Ingenix is retained by Evercare name of my insurance company's plan. I am insured with United Health Care. I have benefits which I have paid for working over 20 years, so thereforth the govenment did not take care of me I paid into the system. I call my insurance company United Health Care and was told I dont have to pay back any of my benefits was paid on my behalf on several phone calls. I was in a bad care accident and Ingenix wants a percentage of my settlement. Ingenix requested treatment informations, police report, attorney, other insureds insurance information, claimants and settlement information. This company is totally out of line.

We were in an accident in October of 2012 and started being harassed in February of 2013 by Ingenix. We haven't received any money but they kept sending us bills for reimbursing them until we finally told them we haven't received a settlement. I'm sure the bills will start up again once we do receive a settlement because soon after we told them we hadn't gotten anything, we got a letter from the other party's insurance company saying they had until October 2014 to settle our claim. Now after reading all of these comments, I'm wondering if this is a scam.

If you think about it rationally, though, doesn't it make sense? Your insurance company "insures" that any injuries you sustain are paid for, but why should they (or you, since it's your plan) pay for injuries you sustain because of someone else (3rd party liability)? I mean, I would want to be repaid for stuff I pay for if it's someone else's fault...

Although, Harry, if your insurance company doesn't use the money they recover to "refill" (?) your reimbursement account, then I definitely agree that something is messed up there.

It would appear that Ingenix (12125 Technology Drive • MN002-0220 • Eden Prairie • MN • 55344) Subrogation Servives is often retained by United Heath Care (UHC) to pursue a recovery for medical benefits that have been or may be paid by them on behalf of ____ for the treatment of injuries sustained arising out of the ____ injury.

Their letter further states:
"The plan has a right to pursue other sources of payment including other parties and their insurers for reimbursement of the medical benefits it has paid. In the event you have already made a monetary recovery from some other party or insurer in addition to your health plan DO NOT SPEND THE MONEY AT THIS TIME AND NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY, as we assert a subrogation and/or reimbursement interest on any settlement proceeds. "

To that end, I completely agree this sounds like a lot of legal mumbo-jumbo bull**** which, in my opinion, translates to " The insurance company is entitled to recover all of the monies they paid out for medical expenses, when such injuries are the proven fault of a 3rd party."

In my particular case, my insurance company hasn't paid out s***. Instead, they've depleted my medical reimbursement account (MRA) to pay for the sustained injuries.

Is it any wonder the American Healthcare System is so f***** up?

Ingenix is nothing more than a collection agency. All the funds they recover do not go back into the general assets of the insurance company. It is pure profit and helps with giving bonuses to executives. Subrogation is a complete scam. The actuaries that help create the cost of insurance do not take into account any reimbursement from subrogation. Attorney's that specialize in subrogation laugh all the way to the bank after they are paid from fools that give in to their scare tactics. Don't be a fool..

actually, Ingenix is the company that United Healthcare works with for things such as fraud and subrogation.
In some states, it is mandated that auto insurance covers as primary. when a health plan covers as primary, but the auto should have, ingenix will work in conjunction to UHC to regain the funds that they spent during the time that auto coverage was not. You specifically do not have to pay the funds back, but the auto carrier should be working with Ingenix to return the funds for the services that they should have been covering. .
