I contacted Home Advisors and Angie to have my ceiling painted after having a water leak in my kitchen. I am insured with Liberty Mutual Insurance company. Liberty Mutual came out and did an inspection and paid me to get the water damage painted. I contacted Home Advisors and gave my information and stated that I needed my ceiling painted. A Mr. Don Banks, who was contracted with Angie's List came to my home and said he would do the painting and ask me to go the home depot and get the paint for him. $250.00 dollars was the cost of the paint, 1 gallon grey which was supposed to be for the bathroom. $200.00 for 5 gallons of white paint for the ceiling. Once we got back to the house. Mr. Banks said that he would do the job for $750.00 instead of using Angies he stated that they would only pay him $300.00 . I paid him 7 one hundred 100.00 bills and a $50.00 bill. Mr.Banks taped up the living room and the hallway with blue painters tape. He even put a tarp over my living room furniture. Mr. Banks said he suddenly got a headache and left to get medicine. Unfortunately Mr. Banks never returned to my home. I waited several hours and called his number, He never responded
to my voicemails. Contacted him 3 days later and this time he stated that he aunt has passed away and would leaving out of state and would return on Friday to do the painting. He never returned but kept the money. I contacted Home Advisors and told them the situation and they stated that would follow up with Mr Banks. Problem still not handled, They sated at Mr. Banks is no longer contracted with their company, but they contacted him and said that he stated that he could come and do the painting. 2 months later I still have not had my painting done and to top it off, Home Advisors tried to charge me twice $850.00 through my Wells Fargo checking account. They stated that once the job was completed, they would charge me the fee of $850.00. I am a retired Air Force Veteran and also just retired from state service after 20 years. Home Advisors and Angie's List is an awful company and Angies list 'as well, I paid for the services and never received anything bur overdraft notices from my checking account. I had to cancel the debit card and have the bank send me out another one. I served 20 years in the military and 20 years with the Department of Rehabilitation helping the disabled and have fostered over 60 teenage boys since 2003, I have never been treated this way from such a large company. I've had the privilege of working with 5 presidents, escorting president Reagon, President Ford, Jimmy Carter, President Bush, I would not recommend Home Advisors or Angie's list to any one. Please post this so everyone can see what might happen to them.
Desired outcome: Have not head from them in over a month to get any information from them.
