My father was suppose to pay my medical bill and forgot so the bill went into collection (Overton, Russell, Doerr & Donovan). I applied for a loan and this bill appeared on my credit report. I contacted them to make payment and was told that if I used an electronic check they would be able to furnish me with a letter stating the debt was paid as soon as the funds were actually deducted from the account. After assuring that the funds were deducted from the account, I contacted them to acquire the letter stating the bill was paid and was then told that their policy was they would not furnish proof of payment until 10 business days after the debt was paid.
