Garshangan Kennels review: Dog returned-Did not pay us back

We purchased a Wheaten Terrier Puppy from Sheilah Hanlon, who owns Garshangan Kennels in St. Agatha, Ontario. When we picked up our puppy, Sheilah explained that she had never had a puppy returned to her before, but it was very clear in our contract with her that if we did need to return the puppy, we must deal only with her as she would have the best chance of re-homing the puppy. We had our puppy for approximately 10 months. We had struggled with the dominance this dog showed towards our youngest daughter who was 5 at the time. Kinsey (the puppy) was constantly trying to bite our daughter, pin her down on the ground, bite her clothing, etc…, and when she actually broke the skin, we sadly decided that Kinsey was not going to work for us. We were all devastated at the decision we had to make, but it was best for all. I really believe that Kinsey would only thrive in a family with no children. I emailed Sheilah (she NEVER answers her phone), and she called me back immediately. It was March 30, 2013, and we made arrangements to bring Kinsey to her the next day. She had someone coming to her place on April 1st, who Sheilah said had just lost her 19 year old Wheaten, and was looking for another. This woman was married with no children, no grandchildren, so we were very hopeful that she would love Kinsey. We signed a contract with Sheilah, dated March 31, 2013, that states "The original family will receive any monies that come from the resale of this dog". Very clear. We left Kinsey with Sheilah on March 31st, with her crate, some toys, a blanket she loved, food I was feeding her and a very sad goodbye. Sheilah promised she would call us AS SOON as the woman had come by on the 1st. We did not hear from Sheilah, so I called her and she called us back a few days later saying the woman "loved Kinsey". Sheilah was just going to get Kinsey "ready to go" and the woman was picking her up in a few more days. I completely neglected to ask what Sheilah had received for Kinsey. I was just so completely relieved to know Kinsey was going to be loved. We never heard from Sheilah after that. So, again, we called her. She finally called us back and said that the woman was giving her $700 for Kinsey and that she would then forward that money to us. Here we are, 10 months later, and I have not heard from Sheilah. We have called her, left messages, sent emails, had my lawyer draw up a letter with a copy of our signed contract saying that she had 7 business days to get the money to us. I am sickened by this. I should never have trusted her. I always had a strange feeling about Sheilah. She was always too hard to get a hold of. She insisted that we only feed her the Costco food that Kinsey was eating when we got her. It was not nutritional at all. I took Kinsey to the vet right away to have her checked as she had only had diarrhea since we got her. She had giardia and had been given to us in that state. I never complained to Sheilah as we were just so thrilled to get our puppy out of her care. This woman is NOT to be trusted at all. I hope that anyone looking to purchase a Wheaten Terrier is wary of her and her operation. The CKC told me that I have no recourse through them, so I needed to get this complaint down in writing.
