I am a professional body piercer and I work in a store that is great and have great clients etc. But during the week i get 15+ customers from Essential beauty come into my store with infections, piercings with wrong jewelery, poor or no aftercare advice, complaints of non sterile procedures, tools and jewellery etc and its not just in the area i work in its all over Australia.

Essential beauty stores should be shut down and/or sell the business to people who actually know what the hell they are doing!

I hear from EVERYONE they nickname essential beauty to "Essential butchers".

Why are they still in business?

This disgusts me and i think someone should do something about it ASAP!

Stores like that make people who are in the body modification industry look bad.

I had piercing done in my ear helix and nose piercing. About 10 yrs ago I had both these piercings done in Sydney with a private salon. Decided to go with Essential beauty this time to get them re-done. The lady used the incorrect sized earring for my helix, she jackknifed the rear screw so I could not ever get it off again, she put the nose piercing in on a really bad angle. I was in agony for 3 months with the helix. I bought new jewellery for both piercings as my skin didn't like the cheap stuff they used. I could not for the life of me do a change over of either piercings! I had to attend a professional certified piercer and she spent 15-20mins trying to change my nose piercing over, said it had developed sores etc and wrong angle.. had to pay her to changeover even though I was able to do change overs at home with my previous nose piercing. Helix was even worse! the certified piercer spent 25mins trying to get it out for changeover, she used multiple tools, she said if the last resort didn't work I had to go to a GP to have it removed! Contacted Essential Beauty twice, showing my receipt booking etc...they didn't even get back to me, contacted head office, didn't get back to me!

I worked for them at head office..no training, no support, no standards every franchise is different because you are relying on who owns the store..l..
Biggest reason is the greedy ceo takes 20% of every franchisees gross turnover so they cut back on standards...it’s the biggest franchise Ponzi scheme in Australia and once you’ve bought one you realise the only one who makes money is the pig at the top!

I had a spray tan done, not the first one I have had but certainly first and last one i am having at essential beauty.
The service was awful. Girls friendly but insincere - got called 'hun' over and over. The spray was uneven with a massive streak on the back of my arm. My chest was very pale in comparison to the rest of my body. My elbows and heels look dirty and people at work are commenting on how bad it looks. I noticed the uneveness when I went to use the dryer in the salon and pointed it out to the girl who resprayed the arm - you dont have to be a genius to work out that this wont work but she assured me it would. Of course next day - still obvious. When I rang and spoke to the manager at the marion store she told me it was just my skin and the way it took the tan. She won't refund me but offered to do another tan later - i said to her that if you think its my skin then how will a second tan prove to work any differently? the girl who did the tan has written down in the book apparently that the streak appeared after i got dressed which is a complete lie as i was drying off at the time i noticed it. DOnt waste your money on these crooks - only a matter of time before they go bust because they are incompetent!
