Pack & Load Services Horrible experience - actually thought that I was being pranked at one point

Horrible experience - actually thought that I was being pranked at one point...it was worse than you can imagine. My POD arrived at 730, I booked and confirmed that my crew of 3 would arrive at 7 to begin - my sales rep guaranteed that they would be there by 7...of course I assumed this meant 730, but was over preparing. One HOUR late (have set time to fill a POD in the city) so we were behind from the start...if they would have worked hard, they could have made up for being late and have completed my entire 2BR/2BA apt in 2-2.5 hours...they ended up taking 4 hours and of course billing me extra for their laziness. I was the only one working! The crew of 3 movers were a disaster...no communication, no working together...scattered, and flat out dumb...could not follow simple instructions I provided on items that were most important to be on the POD and what could be left off when we ran out of space. The laziest and slowest crew of laborers you can imagine. On their phones, complaining about being tired, hungover...moving as slow as possible. Also didn't follow simple instructions. Weren't capable of disassembling furniture or wrapping and protecting any of it. Left a ratchet set and screwdriver in my primary bedroom ( I personally disassembled the furniture with a single Allen wrench and drill.) The wrapping and temp blankets looked like a toddler did it. Complete joke. Weren't able to get my sectional couch on the POD, which is truly unbelievable, as it was the largest item and should have been loaded first...it's not rocket science...this was as bad of an experience as you can possibly imagine. Customer Service is fine, and responsive, but you can't fix the crew I had... a complete joke and their tardiness, laziness, and stupidity is costing me thousands of dollars. I just hope the POD is packed properly and all my items are not damaged.

Got heads up on arrival time and they showed up on time and packed the pod very tightly and I feel like my goods will be safe during the cross country trip I read the very unfavorable review below and found it to be quite unrealistic and sour grapes

The crew was fantastic. Quick and efficient. Packed the POD very tightly so nothing would shift in shipment. Communication was excellent. Everything went off like clockwork.

Pack & Load Services I had all my belongings packed in boxes

I had all my belongings packed in boxes. Pack and Load sent 3 men to move them into Pods as well as furniture. I found opened beer can, and one of the movers admitted to drinking it, stating "I'm not driving." Then stated, "I thought it was ok because we are almost done." I called the associate, from Pack and Load, who had called earlier in the day to make sure the men were their and moving me out of my home. She asked me if I would take a picture of the beer, I did sending it to her by text message. She stated she would let her manager know and get back with me. It took the men almost 6 hours to move my belongings. I called Pack and Load associate before they left, worried about my items, was the job done correctly, was the job done timely? Jennifer stated she had not heard back from her manager. 5 days later manager from Pack and Load services called in regards to my concerns. She stated since I didn't see them drinking, maybe they weren't, even though one of the movers admitted to drinking. She stated the beer could have already been there. She stated she had not had any contact with the movers that were hired, but that she saw the pictures of the loaded PODS, per policy pictures are taken, and they looked correctly loaded. I told her I was concerned for my lifes possessions, my safety, as 3 men were coming into my home, hired by her and her company-drinking on the job, and also my concern for quality of the job performed due to alcohol consumption. I also addressed my concerns that the job was hired due to closing on a home, PODs being stored and her company moving me as scheduled/closing on another home. A 10% discount was given on the delivery/move in. I was stuck, I had no other choice at this time, as I checked other movers and their schedules were full. I am very upset that alcohol was consumed and I was paying for it! Pack and Load

The moving crew came on time and did a great job without me having to supervise them. When they were finished, they when over what was moved and asked if there was anything else that needed to be done. I was very happy with them.

Pack & Load Services DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Pack and Load Services is the least professional company I have ever worked with. Every part of the process was completely unacceptable. The company does not communicate from booking to the packing crew and later to their customer service. When I originally scheduled with Pack and Load we requested packing support and extended hours (beyond the 3 hour minimum). When the crew arrived (with only 10min notice) they said they were not informed we needed packing support and refused to help; at this time I also informed them we would need them for more than 3 hours. They then proceeded to start packing our pod not according to our instruction which created a situation in that they had to unload and reload. Once we hit the 3 hour mark the crew informed us they only were booked for 3 hours (which I had clarified our need for more hours at their arrival) and said they need to leave. I again clarified I had scheduled extended hours, and the crew began to become irritated and told us we needed to pack our pod ourselves (at this time I was 7 months pregnant). They were completely rude and inappropriate with us and with our belongings. After the experience I called to report this to their Customer Service team, and have been trying to get a resolution from Christine (apparently a senior manager) and her boss Michael. Neither of them cared enough to call me back, requiring me to call several times with absolutely no resolution. After months of me reaching out, trying to get to a resolution, they informed me no refund would be provided and I could have a discount on my unloading services. I asked what the discount would be and they said they could not confirm. HOW is this acceptable business practice? Unfortunately, I do not seem to be the only one who has had this experience, but please save yourself time and money and use another company!

DO NOT BOOK a job with this company. If your move gets canceled and you give them a 2 week notice, they will still charge you $100.00. They get $100.00 for doing nothing. They also charge your credit card for the move before it's even done and then act like they're doing you a favor by refunding that. They hope you will be happy getting that refunded and you won't mind paying them $100.00 for absolutely nothing. HIGHWAY ROBBERY. All the reviews are fake also. They don't have one negative review? I find that difficult to believe!

Pack & Load Services Pack and Load were referred to me by PODS which I had faith in based on a previous move and with their professional approach to moving

Pack and Load were referred to me by PODS which I had faith in based on a previous move and with their professional approach to moving. So I had faith in their referral. I was not disappointed. The Pack and Load process up to the day of the pack/load (a two day operation) was smooth and confidence building. The day of the move the window was 8-11am. However two packers didn't show up until 3pm and were only there for 1.5 hours. Contacting Pack and Load was Ok at first but as the day wore on with no one showing up it was increasingly difficult to get updates, although when I did talk to the case manager I was assured the PODS would be loaded on time. The next morning at 8 am two packers arrived. I was told two more would arrive later but they didn't arrive until 3 pm. The lead packer/loader said not to worry they would get it done. So two guys were supposed to pack up a 4 BR house and load it into two 16 foot PODS in one day. Right. This lead packer, Dwight, was unbelievable, a wizard. One of the most impressive things I have ever seen. The first POD was packed and loaded in 5 hours. Things were so tight, there was no space at all between packed objects. I had packed the two PODS on our move to this house and it was packed tight. Not only did they get everything in the PODS we moved before but they also included 2 recliners, an L shaped couch, washer and dryer and a refrigerator all of which I expected to leave behind. The whole exercise took 12 hours and I don't recall they ever took a break. Incredible. The unload experience was just as satisfying but without the drama. Two unloaders unloaded two PODS in 4:45 hours. Very professional. There were some billing issues but Pack and Load solved them quickly. Moving across country is challenging, fraught with opportunities for disaster, and incredibly stressful. Pack and Load has a few stumbles which they took care of quickly. Overall they were on top of things the entire time. I would definitely recommend them.

Am very disappointed in the packing and loading services provided by *** The whole process was a cluster from the start. Your salesperson (***) told me that there would be a crew of four to load my Pods along with tools to dismantle beds, etc. He also told me that the crew would bring rope and shrink wrap. However, on the day of the move, only two individuals arrived with no tools, no rope, and no shrink wrap. Thankfully, I had purchased shrink wrap, moving blankets, and *** straps in advance of the move. When I called customer service to inquire, I was told that there was nothing she could do to send the two additional crew members. After observing the two individuals loading the Pods, it was apparent that they were not professional movers and did not follow the loading process outlined in the May 4, 2022 email from ***. Again, I called customer service and was told that there was nothing she could do. Her only instruction to me was to wait until the Pods were unloaded at their ultimate destination and file a claim for the damages (inferring that any damages would be fully covered). She did not mention that Pack and Load limits damages to $25 per item, $250 maximum). It was extremely frustrating to watch them load the Pods, knowing that my furniture would be damaged, and that *** process was to let it happen. I subsequently completed their customer satisfaction survey, outlining the above and received no response from anyone at *** I subsequently filed a claim and was told that claim was limited to $25 per item, $250 maximum per move.Bottom line is that Pack and Load is not a reputable company and should not be allowed to mislead consumers with a favorable better business rating.

This is the worst company we have ever had to do business with ! Moving is stressful enough. We only moved 15 min same city same exact house style. They damaged and destroyed furniture that they didn't even get into the POD! Not to mention what they loaded into the POD. They didnt even finish loading the Pod they left furniture and belongings and tried to charge more to move it. You should be able to call out the movers names because you would not want to have anything to do with these people ... but you shouldn't even get to this point ! This company has lost their integrity and regard for anyone... Pack and Load labor out to third party's one is called Smart Moves do not use them ! Both companies and their employees went out with the trash! My rating is minus 5 stars !

I highly recommend Pack & Load Services! From start to finish they did an amazing job! I was quoted 3 men - 2 1/2 hours before my pod was to arrive, I didn't think 2 1/2 hours was enough time . . . I was wrong! The 3 packers arrived early and to my surprise every thing was expertly packed with plenty of time to spare! They were efficient, polite, and were very careful with my fragile items. As I watched them load my Pod it was like watching a game of Tetris! I couldn't have been more pleased!

Pack & Load Services On the loading end the loading crew left before everything was loaded

On the loading end the loading crew left before everything was loaded. The leader said he had another job to do. They rushed the last two hours they were there not making sure things were tied down or strapped down. They basically just threw stuff in to fill gaps. My wife and I had to unload about 1/3 of the pod and reload it for stability then had to finish what they left unloaded. I ended up having order another POD because they did not load correctly. I asked for a discount since they did not complete the work and was told they could not do that but they could look into it on the other end if I choose to use them again. I did choose to use the and they did give me a 200 dollar break but then all chaos broke loose. They crew showed up 4 hours late and said they were not aware there were 3 pods. They were told only one pod (they showed me their contract for one pod) and said they were leaving due to one of the loaders being pregnant and not capable of working that many pods. I called Pack and Load to discuss. I passed the phone to the gentleman and they got into a very heated argument and he hung up on them. It took another 20 minutes to finally get them back on the line and they told me to tell them to leave. I told her it was not my place to tell them. She then told them to leave. From there she stated to me she would get another team out there and she would call me back. This was at 1:30 pm. She did not call back. I had to call her. She had a team scheduled to be at me house at 5:30 that evening. I asked specifically if they knew it was 3 pods and she assured me they did. I specifically asked if they knew they had to put beds together. She stated that was part of my contract and that they are very aware. I then specifically asked if they knew there was a piano, a large armoire, a refrigerator and a treadmill. She again assured me that this was part of my contract and that they were aware. At 6:07 that evening they arrived. 3 very nice gentlemen that did not have any issues with the job. They worked efficiently and effectively to load the remaining items into the pods. They made sure everything was tied down and secured properly. They even helped us put the beds together and handled the piano, armoire, refrigerator, and treadmill with care. Overall, the second team provided a much better experience compared to the first one.

I wholeheartedly DO NOT RECOMMEND using Pack & Load Services for your move or specifically for loading your POD, and honestly think PODs should not list them as a recommended company for the service of loading pods. They were completely unreliable and left us on the day of our job hanging and scrambling to hire another company to get our POD packed on time. I booked several weeks in advance and clearly explained that we needed our POD packed the same day it was delivered as it was being picked up the following day. I called the week before as well as the day before the job to discuss logistics and ensure I followed the appropriate recommendations. I was told I couldn't schedule the movers at a set time but instead to call the company once my pod had arrived and they would send the movers over. The day of my job, movers just showed up at my place before the POD had even arrived. Notably they had not even been given my phone number to confirm with me prior to arriving like any sensible company would because P & L services did not provide that information (when their whole job was to "contract" with the movers). I called P&L and they said it was a mistake but to call back when pod arrived and they would send the movers back over. When my pod arrived at 2pm I called them and received a call back about an hour later saying they were working to get an update from the movers. When I called again they still had no information so I reached out to the moving company myself by finding online from their tshirt logo as P&L wouldn't give their contact. Their supervisor informed me they would not be able to come that day because they moved on to another job and I would have to reschedule the following day. P&L then acted like they had no idea about this and still demonstrated zero accountability, even telling me well you can just reschedule the next day. We luckily found another company helped us last minute. After quite a fight I was able to get a refund the next day. Terrible!

Pack & Load Services I had a terrible experience with this company

I had a terrible experience with this company. I hired them to move my furniture into a 1-800-PackRat Storage Container. They showed up almost 2 hours late. When they finally did show up ; they told me the job would take at most somewhere between 4 to 5 hours but in fact it took them almost 10 hours to finish the work because they were so inefficient and slow. At around 5:30 in the afternoon they told me they could not fit my dining room table in the Storage container as they were running out of space. About an hour later they told me they also could not fit my queen size bed (even though it could be easily disassembled to take a lot less space) either in the container. Their office was closed by this time so I asked them to call their manager for me as I was very angry since I knew that had they not moved the boxes into the container first; we would not be in this situation to run out of room for my furniture. The manager was terrible. Not only she did not apologize for the terrible service or offer me a discount (which I asked for and she flatly refused); she told me my only option was to rent another container and for her to send the movers on another day (which of course she was going to charge me for) so that they would load the rest of the furniture in the second container (which I would have to rent for a monthly fee). This was unacceptable to me as I had tenants moving into my place soon after so there was no time to rent another container and incur the extra monthly rental cost and do another move (incur the additional cost for this second move) to load up the rest of the furniture. I ended up having to donate my dining room table and my queen size bed the next day as I had nowhere to store them. What is worse is that this company not only did not provide me with a discount for their poor service but they also charged my credit card for almost double what they had quoted me. I do not want anyone else to go through the same terrible experience I had with this company. Please be warned.

Pack & Load Services I am absolutely disgusted with the second half of my packing

I am absolutely disgusted with the second half of my packing. I used pods and I needed to order a second pod so I had a second set of movers. They did an absolutely poor job packing the pod; they were slow. One David pushed Adrian to do all the work and all the labor. On top of that, when I scheduled the second move load and pack, I was told that I would have the same flat rate. I must say I miss looking at the invoice; that's on me. They cheated me when I said to him, "Why is this less than the last time?" He never said that my charge would be hourly. When Casey called to check if the movers had arrived, this is after I called her previously to find out where they were. The movers arrived and while the movers were working, she called to check if everything was going all right, and each instance he never said, "Hey, just to remind you that you're paying an hourly charge." To my surprise, when I pulled up my email, I saw that I was charged $138 for the extra hour. Not only did I pay for an extra hour, but the movers did not pack correctly. They did not pack the boxes that I requested of them, and consequently, I am left with a small storage room full of my belongings that needed to go onto the pod. I am so disappointed that I was misled. I blame myself for not looking at my email, but as I said less than a few days prior, I had no problems, no problems with paying more, no problems with my movers, no problems whatsoever. This second time was a disaster, and customer service all the way up to the manager Christine were uninterested in any type of assistance on my part. In other words, it's too bad for you; this is what you get if you wanna pay more. We can change the bill, but it's far from the treatment that I received. I have notified pods, and I have let them know what has happened, what transpired. This is a lose-lose proposition because this company will never get my business again, and when I land in my new location and I need my pods unpacked and moved into my house, they will not be called because I will never do business with them again. And consequently, I will never refer them to anyone.

Pack & Load Services I left a glowing 5 star review for this company on 6)24 because the team that packed up my belongings was truly phenomenal

I left a glowing 5 star review for this company on 6)24 because the team that packed up my belongings was truly phenomenal. Regrettably, the team that unpacked my belongings was so terrible and Pack and Load's response has been so incredibly lacking that I am now leaving this one star review. I would rate them as 0 stars if possible. To start with, the team was to arrive between 8:30 and 11:30. They didn't. I had one call from a member of the team saying they were running behind and would be here in an hour. No problem. I appreciated the call. But they didn't show. I had a call from P&L at 12:30 wondering if my team was here yet. Umm...no. She didn't know where they were either. This seems problematic to me. The team finally showed up slightly over 4 hours late. No apology, no explanation. Nothing. They then proceeded to complain vociferously about the furniture they unloaded, going so far as to curse at the desk they were carrying (their bad luck that the desk belonged to my father who died this past Christmas. While I don't dock them a star for not knowing the insensitivity of their choice words, I might suggest that movers hired for the express purpose of unloading furniture probably shouldn't be cursing at it.) They also flat out refused to bring the piano into the apartment (I paid an extra $85 for them to move the piano.) First they claimed it wouldn't fit up the stairs; then they claimed it wouldn't fit in the spot set aside for it. (My 18 year old measured the spot later and found it plentiful, even a 1.5 foot space left over) Long story short: the crew was lazy, they put boxes of books on top of boxes clearly marked FRAGILE on all sides, they dropped furniture wherever they wanted instead of putting them in the places clearly marked by post-it notes on the walls. Worse, though, has been P&L's response. I paid $885 for (quite literally) 2 hours of the worst service I have EVER had, bar none. I have reported this to P&L and requested a $500 refund (quite generous of me not to request the entire amount given the lazy ineptitude of the crew). They offered $50, I refused, and now, surprisingly enough, they won't return calls or emails Do NOT use Pack and Load in the state of CO. And good luck to you if your service is less than ideal. Pack and Load clearly only values the customers who have a great experience. I was one of them once upon a time.

This company provided the worst service possible "service", from the beginning when they loaded everything, to the transport and delivery of the POD, to the unloading of our homes contents, they failed at every step. The loaders arrived with no equipment - no 2 wheel dolly, no tie down ropes or straps, no blankets or padded paper and used a minimal amount of plastic wrap that did not cover our most precious furniture pieces. I had purchased two 6 packs of straps to have on hand for the move of which they used only ONE. They failed to build or secure walls throughout the POD, tossed items behind boxes and loaded the heaviest piece last, using MY loading blankets, to wrap around the top as they pushed it against the rear door roller. The result was the door could not be opened when the POD was delivered. When we called POD to complain they threated to come pick it up, take it away for up to 10 days, possibly needing to cut open the door and then charge us for any damage to the POD! On the day of unload, It took multiple people 45 minutes (on my dime) to force the door open about a foot, crawl in and tear open boxes of merchandise that had fallen (due to not being secured) so the un-loaders could get in & free the door! As they unloaded it (using my 2-wheeled dolly since they also failed to bring one) we discovered many scratches, scrapped and torn bedroom and living room furniture, including a brand new leather recliner coach that had holes poked in it, the leather torn and all four legs damaged! Many other pieces had damage as well. The unloaders took their own pictures to protect themselves and I took pictures for what i knew would be needed for a damage claim.. We were NEVER given any paperwork to sign and were told the manager would bring out it later that day (he never did). Later we discovered the company charged us an hour of labor MORE than they worked, claiming they arrived an hour EARLIER than they did. Only due to me taking pictures with a time stamp could I prove their arrival time & dispute it! We filed the paperwork, supplied multiple pictures of the poor load, the lack of straps, and supplied receipts ALL of the damaged furniture that was requested as part of a claim. They responded with NO FOLLOW-UP by sending us a form letter and check for $50! Multiple thousands of dollars of damage and we are expected to be satisfied with $50! This company should not be in business! I would rate them zero stars if it was possible! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Pack & Load Services Worst company ever!

Worst company ever! Do not even deserve half a star! Bunch of liars and unprofessional! The amount of items that had irreparable damages is unbelievable! Not to mention the items that were stolen - a cruiser bike, tool sets, coffee maker... We have proof. Our dining table top came cracked from one end to the other. When we complained to the crew leader how he was loading it and with nothing wrapped around it, he said he knew better than us, that he's been doing this for more than 30 years. Tv broken, PC monitor broken, bed broken, chair broken, outdoor furniture scratched all over, our bed the legs were scratched and the headboard was dirty with grease from the bikes. We bought all the packing material with them. And it was not cheap! I hired one day for packing and one day for loading, because I wanted things to be done carefully. That's the one thing we never got. Never experienced this with any other packing company. It's shocking how they treat their clients, especially after the unload and you see all the damages and loss you have. Then they certainly don't give a dam! I even laughed when I read the other reviews because that's exactly what they do, when you file a claim, and our loss with the damages and the stolen items was around $8000, they say that every item that was damaged was not packed by them. How convenient is that! And the person responsible for claims is another joke and a liar. After he knows you filed a claim, he never answers your calls, nor get back to you. They offered us $121 for our loss! And all he says is that they did not pack our damaged and stolen items! On the invoice you can see all the packing material bought, plus the packing hours charged us. They did not even know how many people went to my house, nor who was on the crew they sent over. No background check whatsoever! They do not only put your things at risk but your life by sending people they have no idea of who they are. Their actions are completely the opposite of the service they offer on their website. I still have a broken marble top in my garage which I have asked them to take it away and they refused to do it. It's about to crack and break completely any minute now. I have kids running around the house, dogs , by leaving this here, they are putting us in danger of someone getting hurt. We will hold them accountable for it. Even though they do not want to be liable for anything. If you value your things, run away as fast as possible from this company! You will only loose with them. Highly unprofessionals, don't know how they're still in business. And worst is that PODS should also be held accountable for highly recommending them.

Pack & Load Services If I could give them a NEGATIVE ZERO I would

If I could give them a NEGATIVE ZERO I would. Did not show the day they were scheduled to pack POD. Called at 7:30 pm that evening stating they could come "later than evening" or come the next morning (when first POD was getting picked up). The reasoning - Oh sorry, we have 6 call outs today. Quick to charge my credit card 1500 though for a job not even done on the day agreed upon. With limited options, I opted for a promised 6 am start time the next morning by Pack and Load Services. At 7 am, no movers. Just the POD delivery driver telling me he would be there to pick up an empty POD in the next 15-20 minutes. My husband and I ended up nearly throwing our backs out (literally) boxing and throwing whatever was in eyesight into the first POD. Paid 3K to ship a 1/4 of a POD because of Pack and Load Services. The best part - I called the "emergency line" at 7 am when movers that were promised at 6 am never showed. The line must have been routed to the "Operations Manager" Christine's cell phone. She answered, I obviously upset (however not one curse word or loud tone was used) demanded answers and resolutions to this major issue. She said to me "It's 7 am. I'm just now getting into my car" I LAUGHED! Oh but it gets better... I simply said, I am aware it is 7 am but you promised movers here at 6 am, I want to speak to YOUR boss. Christine proceeds to say in these exact words "Yeah, okay, what do you want me to do? Hand my phone over to him? I'm in my car". I was literally mind blown of the complete disregard and unprofessionalism not by just her but the company. This went beyond horrible customer service. Sounded like Christine absolutely LOVED her job though, I'm sure she is going places with that kind of attitude
The nightmare isn't over though. After the movers show up at around 8:50 am, one decides to take a dump in the bathroom and then proceeds to help himself to chocolate chip cookies. My 3 year old could have done a better job than the DISASTER of "white glove service" they provided. Upon arriving at our destination, many items in the second POD that was packed by them was damaged, scratched and/or broken. The best part - They wrapped breakable kitchen items in our own kitchen towels. Yes! Just kitchen towel and tape! And also went ahead and just dumped our "junk drawers" on top of the semi packed boxes.
Although this was the absolute worst moving experience I have ever been through, I felt bad for the two men they sent to "pack the POD". When signing the invoice they went onto say that they had called out the day before because their long hours and work load was "just ridiculous".
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE A JOKE!

Pack & Load Services My interactions with the Pack & Load Services representatives were friendly and courteous during the scheduling of services and on the days

My interactions with the Pack & Load Services representatives were friendly and courteous during the scheduling of services and on the days services were rendered in September . However, I must express my overall dissatisfaction with booking Pack & Load Services to support my move. The company claims to offer competitive pricing to meet customer's budget. This was not my experience at all. As a matter of fact, I far-exceeded my budget because of how Pack & Load handled the job I hired them to do. I solicited the guidance and support from their representative during booking and depended on his knowledge, experience, and expertise to order the number of shipping boxes and materials necessary to pack my home into a 16-foot PODS container. It concerns me whether it was done purposely or inadvertently, but the representative assigned to my job order severely underestimated the number of boxes and materials that would be required to accomplish my move. I spoke to him on a few occasions. And although I was not asked for much detail, I provided the approximate square-footage of the home, # bedrooms, described the large items to be included in the job, and provided other details so that he could make his best educated guess. The representative estimated that 47 boxes and a few other supplies/materials would be needed. And when he said that the movers could pack a full home and load the contents into a container in one day, I expressed my disbelief based on my experience as a Veteran. The representative assured me that the movers were experienced and could complete the job in one day, so I trusted his judgement. After going through this experience and reflecting back on my conversations with the representative, I realize the company did not live up to its core values of HONESTY and RELIABILITY.  Pack & Loads selected a local moving company to complete the packing and loading and the moving company's representative conducted a quick walk-through of the home upon arrival and made an on-the-spot assessment that they would not be able to finish the job in one day. He stated that the job would take much more than 47 boxes and that everything would not fit into the container. If Pack & Load Services was really concerned about providing excellent customer service from beginning to completion of a job, then the company would try to be more realistic with its customers about the shipping materials needed for a move and would make efforts to arrive at a more realistic supplies/materials estimate and dollar estimate. My goal was to lessen the stress of moving by hiring Pack & Load Services. Instead, I far exceeded my budget and accumulated more debt because of the additional expenses incurred as a result of doing business with Pack & Load Services. This company does not live up to its own core values and does not have any concern for total customer satisfaction. Its concern seems to be primarily to enter into a contract with customers under false pretenses in order to get as much money as possible. I wanted to share my experience in hopes that others will not be mislead by this company.

Pack & Load Services I had never used PODS before, so I felt comforted using a company they recommended to pack/load my pods, because I figured I would be getting

I had never used PODS before, so I felt comforted using a company they recommended to pack/load my pods, because I figured I would be getting professionals that knew how to correctly and efficiently pack my pods for storage and eventual transportation. Boy, was I wrong!

Let me explain...

First, a boss (who didn't initially come inside) dropped off two men with 2 screwdrivers, a roll of shrink wrap, and paperwork for me to sign and bring back out to him in his truck. The first piece of paper that I was directed to sign was a form confirming that no damage had incurred during the service call. I explained that I would sign this after the pack and load service was complete, so if there was any damage, it could be listed. When they relayed this to the boss, he came in and explained that their services could and would not be given unless this paper was signed ahead of time.

I had originally paid $450 for the 2 men to work for 3 hours to load my pods. (One complete bedroom, a second mattress and box spring, a washer and dryer, 4 bar stools, a complete living room, and some smaller furniture items along with boxes.) This should have and would have been sufficient time if the men were experienced and worked the entire time. These men spent more time disagreeing about the best way to pack the pods than they did actually working. In addition, other situations (detailed below) added to the time I was charged - a total of 6 HOURS!

Excess time situations:

(1) I asked them to take the tall entertainment unit apart, but they insisted it would be fine to travel like it was. It wasn't, so they had to take the time to unwrap it, disassemble it, and rewrap it to get it loaded.

(2) They ran out of shrink wrap and called their boss for more. He said he couldn't get to my home, so they should send the homeowner to go get some, and he would reimburse me! So, I left my home to 2 men I didn't know, used my gas, and took the time that I was paying for to get more shrink wrap mind you, shrink wrap was the only thing provided for free. I provided 24 moving blankets, ratchets, and mattress bags.

(3) The door to the first full pod would not close due to a dresser. The men were first going to remove the dryer, turn the dresser, then place the dryer on top of my furniture! I forbade that. Then, they emptied a fourth of the pod in the pouring down rain. That meant my furniture and boxes were placed on the muddy ground and became soaked through and through. In addition, they put the dresser on top of my washer and dryer - my washer being a top-loader with a glass inset.

(4) Everything that was on the muddy ground was shoved - with no regard for where or how - into the two pods before they closed the doors on the pods. I can only imagine the condition of my belongings after sitting in storage for a month or two - mold and musty at the least.

(5) The final straw. At 3:30 when the job was over, they called their boss to pick him up. He told them he was 15 minutes away. After 30 minutes of waiting with them, I called the boss myself. I explained that I had a walk-through the next morning, and I needed to clean my home with all the mud and grass that had been tracked in as well as get to an appointment. He told me that he would be another 15 minutes and that I should put the men outside in the rain, because "I'm paying them well." I refused to do that stating that I was a kinder human being. He didn't show up for them until 4:50 - an hour and 20 minutes late! When I complained about the time, he retorted, "I told you to put them out in the rain!" I then asked about the initial paperwork to add my complaints. He told me it was already signed and couldn't be altered.

Pack & Load Services Is there a rating lower than one star?

Is there a rating lower than one star? It would be well-deserved here. The short version of our story is that we scheduled Pack and Load to load two Pods at our former address and unload them at our new address the following week. We were given an estimate of an 8:00-10:00am arrival time on Thursday morning, May 13th to load our Pods. We waited all day and all evening, but the movers never showed up. We gave up and started loading the Pods ourselves that night. As many ComplaintsBoard.com reviewers have said, Pods should be ashamed for recommending this company and I should have done some research on my own before making a decision. Our last call from Pack and Load's "on-call" person was at 9:45pm that evening to see if the movers had arrived at our house, but they had not arrived and we had already given up on anyone showing up or anyone helping us at all. The moving crew had turned off their phone(s) and were unreachable, so nobody (including Pack and Load's staff) knew where they were or if/when they would show up at our house. To be clear - Pack and Load could not locate their crew and did not know where they were or if they were going to arrive. So, we got strung along from 8:00am until after 9:30pm waiting on someone to show up. We only waited so long because the on-call person kept saying someone was on their way. Had they just told us at 8:00am that nobody would show, we could have made other arrangements. We loaded the Pods ourselves that evening, finally finishing around 3:00am. We missed our son's concert performance, had to hire a cleaning crew for our former house (since Pack and Load didn't show, we could not complete the cleaning ourselves before our closing on Friday morning), and received little more than an apology from this company. Their only compensatory offer was $100 off the unloading of our Pods the next week, already scheduled at our new address. Which, considering what all we had been through, was a complete joke (plus, how could we know they would even show up?!?). A $100 offer for all my family and I had been through was insulting and speaks to their lack of care and concern for their customers; they just wanted us to go away. I spoke to a manager and to someone else on the "management team," and they were not helpful at all. They could not explain what happened to the crew or where they had been - and, in fact, one manager told me that she "didn't know if the crew was telling them what they felt like {management} wanted to hear or if they were just lying." That doesn't instill much confidence in me that they hired good people. We did speak to the crew on Thursday evening and again on Friday morning, and their story did not add up - so clearly they were lying and the management team just bought the lie(s). At first, the crew blamed their lateness on the gas shortage and then they blamed a flat tire and then their car/van broke down. All lies, confirmed by a follow-up conversation with the crew on Friday when their stated location revealed they were nowhere near our house - and had not been there. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. What a horrible experience, both in terms of service and in terms of upper management follow-through after the fact. You're better off hiring your local cub scout troop to move your furniture - at least they would show up! I should, at a minimum, be reimbursed for the money spent on the cleaning crew I had to hire due to Pack and Load not showing up. I requested they provide movers to unload our Pod at no expense to us, but their answer was to give us $100 off. Laughable. Additional concession/compensation should be provided for the overall experience - over 12 hours of waiting and lies and terrible service, made worse by the lack of appropriate follow-through by the "management team." I should also add that when I told Pods about our experience with Pack and Load, they offered us a $35 credit on our bill with them. So...let that sink in. Pods offered us a credit and didn't do anything wrong. Pack and Load lied, offered insulting compensation, and clearly just wanted to get rid of us. Which company cares about its customers? Hire this company at your own risk. If you have a problem, you'll be completely on your own!
