My husband had a free account with MediaMax and received no warning that this change-over was going to happen. All of our photos were stored there as backup. We recently had a terrible computer virus that required the hard drive to be completely wiped. We thought that we could just download our "backup" pictures from Mediamax, but found the site shut down. Fortunately, we did have previous CD backups of our photos...we are now missing about 1 year of photos of our little girls. Completely unaccpetable. Apparently there were a few customers that did get notice of this, but it seems that the vast majority did not. Shame on Mediamax/TLU.

This site cons you into storing files there for free up to 25 M but then after a short while sends out an email notice requiring that you PAY within a week or your files will be deleted. Also cannot get in to retrieve said files because it asks for billing info for access. A total scam and now the Mediamax site has renamed itself to LinkUp but it's the same old scam. Stay away from this site!

Every single one of my files is missing after being a paying customer for 6 years. Users weren't notified about the move, weren't given a chance to backup their files and there's still no documentation for this crappy new service. Take your money elsewhere immediately.

Once I finally have available to me the files that I can actually salvage, having been a paying subscriber, I'm running away from this company as quickly as I can, and not looking back. In fact they should be prevented from being allowed to operate at all, their recent tactic was so mafioso in nature, pay us or lose.

I'm just glad that when doing a search for media max and the linkup one can now find the complaints first so that they are forewarned.

I opened a paid account on Mediamax just before it became Thelinkup. I paid $50 and got an account with 200 GB storage (or so, can't remember precisely) with some traffic limitations. It's OK for me, I need much space and I do not much care about the traffic. Transfer to Thelinkup changed the conditions so that I got 25 GB and unlimited traffic. But 25 GB is much less than I need while I do not much care about unlimited traffic. This turned the things so that I paid for a useless for me thing.

Moreover, my files uploaded to Mediamax simply disappeared with the migration although (fortunately) I uploaded not more than 2-3 GB. But among those lost files there were valuable for me ones.

I consider $50 I paid to be simply stolen. I also lost some data because of that "service" - this is much more serious lost. I also lost the time I spent on uploading the data and writing to their support.

I just wanted to add my own thumbs down vote to this section. There are a lot of scammers online but I've never seen anything quite so brazen as this. Shame on you!
