I worked for Laurel Oaks Animal Hospital for over one year and during that time I witnessed many things that were disturbing, unethical and very unprofessional. The Dr or the manager, Pat, would get mad at an employee and treat them like dirt. They would make up lies about them and treat them like dirt. Pat the manager was the worst, if she decided that somebody needed to be fired then she would start trash talking about that employee behind their back. She would be really nice to them while talking to them but she would then spread roumors about them to the other employees. While I was there they fired 3 people for stealing drugs, Then Pat and the Dr. talked about them to the other employees trying to get them to belive all the horrible things she was saying about them were true. It turns out that the girl that was one of Pat's "pet" employees was arrested and had the stolen drugs at her house. At that point we all thought that maybe Pat and her "pet" employee were the ones that were taking them and she was trying to cover her butt by blaming and firing all those people. She never called the cops, searched the employees or even talked to the employees that were accused. Just fired them and then tried to ruin their reputaions by telling anyone that would listen that those people were addicts or dealers. Then they hired a new supervisor, what did they do to the other supervisor? They blocked her out from meetings, treated her like she had leprosy, trash talked her and kicked her out of their office. Did they have the decency to fire her or let her keep her dignity? No, they finally let her go after their scare tactics and bullying didn't work. It felt like we were all in a really bad high school drama. Iv'e know the Dr. for several years and she use to be a good person but since opening her own clinic she has listend to that ugly little troll and trust her 100%. I know Pat would throw her own mother under a bus to save herself. she was in the perfect position to take advantage since she had the Dr. wrapped around her little finger. The Dr would belive ANYTHING that Pat said. Pat's paranoia really rubbed off on the Dr. so that she dosen't trust anyone but Pat. And that is just too sad because we could all see that she was being used and manipulated by her manger. Pat is a bad person with the morals of a hyena and the only one that can't see that she's been lied to and used is the person that is being used. I hope that she wakes up one day and understands how many people were hurt and that she has placed her trust in a woman that would leave her bed ridden husband lying on the floor un able to walk for over 2 hours while she played on her computer at work. That is heartless and cold, they have a special place in hell for people like that. Just in case you are reading this Dr. J. Once you wake up and realize that your Pat is only using you for everything she can get and that she is isolating you from the rest of the world. I'm sure that all those people that were wronged by your clinic would love to have an apology. And Pat, You are ### and when it's your judgement day I hope that you burn for eternity.

I also have had bad experiences. Over charging & prescribing two different medications for the same thing is just the beginning. I have witnessed mistreatment of employees as well, long story short bullying. After being over charged every visit, having the Dr. & tech talk bad/be rude when I asked questions I will not be going back. I would not recommend Laurel Oaks.

This complaint sounds like a personal grudge and is just the opposite of everything we experience. We were traveling from Pennsylvania on I95 with a 8 week old puppy. The pup got extremely sick, wouldn't eat or drink. She was very lethargic when we arrived in Camden county GA. So we looked on line and found Laurel Oaks, called and explained the situation. The doctor, though completely booked, said to bring her in immediately. She examined her and had great concern that she would make it home to FL if she did not get treatment and IV fluids.
This team was extremely helpful, gentle and were concerned also about my wife and I. We spent a night in a local hotel and they called us several times with updates. By the next morning at 11:00 am the pup was completed renewed and released to us. The dog is doing great today. By the way, Dr Clark provided a quote for the cost of treatment and kennel fees upfront. This is an amazing practice!

I do not know if the above info is true but i too am writing in regard to a clients point of view. Dr Clark is a really good vet, shes always been good to me and my pets. I was recommending them up until i was recently "fired" as a client by the manager because i request estimates. I had a dog with a swollen face and he couldn't open his mouth. I took him in and got meds. He required surgery, which i had planned to do at Laural. However it was estimated at over 800 and they were requiring vaccines on a sick dog. I had an appt schedule for the day Dr Clark wanted to do it. I contacted another clinic that i had been to before which was a few hours away. Another trusted vet. The estimate was 200 cheaper and no vaccines were required on a sick dog. So i elected to go to this clinic for his procedure and she was also willing to do the procedure the next day since i could not get meds into him due to his pain. I canceled my appt at Laural and when i spoke to the receptionist I explained my reasons why. A couple months later I spent about 2000 there within a 2 week time period with different dogs. While there I requested an estimate, and wrote down specific tests i was request. I was told they would call me with the estimate. Time went by, i contacted the manager who i was friends with to see if she could email me the estimate. She said she would print it and when i picked up a prescription for one of my dogs i could pick it up. Well the estimate was not correct and again i explained exactly what i wanted. I never did receive the estimate so i went else where. I ask for estimates because i have to budget. Not because i have to vet hop. Being a veterinary technician for over 17 years I understand all that. I do have different veterinarians i use for different reasons. and when my budget doesn't work with the estimate i get I have to go elsewhere. Despite being asked not to come back i thought i would let others know my experience. Never have had an issue with Dr Clark.

While this employee drama may or may not be correct, I am writing a response from a CLIENT's perspective.

After being disappointed in our pet's treatment from a couple of other local vets, we were recommended to see Dr Julie. She is an absolute gem of a vet! She is extremely hands-on with pets, giving them lots of hugs and kisses as she examines them - which she does very thoroughly. While her prices may be a little on the high side, the quality of vet care that she gives makes it well worth it and then some. Dr Julie even called us on a Sunday evening to give us a progress report on our cat.

We have also been treated with nothing but the utmost respect by her staff members. So regardless of what the above poster wrote, whatever drama may be occurring behind closed doors is not apparent in the least to me. They all present a unified front in regards to putting animal's well being first and foremost.
