This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

In June of 2022, after learning of an old subscription, we have not been using with Message Heights - Towne Lake I've attempted to cancel the subscription, which was for $59.99 a month.

The agreement states the customer must give 30 day notice to cancel.

1st attempt to cancel, I was told by a staff member that only a manager can perform that and the manager was busy and would call me back. if they needed anything and claimed it would be canceled.

On July 6th, I saw on my bank statement that I was charged $20 from Message Heights - Towne Lake.

2nd attempt to cancel, I was told by a staff member that my account was placed in a "frozen" state and the charged was $20 instead of the $59.99, that way I could still use credits on the account.

I informed the staff member that I did not want subscription "frozen" I wanted it canceled. Again was told a manager would have to perform that and the manager was not available, but that the process takes 30 days so next month we shouldn't see a charge.

On August 6th, 2022, I again, was charged $20 again by Message Heights - Towne Lake

3rd attempt to cancel; I was initially told by a staff member on the phone that she was new, but the store policy was that I would have to come in person to have the account canceled. I could hear someone else in the background telling the employee what to say and when questioned, I was handed off to someone else.

A female, who identified herself as Adrian and stated that she was the store manager. Adrian claimed that she received info from a staff member saying I wanted the account to be frozen, not canceled. Adrian was argumentative and claimed she has to have "authorization" form the customer either by speaking to them or an email. Adrian initially claimed that she received an email from me and when asked for proof of that email, she said it was one of her staff members that told her.

Adrian then stated that if I now wanted to cancel, I would have to pay another month of $59.99 and then it would be canceled.

I've been told so many different stories and "policies" that apparently prevent a customer to cancel this subscription. I did not authorize any adjustments to any subscription and did not sign any update agreement or contract and want a full refund of charges back dated to June, when I called to have my account canceled, and it was "frozen" instead.

Country of complaint: United States

Desired outcome: I want for Message Heights - Towne Lake to honor my original request to have my account canceled. I want to have the $20 for the months of July and August and no continued charges or reasons to delay.
