Got a letter from Elite Staffing a temp agency along with a check for $2974.00. Apparently they said I have been selected as a CSR Evaluator. My assignment is to pose as a potential customer at the assigned establishments and evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of service rendered. It instructs me to deposit the money into my checking account and then immediatly give them a call for further instructions.

The letter also says Im suppose to make a purchase of $50 at Wal-mart and then do an evaulation of the service. It then says to go to Westtern Union and transfer $2660.00 of the money somewhere which will coast -/+ $60. The remaining $200.00 is for me to keep. The letter came in a hand writen envelope with no return address. The letter also instructed me to call them once the check was deposited for your assignment. So I call, a guy answers the phone.

He told me a little bit about the company. He also told to call him back after the check had been deposited into your account. He did tell me that his company has been in business for over thirty years and he also provided a website, www.elitestaffing.com. I dont know, this just doesnt sound right. Could this be a company that is try to take advantage of people who are looking for work? Im staying clear, getting rid of the check.

I just received two emails from Elite Staffing and first went to their website, which basically says nothing... gives no idea of what they do or how they do it. After reading several scam boards, I returned their emails with a note to take me off their list or I would forward their correspondence to the Attorney General's office. Both emails were immediately sent back to me as non-working sites.

This is indeed a scam.

First it sounds like a very popular $ scam. You deposit the check, do as they say and after it's too late, the check bounces and you are out the money you spent and sent at their direction. Obviously unprofessional in their mailing abilities. Since when does a company pay you IN ADVANCE to do something? The ones that I have worked for that require me to buy something always send a debit card with a limit on it and after I prove I have done the work, then I'm paid. I found your complaint after receiving an email from Elite PLUS Staffing and my intuition tells me to do my homework before proceeding with it. Not sure if the companies are related. Elite Staffing is listed in the Better Business Bureau site with multiple locations. You can pull up the one you are/were thinking of dealing with and see what if any issues they have and if resolved or not. You didn't say if you signed an independent contractor agreement with them, but no reputable company will have you do things with out one. Remember too, bad people can work for good companies - if your unsure, ask to speak to a supervisor and ask questions!
