I am an international CPA candidate who applied for exam eligibility in Maine. Misleading information on the Maine Board and NASBA websites caused me to apply under incorrect assumptions. On November 21, 2025, I requested via email to NASBA and Maine CPA coordinator Perceita Beasley to stop the review and refund my $96 fee.

Before they even started reviewing my application, I submitted three requests for a refund, all of which were ignored.

On December 1, Perceita Beasley falsely claimed my application was complete and the fee non-refundable, yet my account still shows “Processing” and I received no official notification from NASBA.

Their refusal to refund the fee caused me significant financial and emotional hardship. I am unemployed, and this fee was borrowed money—equivalent to one month of living expenses in my home country. I request NASBA immediately refund my fee and address the professional negligence.

Here is my condensed summary

I am an international CPA candidate, and I am filing a formal complaint regarding the Maine Board of Accountancy and NASBA concerning my CPA exam eligibility application and related refund request. My request is a refund of $96 (CPA exam eligibility evaluation fee), which I incurred due to misleading information from the Maine Board of Accountancy and NASBA.I have submitted three refund requests, but all of them were ignored.

1、Misleading Official Information: The Maine Board of Accountancy website and the NASBA website contained incorrect information, which caused me to apply under false eligibility assumptions. I relied on these official sources to make an informed decision.

2、Refund Requested Before Evaluation: Immediately after realizing the error—before any evaluation or review had begun—I submitted a formal request to withdraw my application and refund the $96 application fee.

3、Repeated Requests Ignored: Despite multiple written requests over the course of weeks, neither the Maine Board nor NASBA responded promptly, and my requests were effectively ignored. The lack of timely communication and refusal to acknowledge my withdrawal request has caused significant financial and psychological hardship.
