Anyone thinking of doing business with First Progress should look at the complaints here and with the Better Business Bureau. I opened the First Progress secured credit card account with a deposit of $500 to help to rebuild my credit. I tried to do a cash withdrawal in May 2023 that was denied and flagged as fraudulent. Afterwards, I paid the pending balance due to maintain a zero balance. Upon deciding to utilize the card, I called customer service

on 8/21/2023 twice to confirm no fraud and address the membership fee. During the first call, customer service transferred me to Fraud. After waiting 5 minutes, I utilized the option to reserve my place in line by leaving my name, number and await a call back. After more than an hour with no call back, I called again and waiting for Fraud. The recording indicated the wait time was more than 40 minutes. I again left my call back information. Unfortunately, I didn't receive a callback from the 2 messages. Upon receipt of the next statement, I saw a $30.00 late charge for a membership fee. I called again on September 17th to dispute the charge. I experienced the same process. I left my call back number and info. because of the exorbitant hold time. I waited to no avail. Upon receipt of the next statement, I was charged another late fee on the membership charge. I called 4 times on October 21st to explain the issue. Twice upon the transfer to Fraud the call was disconnected. I called the 3rd time and expressed my frustration to customer service. I asked for a refund of my $500 deposit. I was informed that it would take 60 days to get my deposit less the membership fee. I explained that I haven't been able to use the card, so a fee was unreasonable. I was informed that if I had complained within 30 days of the fee it could have been credited. I explained that was the reason for my call in August. The adj. couldn't be made until the fraud restriction was lifted. As of today, the fraud hasn't been lifted and the account hasn't been closed to issue my refund despite the fact that the 4th call on 10/21/2023 was with a team lead that indicated a refund would be issued. However, I needed to send a fax or a letter to address my concern regarding the $39 membership fee. I asked for a manager. It would be 2 weeks before a manager would call. Now that it has been more than two weeks and no call back, everyone should know, this is truly a company that doesn't understand or value customers or service. I want my $500 deposit asap with interest.

Desired outcome: I want my $500 deposit asap with interest and no adverse impact to my credit for closing the account.
