I have lived in Manhasset, NY for three years now- and had always walked by Gallery Couture, finally today I had the time to pass through. Now mind you, today is Saturday- so i was jeans and a more relaxed "attire.. Upon entering the store- the sales woman was extremely rude. Looking me up and down- with a dirty look and rolling her eyes. I honestly felt like Julia Roberts in pretty woman. (minus the hooker attire)
I was looking around, when the rude lady says very abruptly "what are you looking for?" I replied "nothing in particular, but thank you". She had the audicity to snicker at me and huff and puff. I was so upset by her facial gestures, body language and negative vibe. I walked up to te very unwelcoming sales woman and told her that I live right down the street and have always wanted to come in do some shopping. She laughed hysterically at me... and said "Oh well have u tried the store down the street then?" I said well i work in the city and am looking for "work/ professional" clothes. She again looks me up and down and laughs and says well i'd start with some new pants- looking right at my jeans.
I was so taken back that I walked out and told my husband about this horrible customer service and basically was told to go to shop at other store down the stree. He told me to go back in and speak to the manager. Well, i go back in and speak to the manager and he was even worse than the first rude lady. His reply to my concerns of horrible customer service "well i don't know what your trying to get at... but we have been a local business for 20 yrs. WELL! I know why [censor]lady referred me to the other store because35 and because she didn't think i could afford the $300-$400 dresses, and that i was more suited to shop at the less expensive store- where the dresses are $89-100ish. I know exactly what she was getting at! Mind you- I have several work dresses that are similar to Gallery Couture's prices. This store sells all the same designers that Bloomingdales does- Tahari, Robert Rodriguez, Cynthia Steele- honestly I will not go to this store ever again. I will let all my family and friends know to not go here and to rather go spend there money at Bloomingdales or any other store. The arrogrance of this establisment! I will be sending them a a letter with a photocopy of my purchases at the other stores, informing them to the business they missed out on. I honestly do NOT know how this store stays in business. Management is just as bad as the sales force they employ! I urge you at all costs- do not support store.

It is true that folks at Gallery Couture are rude indeed. Not everyone gets a friendly hello.
The store sales low quality cheap clothing for quadruple the amount their worth. Some Manhasset residents do not mind wasting their money on this cute crap but others do.
Manhasset residents are taking note and have stopped supporting this obnoxious, snobby, fraudulent establishment.
Hi, In response to your post, I've been a customer of Gallery Couture for over 10 years now. I don't live in the area.
I also walked in with casual attire on. The sales woman couldn't be any nicer- or more helpful to me. The management then came out and said hi and told me how nice the outfit looked on me. I had mentioned to him I was
looking to get out of my comfort zone and he complimented me that I was willing to try and he was more than willing to help. He spent the next hour waiting hand and foot on me. Even if I thought something looked good on me. He would tell me the truth and say, no a bit to short, or yes, this is great. I've never had so much fun in a store as I did with the management at Gallery Couture. I ended up having lunch with them. Ten years later I'm calling for a dress as I write this. If you want to look your very best, Go to GALLERY COUTURE! the ONLY place to go
