On March 3, 2009, we purchased 14 windows for $9, 500 from Homefix Corporation in Gaithersburg, Md. On Nov. 25, 2013, I noticed that the seal on one of the bedroom windows was broken, The window shows spots, foggness and is wet inside. Since then, the seals have broken on every window. I immedately called Homefix on Nov. 25, 2013 and they told me that the manufacturer of our Xtreme windows, Accu-Weld Window and Door Company, went out of business and declared bankruptsy. They told me that the failure of the seals is a common problem with the Xtreme windows. On Dec. 3, 2013, I received a letter from the Homefix President Merrick Morse, telling me that since the company that made the windows is no longer in business, I have no waranty on my windows. Mr. Morse said in the letter that they regret the "impact, " this situation has had on us and as a "courtesy" to us they will try to repair the windows. But we will have to pay for the repairs. Since then we have called Homefix on Dec. 16, Jan. 6 and Jan. 20, 2014, trying to get someone to come out and look at the windows and no one has come. They keep telling us someone will come, but no one calls or shows up. Homefix is giving us the round around and they have no intention of fixing our windows, We also should not have to pay for failed windows we purchased from them. They are a horrible company and we are telling everyone to stay away from them. We have already filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Maryland Attorney General's Office. Next step, is the Maryland Home Improvement Commission.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Same problem. No responses. Windows Fogging up. I had them out to repair a number of the windows about 2 years ago in 2012, but since then a number of the windows they did not replace have failed. I called the a main number that I have [protected] and they confimed that Homefix of gaithersburg has gone out of business. They referred me to a company that may provided some help to replace the windows [protected]. Waiting for a call back from a Laine (sp) Anderson.
