MadMuscles review: Madmuscles misleading practices, deceptive webdesign and dark patterns

MadMuscles.com shows a highly misleading checkout and subscription flow. Users are not clearly informed that they are agreeing to recurring charges via PayPal pre-approved payments. In multiple steps of the checkout, additional payments can be triggered through unclear interface design (e.g. “Next” buttons), without explicit confirmation of subscription terms or ongoing billing.

The result is that users may unknowingly end up with recurring charges and additional services they did not clearly intend to purchase. Cancellation and refund processes are reported as difficult, and refund commitments are often not fulfilled.

Overall, the platform relies on confusing and non-transparent payment flows that make it easy to unintentionally enter ongoing financial commitments.
