Do Not Purchase With Words Like:"NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSITS"
ON websites or contracts

Under Civil Code sections [protected] of the Consumers Legal Remedies Act, customers are also protected against retailers who participate in unfair or deceptive acts to sell their goods, and are entitled to a full refund plus damages of at least $1, 000.

CFA Cattery Reviews has a new policy now. If any cat breeder any where in the world withholds any "good faith deposits" to a buyer for whatever reason, there will be contact with the Police Dept or Sheriff's Dept in the city & state & country that cat breeder lives in. A police/sheriff's report will be filed. A buyer has a right to change his/her mind at any time, the same as they do in legal busine, such as Walmart, Kmart, Kohl's etc., and are able to get refunds.

The cat breeder's made up that policy "deposits are non refundable". And you all seemed to have gotten away with it, not anymore! Those days are gone.

So talk to your breeder friend pals and voice it to the hightest mountains and tell them what will happen if they withhold any form of a deposit for any reason whatsoever.

If a cat breeder wants to stay in business they will return any deposit requested by the buyer at ANY TIME, for ANY reason, no "ifs" "&s" or "buts" about it! It's simple to understand.

It does not matter what the buyer "did" or "did not do", "what they said" or "did not say" if a buyer wants her/his deposit back a cat breeder will infact give it back or have a police/sheriff report filed its that simple, case closed!

Any CFA/TICA cat breeder that has on their website or contracts the words: "NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSITS" on it, need to remove it ASAP. If not your website & contract's will serve as evidence and proof to develop a list to submit it to the property authorities.

NOTICE: A deposit is used as leverage to lock in a sale because the cat breeder is so hungry for money. As they live over their means and use sales to make a living off.

I Purchased an F1 savannah kitten from Doreen of Drinkwater that was spoken for and the woman backed out so Doreen immediately wanted a large deposite for this kitten that i didn't have a chance to see in person...its a 9 hr drive from my house and if i didn't put a deposit and i started driving there and someone else puts a deposit on the kitten while Im in route then I will loose out on the kitten...It happened the first time I sent her a deposit for a kitten and prior to the mail being delivered someone came by her house the night before and purchased the kitten in full ...So she refunded my money that time and I waited for another kitten to be born...the kitten was 4 lot 5 weeks old when Doreen notified me that he became available and I didn't want her to sell this one from underneath me so I immediately sent her a deposit...when I picked up the kitten, Doreen put him in a carrier and I put the carrier in my car the kitten went wild and crazy...I called her back 5 minutes later and told her something is wrong with her kitten and he's not the right one for me and returned to her house immediately...she would not let me in the house and said she could not take the kitten back due to him being around my other kitten in the car which was vaccinated 100%...I took him home with no choice and tried to acclimate the kitten as i do with all kittens but he was scared to death and was hissing and growling and I didn't feel safe enough to hold him..The kitten had a very unstable temperament which stated in her contract that his temperament was stable...she committed fraudulent by selling me a kitten that was not as described by her or the contract

The place I bought from in TX has non-refundable deposit. But that's not my issue... My issue is the breeder delivered us an already paid for $~$800 kitten that we had not seen prior to delivery and the kitten was sick when he brought him to us. The breeder said he just got a cold and it will go away soon. After ~2 weeks we took the kitten to the vet, got medicine. Kitten was still sick, went to vet again... repeat, repeat... Finally after several vet visits and the kitten never getting better the the vet told us the kitten had "chronic snuffles" a life long sickness. I feel I should be entitled to a well kitten upon purchase, and being that the kitten was delivered sick and never got better something needs to be done. The breeders website says if I ever decide I don't want the kitten I must give the kitten back to him, but he verbally told me he doesn't want this kitten and I can just give him away. The breeder says he will replace the kitten with a well kitten, but he keeps selling new litters and pushing the replacement date back, so it doesn't look good. Any suggestions to report, complain, or do I just need to file in court before time to file expires?

For those breeders that are griping about non refundable deposits... It is against the law now to withhold a deposit from any buyer that has not physically seen the cat! I am a breeder and have always had refundable deposits. For those of you that complain about health certificates and the cost, they are not required unless you are shipping a kitten, and they are never done more than 10 days before the kittens departure...they are only good for 10 days! Very few states charge $150 for a vet cert, and do not require a fecal sample or blood work. States vary, but health certs are between $45 and $60! Most breeders can relist kittens and sell them for the same amount, sometimes less...it's part of selling! Please check with the Department of Agriculture for laws on selling kittens via the internet, shipping, and deposits if you are having issues. A good breeder will not require a non refundable deposit.

In the state of Florida we are required to do a State Health Certificate on each kitten sold. This cost is up to $150. per kitten and is done in the buyers name, so can not be used for another sale. It involves blood and fecal testing, complete exam and is signed by the Veterinarian. I will not hold a certain kitten for a buyer without a nonrefundable deposit. That will not change, have had too many back out after I have spent this money. Did go to small claims court in one situation after being threatened with a law suit, and I won, so I do not believe this is true, at least in Florida. While holding the kitten for a buyer with a deposit, other possible sales are lost. .

There is no such thing or policy. When people decide to not get a kitten they are making the breeder vulnerable. Buyers want kittens and if a breeder holds a kitten for you for 4 months and then you back out that erson has to pay to advertise again and the kitten ages out of the cuteness factor and their prices drops by the month substantially. You are paying for them to not sell the kitten to anyone else but you. This is very common practice.

The complaint above about non-refundable deposits was posted by the infamous RoseMarie Zizzo, hiding behind the name Complaints against Cat Breeders. Ms. Zizzo considers herself to be the saviour of pedigreed cat buyers, when, in fact, she has been suspended for life from The Cat Fanciers' Association, the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats. She has no authority to resolve complaints from any cat registry.

Ms. Zizzo cannot help anyone resolve complaints anout cat breeders. What she can and will do is harass those she feels have wronged her. Her harassment continues for years. Not so long ago, RoseMarie Zizzo was found guilty of harassment in California Civil Court, and slapped with a $7, 5000 judgement. Has this stopped her? Sadly, no. Ms. Zizzo's judgement was paid by her elderly mother in order to prevent Ms. Zizzo from being jailed on contempt charges.

In addition, it is rumored Ms. Zizzo has connections to, or is a member of, the infamous Westboro Baptist Church, Topeka, KS. You know, the ever so charming folks who picket funeralsof military members.

Actually, I can think of a breeder that should be investigated. She is located in California, and sells poor quality cats through the Pennysaver and Yahoo classifieds, This breeder claims to be able to offer her customers CFA registretions on her cats. She also has a clause in her contract of purchase which states any and all deposits are non-refundable. The breeder in question? None other than RoseMarie Zizzo.

Investigate that breeder, please, oh almighty Complaints against Cat Breeders.
