Hartley Watches review: Terrible

I couldn't have had a worse experience with Hartley Watches.

My watch arrived on June 30 in non-working condition. I emailed the company immediately (that day) to report the problem, but despite the statement on their website that "we typically respond to emails within minutes and guarantee a reply in 12 hours," I didn't receive a response for nearly a week.

I only heard back after sending additional emails and submitting messages through their website stating I'd be posting reviews on their company; then suddenly I hear back from them immediately with the claim that my original email went to their junk folder. I didn't believe this, but whatever, at least they finally responded.

They instructed me to replace the battery and agreed to reimburse me for the cost, so I took the watch to a local repair shop and had the battery replaced.

After replacing the battery, the watch still doesn't work.

On July 24, I emailed Hartley again on the same email thread to inform them the watch still doesn't work. I sent a video as proof. Once again, I've been waiting over a week and have heard nothing from them.

Again, I'm thinking of their "12 hour guaranteed reply" - why even write this on your website? Oh, I know. To lull potential customers into thinking you're a legit business. Right.

I even replied on the same email stream we'd been communicating on, so this time the claim can't be that it "went to their junk folder."

As of the date of this review, I have received a defective watch, have followed all of the company's instructions, have provided video evidence of the defect, and still have not been offered a replacement or a refund. I haven't even gotten a reply to my emails.

I have now filed formal consumer complaints against Hartley Watches and am pursuing a dispute process through my credit card company in an effort to recover my money.

I would never order anything from this company again. It's been nothing but a hassle.
