Okemos, Michigan Meijer review: Customer service employee

I used to love shopping at Meijer, but I refuse to spend another dime at any Meijer until the very rude woman working the customer service desk is fired and unemployable by any Meijer or Wal-Mart in the state of Michigan!

I was at Meijer with my two young children this afternoon 03/13/2022 returning bottles so I could buy groceries to feed my family. I was waiting patiently in line with my bottle slips and some bottles left over that were not accepted by the machine. $2.10 worth. As I waited, I noticed a woman who was at the front of the line walk away from the service desk and out into the store; several moments later, the woman returned and cut in front of several people that had been waiting a considerable amount of time. My toddlers were becoming impatient, I looked around at the people's faces and noticed that they too also noticed this woman skip to the front of the line. At first, I didn't say anything and thought she would just stand there and wait, but when it was rightfully my turn, she indeed stepped in front of me. I spoke up and said, what everyone else was thinking "excuse me, you left the service counter, you should go to the back of the line." The employee behind the counter very rudely snapped, exclaiming that she told the customer to come back to the service counter and cut in front of everyone. That customer then smugly grabbed her cart and rudely shoved her way in front of me where I had been standing the entire time with my two children. The incident has left me wondering if I should let people walk all over me or stand up for myself and the others around me. I was raised to speak up when I notice wrongdoing, and the way this employee handled the situation was incredibly unprofessional. If I were in the wrong, ok, I don't think I was, and either way it does not excuse the behavior of the employee or the customer who shoved a 3- and 4-year-old out of her way so she could be seen first for some damn shoes! I took my bottle slips to the self-checkout and helped myself, I then threw my remaining bottles in the trash upon walking out of the store. This is not the first time I have been treated poorly at this Meijer by an older female employee. I would expect this kind of behavior at a Wal-Mart, though, the employees at Wal-Mart are much nicer. If this woman cannot conduct herself without snapping at customers, and allowing other customers to be rude also, I don't believe she should be employed in the customer service industry.
