John C Flood's representative arrived Thursday, April 18 around 1 pm. We had 2 leaky faucets. After reviewing the situation he gave us an estimate for $260 for fixing both the hot and cold sides in the kitchen and $190 in the bathroom. (I'm on the phone with him.) I asked him if the kitchen leak was cold water only. He said yes. I asked why replace both. At first he said because that was the way they did it. I then said that seemed like they were taking advantage of us. Finally he did say that he could do one side only for $130. Now onto the bathroom...which now seems out of whack in that he was quoting a lot more for it. I asked how much would it be if I supplied the parts. He said the breakdown they have it by the job and not broken down into parts and labor. After much discussion about that policy, he did say if we supplied parts it would be less. I asked him how much. He said he would have to check. He then hands the phone to my daughter's boyfriend, walks out and drives away.
I immediately call the Virginia office. Get a manager on the phone. He also at first says then can't quote labor prices because they don't know which parts they will be replacing. I then say that doesn't make much sense because without some level of that knowledge how can you quote a price at all. I ask how much if I supply a totally new faucet. He says he would have to check (?). I tell him I wanted the kitchen done and was virtually ready to say yes to their price for the bathroom. He said he would call the representative (who had literally just pulled away after showing up outside our house again) and call me back.
Haven't heard nor seen from either of them since,
