Want to buy a car from Hiley Mazda, Arlington, TX? And do you want gap insurance coverage? BEWARE!

They have contracted Optimus Warranty. Don’t forget that name. Gap insurance means they pay off the loan if the damage exceeds the value of the car, right……wrong. If you want gap coverage, be sure to get it elsewhere. By Hiley Mazda’s own admission they have no control over Optimus.

And would you think Mazda National would come to your rescue? Guess again, by their own admission they have no control over Hiley Mazda nor the company they contract with for gap insurance.

On to Optimus, first they give you a list of 25 items from three different companies that you will obtain and furnish it to Optimus. It is a near impossibility and the three companies say they have never heard of such demands. The idea is you get frustrated, give up and let they get away without paying. But should you persevere, they are prepared. After days of thinking you are done, suddenly they come up with a cause of loss statement. No insurance company has ever heard of such but they wrote one. Now, thinking you are done after five more days they demand a trip diary, commuter miles, commutes per week, long distance trips, where and how many miles. Again, insurance companies are aghast at the demands.

And then, having furnished that, day after day, until it’s weeks, they have to have a final review before issuing a check.

And when they do, it’s for about two-thirds of the amount owed, leaving you with many more payments to pay off the loan.

Draw your own conclusions before buying a car from a dealership that allows such treatment of their customers and should you decide to buy anyway, take a hard look at Optimus Warranty before buying their coverage, of which you will not get any and are on your own.
