A young man came to my door on March 20, 2010, claiming that they were selling magazines door to door for school to earn a trip overseas, I am so upset now I dont even remember where he was claiming to go. I bought $194 worth of magazines because I felt bad for him. That and he sold a good pitch but when it came down to it, they were really very expensive. Against my better judgement I went ahead with the sale. As of today June 17, my daughter, significant other and myself still have not recieved our magazines. I am beyond upset. How can someone take advantage of other people especially when times are so tough? I only did it because he led me to believe he was in need! I WANT MY MONEY BACK! Some one needs to contact me ASAP!

I was just scammed by these con artists on 7/6/14. I mean they're good. Their fine print is down to the T: "Checks deposited immediately" yeah, no kidding. I just had $98 taken out of my account and it's only four days later, even though I was told the company had to call me in order to process the check (I never got a phone call). I filled out and sent out the cancellation form on the back of the receipt the very next day but even their cancellation policy is phenomenally well-written. It says "If you cancel, any negotiable instrument executed by you will be returned within ten business days following the receipt of your valid cancellation if it has not previously been deposited. Otherwise, please allow 4-6 WEEKS for refund after proof of payment has been provided." Since they deposited the check the second it got into their greasy hands, I now have to wait a month and a half for a "refund, " a refund that probably will never come. Why should I have to wait a month and a half for my refund when they didn't even wait one day to deposit my check? I'm just shocked that I fell into this trap. But I'm thinking about taking them to small claims court.

2 young guys just came to my door. (The woodlands, Tx) this company is a BIG SCAM! One of the boys did all the talking saying he needed to earn points to get a trip overseas or something like that, , the way of getting points was selling this magazines, magazines that were not going to be delivered to me but for kids or people in need, he mentioned a kid's association. He told me he was related (nephew) to my neigbors and they had told him to come to me. Yes, I fell for all his lies, yes, I made a check and he gave me a receipt and a dumb sticker saying "awesome was here!" He mentioned check was tax deductible. What kind of caught my attention was that he said my neighbor was from Idaho, , well, she is not! By this time he dad already my check in his possesion. When he was making my receipt I saw my neighbor's receipt without a signature and without check info and on big letters it said "VOID" so I asked him "oh ur family voided the transaction? He started talking bad about them saying that they are family but really don't get along, , they rushed to leave my house and something just didn't feel right, after 2 min I went to my neighbor, she told me they r not related, I looked for them in the neighborhood and found them, I asked him for my check, he refused to give it to me, I told him i will call police if he doesn't give me my check, I snatched it drom his hand. HE was already talking to other neighbors when I took my check back... Another thing, the other guy that didnt talk asked me to come inside my house to use my restroom, I didnt let him come inside! 2 guys, very loose pants, blonde hair, wearing a hat backwards... Please they use different stories, , , be careful and avoid SCAM!

Its so funny how people over react when they have no idea what your talking about . the only one scamming you is the person that lies or the company's that aren't clearing orders which is only some mag crews and deff not all . you make it look bad even for the ones who are telling you the truth . not every kid lies about the charity or where the money goes . I tell people straight up what it is and why I'm doing it and I always leave my own PERSONAL phone number with them in case they don't get it or want anything else . I've only ever had one person call me back and it was only because they moved and wanted to change the address . so stop making it look so bad and instead of blaming every company just know what's up and see if the agent at your door tells the truth and base your buy off that .

1/6/2013 - They are in Charleston, SC. SCAM. A young man gave me all the same comments as noted on this complaint. It was for charity and the subscriptions were to be going to troops overseas. They said they were doing it through their school, to try to get trip overseas to Germany. Even during the receipt process he mentioned it was for tax purposes. The receipt is partially filled in, but I got suspicious when I found my address in the "Address to where the magazines will be sent'" field on the receipt. If they're going to troops overseas, why would my address be in that field? I put a stop on my check, and lesson learned.

Totally just got scammed. Saint augustine, fl is where they are at right now. Had. Been drinking and celebrating New Years when I got a knock on my door ( red flag?) I let the two guys in and they even had a drink with me! Their pitch was they were going to go to cancun or win a grant and also it was a tax write off. I donate as much as I can even though I really am not financially stable I just know that I could be in a worse spot. Dude was such a smooth talker even tried holding my baby as I looked at the list of magazines! I wrote the check. My husband befriended him and they added each other in Facebook which is sooo funny he said he was going to school ( yet he's 26) but yet his occupation on FB is Midwest communications! And on it he gives details as to " where his work is letting him travel next!" So right now they have started in Daytona and are hitting the coast line ALL THE WAYTO PALM BAY! I filed my check as cancelled also alerted the police dept but they didn't seem to care too much. Just a heads up everyone. Also I will release the contact name on fb if needed. Just ask. Sneaky sneaky

2 guys came to my door today selling books for a hospital and i being a social worker fell right into the story of helping young people. after they left i really looked at the receipt and saw the cancellation policy was very shady and the fact that there was no phone number to the company was a big red flag. i google searched the company which led me to an endless supply of scam reports. luckily they were still outside talking to my neighbor convincing him to go to the ATM and pull out cash. i interrupted and told them what i found online and asked for my check back. they had no intention of giving me my check back and called their manager who i was able to speak with who also did not want to let them give me my check back so i pulled the local police departments phone number up in case it was going to come to that. they did end up giving me my money back but not without a few choice expletives towards me.

Winston-Salem NC.

Two kids came to my door, one with a lot of tattoos the other claiming to be military. They were obviously not legit. Played me for my not needing of magazines and said they would give them to sick kids at St. Jude's. I bought in not realizing that they never wrote down any of this information. Just a receipt that is pretty much blank.

My girlfriend and I were (almost) scammed in Winston-Salem, NC a couple days ago. 2 kids, one black and one white, came to our door at 8pm on a Friday night. Why I thought this was normal for someone to be selling something at 8pm on a Friday, I'll never know. They gave us the same lines as everyone else has gotten "Raising money for college, have a fear of public speaking, can win a trip to Cancun, the magazines get sent to troops overseas, etc.". After a severe lapse of judgment by my girlfriend and I, these kids walked out the door with 2 checks totaling $50 or so, $40 in cash, and $25 in coins. They also gave us some line about how if they collected coins, their program director gave them "extra points" just because she thought it was funny. I'm an idiot, I know. I do have to admit that this black kid was an extremely smooth talker, telling jokes, being very friendly, had a quick answer to everything. Pretty impressive for a criminal.

Anyway, as soon as they left I Googled Midwest Circulation LLC, and obviously the scam alerts popped up everywhere. I then put my shoes on, grabbed my 100 lb. dog and my 9 iron, and took a little stroll around my apartment complex looking for these punks. After a few minutes I noticed a woman in her 40's driving a black SUV who pulled into my apartment complex, beeping her horn and stopping every few seconds. It dawned on me that this was their little getaway car, and that was probably their "manager" driving around to pick them up. Yes people, these idiots have getaway cars. Totally legit business, right? Well, for some reason the SUV just left after a few minutes. Must not care much about their "employees" I suppose.

I luckily caught them in the parking lot after 20 minutes or so of searching. They acted friendly towards me and asked me if they had seen an SUV driving around beeping its horn. I said "Yep, sure did... that's actually what led me to find you guys!" I then told them to put the checks and cash on the ground, and put the Ziploc bag of coins on top of them so the wind wouldn't blow them away. Told them to turn around and walk in the other direction, and that would be the end of it. When they resisted and tried to convince me they were legit, I told them to do as I said or the dog would come off the leash, and there would be a 9 iron sticking out of someone's skull in a minute. That convinced them. Got my money back and that was it. I'll be watching my bank account like a hawk for the next couple of months though. Who knows if they got my account number and wrote it down or something.

The next day, I talked to my apartment complex manager. She said she was aware of the issue and that police would start doing more rounds in the complex. She also said that they were kicked out of the apartment complex at 4pm that same day! They got kicked out and still came back later when it was dark out. Beware of these people, they are relentless and you never know what people are capable of. I've read online that some of the really bad people will take stock of what is in your house and ask you what you do for a living (so they can try to figure out when you're at work), so if there's an easy situation for them they come back to your house and rob you. That's also what the stickers they put on your door is for, so they can recognize your place. It's really sad that we live in a world where you just can't trust people anymore. Unfortunately I'll never be able to trust door salespeople again. I hope these criminals in this "company" die in a grease fire.

The group seems to be in Walnut Creek, CA now. All the same stories: points for college grants and a prize trip to Italy. Girls team vs. boys team etc. I consider the $30 check cancellation fee as a small prize for a VERY effective lesson in judging people.

I just paid the girl to get out of my house and now I feel oh so stupid! Has anyone had any experience with them cleaning out your bank account or break ins? I am so nervous and feel so freaking stupid.

A young girl came by in August of 2011. I live in the NW burbs of Chicago. I normally stay far away from solicitors but since she was a younger girl, I didn't think at all this would be a scam. She had several payments already so I thought it was legit. She even left a sticker too so that others wouldn't come by. I thought that was weird. She even sat on my bench and pet my dog. Again normally not what you experience from scammers. I guess when I think of scammers I picture older men. Not young girls. I definitely learned my lesson but this makes me sad. I did start getting a magazine in the mail but it's not what I ordered. And of course when you call the number on the receipt, the mailbox is full. I filed a complaint with the BBB and will file a police report.

11.02.2011 - Del City, OK ---- A young man came to my doorstep today around 2:00 p.m. Directly behind my house is a church who often sends groups for charity donations (or selling magazines), usually young men and women. The young man stated he was selling these subscriptions to help a local youth group at the church. My previous 2 year subscription that I purchased before had just ended and I thought it was time to get another one. I argued about the $62 price since my previous 2 year subscription was only $30. He stated that $14 was non-refundable and guaranteed all shipping and handling and that I would also be receiving some bowls from the transaction. I was uncomfortable and asked again for the name of the church group and again he responded with the name of the church. I wrote out the check and closed the door. Immediately went to my computer and did a background search. All a scam. Called the Del City City Manager's office and asked if any permitted door-to-door charities were in place; nothing. Tried to find the young man but he had disappeared. Immediately stopped payment on my check and sent the flimsy receipt with cancellation information to Midwest Circulation LLC in Cameron, MO. The $32 stop payment was worth it. Don't let it happen to you.

My husband and I ordered from two girls that came to our door in June 2011. They were talking about how they were going on a trip for school if they earned enough points. We got out kids the Humpty Dumpty books. It is now October and we have got NOTHING. They even put a sticker on our door so other kids trying to get sales woudn't stop at our house. They were the sweetest girls and were really down to earth and I would had never in a million years thought I would get cheated. We thought we were helping them out..and now we look like idiots. One thing I hate is a theif and a liar. I will someone get to the bottom of this. Its not fair that ppl are loosing money because they wanted to support a good cause..or so they thought.

They were just in Norwich, NY on July 22, 2011 and I purchased the Disney Pixar Cars issue. It's kind of like a "Where's Waldo" book from what Anthony, the young African American sales man said. He said he was trying to win a trip, and that he could earn double the points and this whole thing was going to help him through college somehow, blah, blah, blah. I fell for the scam and wrote a check in the amount of $59.10. I cancelled my order within 3 business days as it says to do on the back of the receipt. I also contacted them via their website and sent them an electronic message. Their website doesn't even look reputable. The only reason I was interested and bought something from him is because he used the "Autism" sales pitch on me, and my witness who was standing nearby. My 4 year old son is Autistic so, of course, I would help the cause. I will attempt to contact them by phone as well at the # a couple other people left on this site, but I have my doubts. Be careful everyone! They come to small towns where people are the most naive unfortunately.

I was scammed today by a young girl supposedly selling books and magazines that you could order for yourself or for other "unfortunate" people (i.e., homeless shelters, nursing homes, & hospitals). Like others above had said, these people are SO trained to make you feel all warm & fuzzy...they give you sob stories, get you to talking, make you feel like it could be your daughter or grandaughter. They will take a check, but they downplay that, saying they won't get as many points - they get more points if you pay CASH. Oh, and if you don't have any cash, you can just go up to the ATM and get it - they'll wait. They'll even reimburse you the $3 fee that the bank charges at the ATM. I feel like such an idiot. I am going to have to put a stop payment on the check, which will cost me $25. BTW, I'm in the northwest suburbs of IL. Watch out for these people!

We were scammed today by a young girl selling books for her competitive cheerleading squad which get donated to St Jude. Like the other posts, she had all the answers, knew all the neighbors. She told us her family moved here from Texas and she graduated from HS early and will be attending Mizzou. Yes, we were scammed. Looked up the company after she left. Too late. Please beware! Do not buy. We did call the police but she was gone. She managed to scam four houses on our street alone. Alert your neighbors. We are located in Lake St. Louis, Mo.

I fell for their story, they got me all warm and fuzzy. They were for some youth group getting over some phobia or something. I asked them a million questions and they had all the right answers. I asked for their credentials too, and they gave me some generic card. Against my better judgement I ordered a magazine. They bamboozled me the entire time, kept me talking, not thinking. Stupid. After they left with my check, I checked out their website. Things weren't even capitalized correctly and there was no address or phone # for the company. I felt my stomach turn over. I then found these reviews. I just stopped payment on my check . Have to pay a fee for that, but better than the entire amount I suppose.

I just had a young lady come in here and try and sell me the same story. Something about the deal just did not sound right to me, but I felt sorry for her and I wanted to help. Once she left I looked up the website and found that it was a scam. I looked out my store window and saw her standing on the corner waiting to be picked up and I called her over. I told her that I had looked up information on their website and saw that it was a scam and I wanted my money. She did not want to at first, but she did eventually. If she reads this, thank you for doing right by me. Today they are in Rochelle, IL.

One man came to our door a few minutes ago (in Wichita, KS) claiming to be doing a literature drive as part of a communication skills requirement - something about getting a college grant. He said he was only a few points away from winning a trip to Italy. I could either buy his overpriced books or donate them to soldiers overseas or a children's hospital. Then he said that all of the books were donated by Barnes & Noble for the cause. On the receipt, it said it was an independent for-profit company. When I wanted to donate towards the children's fund, he said I could only do cash; after I refused, he let me write a check. As soon as he left, I googled the company's name and found this page. I went and found him and demanded my check back. He was very disgruntled and walked off, cussing.

The worst part was that he kept making me high-five his sweaty hand during his sales pitch.
