We purchased a Husquavana mower new 2 years + 3 weeks ago from the dealer in Sevierville, TN. There is an issue with certain Briggs & Stratton engines with a compression release value that allows the engine to use a lower powered starter. Our son had a mower where his Briggs & Stratton engine went out because the compression release value broke. He bought an after market part and it broke in 3 months so he bought an OEM and it broke again after a year. When we bought our Husquavana, we asked about the issue and were told that this was no longer a concern with the Briggs & Stratton engine so we bought the Husquavarna mower at around $1800 including tax. Here we are 2 years and 3 weeks later with the exact same failure our son had and we are told by the dealer that it is not covered by the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. Beware of the warranties. They only cover what won't break. The fine print says that if it's a Briggs & Stratton engine that its the manufacturer's warranty which expired. The dealer wants $500 for the repair and now they say they have a whole shelf of these defective engines. This means they were not up front with us about the issue when we purchased the mower. I'm done with Husquavarna after that stunt and that's after liking their other products like leaf blowers and chainsaws. I am also done with Briggs & Stratton as this should have been a recall. Just search the web and you'll see many customers have been ripped off with these defective engines.

Desired outcome: Briggs & Stratton should own up to the defective engines and the dealer in Sevierville should have been honest with us when we bought it. Husquavarna should also more clearly state the engine warranty.
