one more thing from Windancer, , , , , , , , I have no complaints like those of Lisa's about my puppies...Lisa begged me for a year for a male puppy..It was against my better judgement at the time..when she complained about skeletal issues, I talked to her vet who disputed the claims..She has never till this day sent me one scrap of vet information, after requesting many times...she "wanted her money back' She then claimed the puppy dropped dead from unknown causes...telling a friend "Now she will have to refund me" Her boyfriend Doug thoms, who posted many of the above glorifying her. had a falling out and told me she sold my dog and not to worry he was with a good family...I am so sorry I ever met the pathalogical lyer..

I am truly sorry all this developed...Lisa begged me for a male puppy, saying she had no male (which I found out later was false)...she adored him for six months, then started to complain about skeletal issues...I asked her to please submit xrays to me...she refused..just wanted a refund and threatened to put me on scam report if I did not...(I had no idea what scam report even was) I had daily conversations with her and at first felt horrible that I had sold her a puppy with problems...As time went on she had a falling out with her boyfried doug, who told me there was nothing wrong with the puppy and that she had sold it...(Lisa had told me it dropped dead) we are proud of our puppies here at Windancer and have developed our superior lines over 20 years ...we do stand behind them...So now because of dealing with lisa ( who changed her kennel name to Midnight Runner) I have a scam report that has caused me problems, as people don't know what the truth is...I can't blame them...All I can say is. we have tons of referrences, many 2nd and third time buyers. The proof is in the dog...IM sorry I ever met Lisa Martens... windancer

I just came across this site and I have to share also. I bought a Newf from Lisa and like the post above she has awful allergies. In fact a teaching animal hospital uses her scratch test as teaching since they are the worse they have seen. I wish that is it though she developed loose stools shortly after getting her and it cost a fortune to clear that up. She has neuro issues that the same animal hospital has stated is most likely genetic. You can't get Lisa on the phone once she hands off the dog. One more thing as a puppy she was aggressive. Took a lot of money in special training to get this under control. I love this dog and the breed. But Lisa has ruined me for getting another newf.

After all this banter back and forth here I opened my home to an 8 year old rescue Newf, she was used as a breeder, she was a mess when rescued, eye infection, ear infection, lower urinary tract infection, missing her coat in spots, broken teeth from trying to chew her way out of a cage (two were extracted), she doesn't know what a stuffie is or a toy.
She's been with me for a month now, before I would have to go to her bed in our bedroom when I came home, now she trots out to welcome me, prancing and tail wagging, I'm glad I could give her a home to spend the rest of her years in peace and quite and well cared for.

I just came across this and I wanted to share that I did get a puppy from Lisa and he is 3 now, but our Vet bills are VERY high because of all the allergies he has and should not have according to our vet. Do your research before purchasing.

I was filing some papers today on my Newfie and decided to google my breeder's name. We got our dog in 2006 from Lighthouse. I tried to research beforehand and found nothing but these internet sites weren't as popular then. Out dog was never "puppylike" when she came, very lethargic and subdued. Within 5 days she was diagnosed with parvo and spent 3 weeks in a dog ICU. Fortunately she survived. When I contacted Lisa, she insisted I sue the vaccine company, that it was the vaccine that made her sick. That bothered me as did the rest of our conversations so I cut off all contact. I'm glad I did seeing what I see now. We never went to the breeder's location, she was flown to us in MD from OH. Be very careful. Ask friends who have dogs or boarding sites for referrals. Don't go into it blind.

Well all this bantering back and forth has made up my mind to not buy a Newf from any breeder here in Ohio, I'll look elsewhere.

I have been researching and contacting breeders with regards to purchasing a SHOW QUALITY Newfoundland and I have e mailed Lisa about her dogs and possibility of a puppy, and well lets just say not a very nice response back from her she complained about my e mail address and did not tell me anything about her dogs she simply was Just rude.

And if anything, these ridiculous bantering has made me extra cautious in selecting the right breeder. I'm going out of state to one that comes highly recommended. Becareful frisbydog -- do your homework! :)

everything said about Lisa Martens is totally true, , , might want to read some of the reports on /scam report"...especially the story "thank God she has finally been outed" that poor woman was put thru the wringer...

All I have to say is I won't be going to any of the 3 breeders mentioned here (& on other sites) for my Newf. I am so confused to know who is telling the truth and who has quality dogs. But I will say this, even a breeder in MI said to definitely stay away from one of them. And that was without giving details on what I found online. I won't say which one.

well, you NEVER should have told all the lies you did and published those things about me to hurt my reputation. (after a threat to do so) you know what you did...I have never had an apology either about all the lies you told people about me...you can publish all the flowery things you want..It does not make it so...I repeat...to any consumer reading this...just call around to a few well known breeders...I don't need to say anything else...Lisa's negatives are too numerous to mention.. this is my last post...I am totally tired of this...IF you are so worried about being smeared (which you threaten other people with) just buck up, do a good job with your newfs, and people will know...publishing a few pedigrees on your site would be helpful...anyone worth their salt does that. along with the testings of your current dogs, , , , , , , , dogs from years ago are not an issue...

I have known Lisa for 6 years, and i can tell you from my dealings with her, that she is an amazing breeder! I am jealous of her kennels and wish i had a set up half as nice for my dogs. I have gotten 2 newfies from her and will get another from her. She has always been available for questions and has been an amazing help to me.

Well, I hate to see a friend who has helped me in many ways be 'shredded' like this, so I have to at least post my opinions & experiences. Let me start by saying that nobody wrote this for me or made me post here. I just know that I've known Lisa for about 12 yrs, got my 1st Newf from her then, Taylor lived to 10 yrs old and in that 10 yrs (especially the beginning), I had to have drove her nuts with all my questions, yet she was always there to answer. I even had a rescue Newf/Pyr that Lisa would help me with and give me advice, and then later a Pyr that she was always there to help me if she could. I have my 2nd Newf from Lighthouse, Jayd, and she's just perfect! Lisa was very helpful in every way in getting Jayd to me and to this day I don't hesitate to call or email her because I know she will always respond. Its horrible to read 'he said, she said' about someone that I don't feel would do those things - (based on my experiences)

This is Julie From Windancer Newfoundlands...Doug, her former boyfriend above, (and I say 'former') as lisa did some horrible things to him...Doug told me with his own mouth that Lisa dictates these negative posts to for people to put up about the ones she does not like. She literally writes them and sends them to people saying "IF you are my friend you will do this" He further told me along with another ex friend, that she SOLD my puppy to another person. He did NOT die, nor was there anything wrong with him.. I would add that most breeders are scared to death of Lisa based on her threats and the lengths she will go to smear people...I am not.. This is a horrible sick individual, and most people find out too late.. Just beware...

Lisa has numerour trolls and puppets that post on her behalf..praising her.. I would just say, If you have any doubts about her
or her repurtation, just call around to the reputable Newfoundland breeders and they will all tell you what a blight she is on the
newfoundland community..Falsely papering dog and puppies, puppies sold filthy and scared to death..no socialization. ask around.

This complaint is total nonsense. In the time I spent at Lisa's kennel, I did not observe any of the problems claimed by the person who filed this complaint.

I'm disturbed to read this. I have two Newfoundlands from Lisa, the oldest is 7 and the younger one is 3 (Fin & Bess). They are the most wonderful dogs I've ever had in every way. Lisa isn't only my breeder but has become my friend and has been there for me with my endless questions and taught me so much. She is great to deal with and shows her love for her dogs even after they've gone to new homes. The times I went to her kennel, she showed me her facilities and all of her Newfs were as friendly as could be! I wouldn't hesitate buying another Newf from her. My vet always says how healthy they are and what a fine example they are of the breed. I take my Newfs to visit my mother in the nrusing home regularlary and they have the sweetest disposition. This all needs to end. I seems like this is all coming from someone who is jealous and trying to slander a good person.

I have had exactly the opposite experience with Lisa Martens. My son and I bought 2 beautiful, healthy puppies from her, She was, and still remains caring and helpful. I have no idea what brought about the hateful comments but I wanted to share my experience.
