I visited Nail Palace at Clementi @ GRANTRAL MALL to have manicure & pedicure services on 4th March 2020. This is my first time to visit Nail Palace as previously I use another salon but I just moved to Clementi recently, when I saw Nail Palace then I walk in without google and check the review for this salon...
Before I enter the salon I ask for menu & pricelist, the nail technician ignore my request and just bring me to sit down. She asked what service I want, I told her manicure & pedicure and she told me to do gelish type as the normal type is very easily get removed, so I adopted the idea for gelish type. Again when I asked for pricing, the question has been ignored again. Then, the nail tech ask me to put my leg in the warm water and she started to check my foot and told me my foot condition is really bad and she told me that i have to do treatment (to remove the dead skin) or else the consequences will be very bad. I ask for the pricing she told me '388', so I thought is $38.8 as I never think this service can be so expensive...Besides, the nail tech was also asking me to do for the hand and foot waxing, and she told me all their customer will be doing the waxing services also. As I am in a rush so i have rejected their offer although they tried to push very hard on the service.
While i am doing for the manicure, another nail tech told me about my total expenses for today, the price list was scribble in a paper, the total amount was $700 plus (including the foot treatment which actual price is $388), I was so shocked with the pricing. It was so expensive for me and i dont think the service worth that value. I was in a very puzzled condition where i forgot to see properly and forgot to take picture of the itemized pricing. They told me not to worry as they can offer me the package which is more worthwhile. They started to use the push tactic which made me feel very uncomfortable... They told me with my foot condition I have to take at least 15 treatment. Each treatment will cost me $388, the services are included the foot treatment nail & soak off services. Total price for 15 treatment will be $5820 (before gst)! and I have to make the full payment on the same day, they ask me to use credit card as i can gain a lot of points. I told them I don't want to sign on the package then they started to pursue me again to tell it is not worth to pay $700 plus for one day services, but to sign on the package it will be cheaper. I told them is too expensive then they counter propose to reduce the treatments to 10 times instead. They told me this is the minimum treatment and it cannot be reduced anymore. The total cost for 10 treatments will be $3880(before gst). I rejected their offer again and I told them I want to go back and consider. The nail technician then they counter propose for 6 treatment, the total cost will be $2328(before gst). As they are very pushy and end up I was signed the package under high pressure and unwillingness. After that the nail tech still come back twice to pursue me to sign on another 2 more treatment to make up to 8 treatment and they will absorb the 'cat eye' gelish pedicure cost for me if I add on. However I rejected the offer. During the payment, they ask me to sign on many areas on their documents. The receipt was not given to me (after I left then I noticed) but only the appointment card. The next day I call the nail tech told her I want to refund and she told me is not refundable. However, she told me to submit this complaint registration form to Nail Palace. The nail tech called me the next day to give me the original receipt.
I have done some research and I found actually there are a lot of negative feedback & complaint against Nail Palace. Channel News Asia (CNA) have also reported that CASE have issued warning letter to Nail Palace for using pressure sales tactics. I am really very pissful with the unethical selling tactics they used to push me for the package. I decided to ask for the refund as I was signed the package under very high pressure and unwillingness. I hope the person in charged will come back to me on my request before i lodge the official complaint to CASE.
