Longs Home Products review: Order for tub to shower renovation

A man by name of Archie, with Longs Home Products showed up at my home trying to sell me on tub to shower install. He was a good but hard closer type salesman. We are from NC. Showed my husband and I a few of his wall samples and then pictures for remodeling our bath. He was told no but stayed in our home for hours, until after 11 jĵp.m. He quickly pulled out prices & kept calling his boss at home, in between his measuring for his products from our dining to the master bath. He was forceful in presenting pricing, kept calling his boss and reducing the figure from $26,000 down to about $16,000 in a matter of half hour or less, and insisted that price could not be held past tonight. We felt pushed, and very uncertain about the decision, did not wish to sign anything. He told of his workers and what they would do next, be contacting us for any questions or concerns, products, changes, & take good care of our needs to remodel the bath. Before we knew it, he asked for signatures on a tablet, with down payment, no interest for 14 months until work was completed. Under duress, I looked at his hand held tablet, where a page was showing. I was not given time to read anything & told to only initial so he could leave. I hurried to sign (1) time, knowing, when he left we could cancel the contract anytime but a week before ordering, and we were 8-9 weeks out. We thought there would be time to check him and the company out. Was I wrong! He put a down-payment on my bank card, slammed everything shut, & was out the door. No contract was left, no receipt for down payment and no names to contact? Nothing to read or how to rescind with no numbers, address, or names to go to. We waited to hear from him the next week, and as nothing has come since 11-14-23 feel we need to dispute the $1600 charge he made & get in touch with courts to nullify the Contract not wanted. He claimed final promotion would allow us to pay another $14,000 without interest when work was done.

I feel we have been had! We just moved here, are renovating & need our funds. I do not want a lien against our new home in Florida, for any company. We have written to cancel. I will go to bank and dispute money he drew electronically, we hope that will be the end of it. Please help to get the contract canceled, as nothing but his folder was left with us, and get the dp back! We are older seniors and he saw an opportunity to get our money!
