Lois Stevens is a puppy mill and sadly also is the head of the ASDR registry (American Stock Dog Registry). She is mass producing Miniature and Toy Australian Shepherds and performing no health testing! Here is my horrifying experience do not buy from her!
We first bought a puppy from her that was 3 months old, this dog was supposedly health tested and was well socialized. After months of living with us, she was still unable to come into our home. At just 6 months of age, this female was so aggressive towards children that she had to be euthanized. I paid $1, 100 for that puppy. Her guarantee was to replace the puppy, great another headache! The second red merle female that came from her did not have the ill temperment of the first, but also came home at just 6 weeks of age. No reliable breeder should EVER place puppies at such a young age! At 8 months of age this puppy began to limp, she was taken to the vet and was diagnosed with the worst case of hip dysplasia that they had ever seen! At 8 months of age she surpased elderly dogs that were affected by hip dysplasia. The only options for her were euthanasia, a bilateral hip replacement or to make her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. We are trying to keep her happy for as long as we can.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you are looking for a mini or toy aussie, make sure that the health testing has been done! Protect your heart and your family, only buy from a reliable breeder.

When I saw the first complaint I pulled my hair out for months trying to figure out which puppy/what puppy/ how this had happened as I had no contact from anyone about a vicious puppy or one with severe hip dysplasia, much less involving the same buyer. Thankfully Lindsi Guillien came forward as soon as she realized that this actually had nothing to do with me or my dogs at all. Lindsi had been led to believe that the puppies came from my breeding; something she now knows was false. Someone is playing twisted games and this website falls right in with people of this caliber as it is impossible to contact any administrators of this website. It also allows people to post using false names without a good email address even. You have to wonder about people so twisted they don't even make sure they have the correct owner. And this website doesn't bother to check out anything, they plain don't care.

I also know it is because of that first posting that Paula and Clint Osborn, Osborn Family Kennels, got the courage to hide behind a false name and post about me. You see, I truly believe that Paula and Clint don't have a clue or they were trying to scam me for the dog and the money. They purchased a large older pup from me and I expressly told them to not let him off the lead until he was comfortable. They let him out of the truck and he was lost for about 2 weeks. Yes he was your typical aussie, he was unsure of his new surroundings and new people. He was not terribly afraid, yes he peed in the store, but it was because we hurried him inside because of the heat and he had been riding already for 6 hours. He made quite a puddle and was very embarrassed. Clint forgets to mention that he took him to the grass after we came out of the store and the dog had a BM for him on the lead, something a fearful dog will not do. They lost him almost immediately upon returning to their home. And in the same breath they told me he was lost, they started asking for their money back. I was 12 hours from them and I held off on the money hoping they would catch him. I practically talked them through everything from a live trap to leaving a kennel next to one of their females open in the evening. Finally when Clint told me he could have just shot him, I told them if they wanted any money back I had to have the dog back. Magically the next morning the dog was found and they wanted to meet. I agreed to meet them part way, on Clint’s way to work in another state, so I was the only one who drove out of my way, he, I am sure was paid mileage by his job. The night before Clint made the remark for me to be sure to bring cash, “not that he didn’t trust me”. I drove 7 hours one way the next day to meet him. It was well over 100 degrees and he had the dog in the back of his truck in a solid plastic crate sitting out in the sun. He opened the crate and the dog cringed in the back of his crate until he saw me. I took his lead and he drug me to my pickup and jumped into the back seat.
Yes I did keep some of the money, $50 to be exact. Our original deal was $500 for the dog and $50 for my trip to meet them in the first place. I thought they were nice loving people and he would have a good home, so I didn’t take the $50 for gas, only $500. I drove a total of 14 hours the first time and 14 hours the second time and gave him $400, so actually all I kept was $50 for gas since $50 was owed me from the first time. I really think they were scamming me as the dog was in great shape for one that was lost for 2 weeks in the heat and brush. When I got in the truck and pulled away he leaned over the seat and licked my ear. I feel so bad for him, as I think these people would have shot him if I had given them their money without forcing them to bring him back. So perhaps you might want to think twice about buying a puppy from this type of uncaring people.
I have saved all emails and Private messages Paula sent to me throughout the ordeal, and will happily share with anyone who does not believe me.

And this leads me to the second posting. Again someone faking an ID. Wow how clever! I knew right away who it was but checked with the show venue and no one by this name from Denton TX ever participated; in fact there is only one person from Denton, TX that shows Aussies, like me. Jeannie McAdams, who is shamefully the Secretary of NAMASCUSA. Jeannie is a very poor sportsman, in fact she usually complains about judges who don’t place her dogs. I soundly beat her at our last show and she was not happy. Yes my dogs will dig at the crate when they see me, or if I leave them alone, but they do not bark. My dogs love me and want to be with me, not a bad thing in my book. Jeannie’s dogs on the other hand seem to be zombie like, it is commented often by other competitors that her dogs seem to be drugged. They show no emotion, are never happy to see her when she returns to them or seem upset in any way to see her leave. They are content to lie in a crate all day and never move.
Jeannie, if you want this to end, remove your post. What I raise or have raised is none of your business, and just the fact that you want to bring up other issues shows you know nothing. Again I ask anyone who has a question, please ask me, I will not hide anything.
I have nothing to hide, I am posting my name, and correct contact info. Please before you decide to believe these people, contact me, I think you will change your mind.

The first complaint regarding Lois Stevens and a dysplastic puppy is a story that someone twisted and is blaming the wrong person for. They are false accusations against the wrong breeder. The puppies involved were bred by Sharon Halfinger. The first female puppy, which was destroyed, was out of a female dog that had been owned by Lois Stevens at one time. That is the closest connection to these dogs that Lois has. The dysplastic puppy is from unknown lines, because Sharon never provided any paperwork (pedigree, registration, vaccine record, guarantee, etc.) on this puppy. The owners of the dysplastic dog are treating her with medications to provide her with a better quality of life and reduce the pain of her bilateral hip dysplasia. Regarding the other posts on this page, there is always a two sides to every story. I have met Lois Stevens a few times and I am sure that she would welcome anyone to contact her directly to discuss the above matters.
The validity of this site this site needs to be questioned. It is owned and operated by an off shores account. Contacting anyone with this website regarding posts with false information is a near impossibility.

I have been to many shows where Lois Stevens has also been showing dogs. Her dogs generally speaking are very afraid, ill mannered, hyper, and many times are afraid of the judges when they come to examine them. It is quite embarrasing when she shows up at these shows. Most exhibitors try to get their dogs trained so they can at least lead them around the ring. When Lois comes to a show her dogs sometimes act like they have never been on a leash. Sometimes she can not even trot her dogs around the ring, instead they are fighting the lead the whole time. Her dogs will be barking constantly while crated and aggressively chewing at the metal cage trying to get out. I feel sorry for them. Not knowing their home life I wonder if they live in cages all the time. It could be their pedigree and genetics. Some fearful dogs are that way because of genetics. Her ASDR registry is not very well respected from what people that show that breed tell me. I am told she also has bulldogs and have gotten in trouble before for animal cruelty but changed her kennel name and has been getting away with her games.

Similar experince here bought a 7 month old male puppy from her as a pet and she had said that he had been living with a diffrent lady that had admitted to hitting him. Ok we have delt with beatin dogs in the past and thought he will be fine just have to earn his trust. Trip home went fine got home darted away we thought never to be seen again. Tried for close to a week to catch him an couldn't get anywhere close to him before he was gone finally got a live trap and got him. She had agreed to take him back and refund us what we payed. I drove over 10 hours with a dog that was so nervous he never left the back of the kennel that I had him in and got there meet with her everything was just fine until it came time to get our money back. she did partially refund us but did not give us the full amount back that we paided she said it was for her gas and because I had asked her to bring cash because apparently I offended her. which we had offered to pay for when we got him becuase she meet us and she refused. And she had verbally agreed to give us back a full refund. She handed me the partial refund turned around and got back into her pickup and drove off as fast as she could. The reason that the American Stock Dog Information is important is because she is one of 2 people that owns ASDR LLC. I will never do business with another dog breeder with out a contract. And yes you can have your dogs genetically tested for Hip Dysplasia that is why you see in puppy adds that the parents have Certified hips and Eyes. Do not do buisness with this women she also had bull dogs of some kind and has or had horses buyer beware. This dog showed extreme signs of being beat we could not get within 30 yards of him when he was loose and when we had him in the kennel he and you went in he would make circles around the outside of the kennel tring to get away and if you raised your hand or voice to him he would urinate.
