After 2 major hailstorms last year, I had my entire roof replaced just a few months ago. There has not been one bit of hail fall since my roof was replaced. Today, 3-29-10, Harmony Roof and Construction, [protected]/[protected], info AT harmonyroof.com, left a door hanger on my front door informing me my roof has hail damage and needs to be replaced.

Harmony Roof also stopped by my house when i was in need of quote for roof repair after a tree pierced my roof. They said my roof had hail damaged and asked if an adjustor had been out to look at the roof after the tree fell. I told them they had. The sales woman said that the insurance company (Allstate) didn't do their job and assess the entire roof because it so obviously had hail damage.

Harmony contacted Allstate and Allstate sent an adjustor back out to my home. He couldn't find a single indication that my roof had hail damage. I was surprised since the sales woman seemed so confident that Allstate had not done their job.

We decided to go with Harmony to fix the roof because the sales woman said that they would replace the entire decking board where the tree fell thru and none of the other quotes we got mentioned that. We thought that was what was best for our home because she told us that if you just put a board over the hole, overtime it would sink and compromise the roof.

The roof looked great once it was done but a few weeks later, while preparing our home for the holidays and moving some boxes into the attic, we discovered the hole from the tree was STILL THERE! Just with shingles over it.

I was shocked and appalled. Surely this neglect was a mistake. We called Harmony and told them of the problem. A few days later the president of the company came by and we showed him the hole. He repaired it that day.

HOWEVER - The repair was done incorrectly according to their own sales person. When we complained to the president, he said he be back by to check it out. That was November 17th. We haven't seen or heard from him. We've left messages. We've sent letters.

Beware of this company and their shady practices or you could end up with a bigger hole in your roof decking and a lot of wasted time.

PS: How interesting to find a response from the president here since he can't respond to my messages or emails. Maybe now I'll have his attention? Doubtful.

I tried to speak with the homeowner, but was unsuccessful. He was very emotional as he had just replaced his roof. From this perspective, his emotion was somewhat justified. The salesman that placed a door knocker should have noticed a new roof and skipped his house.
I tried to explain to him that we had salesmen in his area because there was significant damage to many roofs. In fact, we have replaced several roofs near his house. I also tried to explain our procedure. We meet with a prospective customer to see if there is any roof damage. If not, then we cannot do anything for the customer. If damage exists, we ask the customer to file an insurance claim. Later, we meet the insurance adjustor at the house. If the adjustor determines there is no damage, then we cannot do anything for the customer. If there is damage, we work with the insurance company and customer to replace the roof within the insurance scope.
We did not attempt to defraud anyone, ever. In fact, there are so many checks and balances within the insurance and mortgage system, that it is impossible to defraud anyone. If the insurance company agrees to pay for a new roof, they write a check payable to the homeowner AND the mortgage company. Only when both parties endorse the check, can the homeowner release funds to us for the repair. Our normal turnaround is two days from a released check to a completed roof.
We take pride in our work and our integrity. I only wish I could have had a two-way conversation with this homeowner to explain all of this to him.
