Your IGI check in process is not only slow and that's why irritating but also far behind international standards.
1. Why do you need to see ticket to check in an international traveller? Why isn't the passport sufficient?
2. Why don't you invest in better software and in meantime train your staff to use whatever legacy setup they sit on today?
3. On point 2 why your check in attendants need to run to another attendant on every second boarding request? Delaying two check in aisles. Anyhow out of 6 aisles on each gate, 2 are not manned. I am sure you can hire more workforce to at least give an impression that all check in aisles are working for us customers.
4. If passenger brings excess luggage why not just charge or make them stand outside line to weigh their luggage and not block a check in aisle and delay all others who wait?
5. on point 4 above is it going to break your financial report to put up few weighing machines outside the help desk or beside business class check in to help your staff deal with an overloaded passenger who takes hours to adjust the bags?
6. Point is not to come 6 hrs before flight but to reduce it to 2 hrs. You should give importance to passenger time and not to inefficient check in process, ill trained staff and age old software check in machines where details need to be typed in. Just scan passport and you are good to go.
7. Or simply put automate this process, save on salaries and get some profit into Govt books... hurts to see the state of affairs here. Just compare with any other TOP airport check in process and improve.
