I recently published a paper on Vehicle Dynamics in a reputed journal from the USA. I was so proud that I got featured in one of the best journals on the planet. I had spent several sleepless nights on that paper and wanted it to get really successful really fast. I should have been more careful when I received an email from E-Cronicon publishing house.
E-Cronicon suggested that I should publish my paper on their website if I wanted to get more views. I had no clue that E-Cronicon was just a big scam. So, I was psyched that within 1 month my paper will feature in two different journals. I asked E-Cronicon to show me how it worked. Seemed pretty simple at first as E-Cronicon sent me an infographic with all the necessary information. They said that my paper will be published on their website within a week.
E-Cronicon praised its services very highly and said that it got millions of views every week. I was excited to share my paper with E-Cronicon. So finally, I did it. I completed the procedure and stayed in touch with Mike from the E-Cronicon via phone to do so. After completion of the procedure, I learned the hard truth. The truth that said that E-Cronicon is nothing but a group of highly professional predatory publishers.
One week after I submitted my paper E-Cronicon said that I need to pay 50 dollars as a token amount for them to publish my paper. I was shocked! Why were they asking for my money to publish my paper? Nonetheless, I thought that this is a small amount to pay if my paper gets enough recognition. So, I transferred the amount via PayPal. Now, E-Cronicon said that they will take 1 week to publish the paper again.
I was furious! E-Cronicon promised to publish it within the week and now they were asking for additional time. However, I did not act on my anger since I did not want to run my reputation in the community. So, I patiently waited for one more week. After a week, E-Cronicon sent me an email saying that they will publish my paper by the end of the day. However, before that, I need to pay 450 dollars for them to do so.
E-Cronicon left me spellbound! I called Mike and he said that this amount is completely refundable as soon as your paper hits the popularity chart with 1000 views. I was a little relieved since Mike was extremely friendly. So, I invested 450 dollars more with these predatory publishers. At the end of the day, I received an email from E-Cronicon that said that my paper was now published. The email also had one link to the website where it was published.
As soon as I clicked the link, a download began. I was psyched! E-Cronicon sent me an attachment to my own paper? I deduced that either something was wrong or I was scammed. I called Mike and he said that this was just the paper which they published now I should receive another link within 24 hours. This time I had enough and I was sure that E-Cronicon had scammed me. However, I still waited for 24 more hours.
After 24 hours, I called Mike again and he asked me to be patient as the publishing will occur on Monday instead of the weekend. I was losing my patience now and yelled at Mike for being so irresponsible.
Now I was sure that E-Cronicon was a group of predatory publishers. However, I waited until Monday to see some results. I got no link on my email. Also, Mike's phone has been unreachable since that day. Now I realize that I have wasted so much time as well as money with this scam known as the E-Cronicon publishing house.
I should have been more vigilant in searching for negative reviews on the E-Cronicon con publishers in my locality. While searching for a different number to contact E-Cronicon I found several negative reviews for these predatory publishers on the internet. I felt so betrayed and out of place. These negative reviews showed how people were scammed for thousands of dollars.
I suspect that E-Cronicon will have already misused all the information on my paper and sold it to several students at high prices. I read one negative review one in which the author chose the group of predatory publishers, E-Cronicon to publish his book first. In his case, E-Cronicon claimed the rights to his book and published it under the name of some other author. In short, he lost all credibility for the book and did not receive a single dime for it. E-Cronicon completely destroyed that author's reputation and misused his book. Now, that author cannot publish the same book with any other publication house.
The predatory publishers at E-Cronicon run a scam with high levels of professionalism. These fraud people have destroyed several dreams up till today. The con publishers have also damaged the reputation of several authors in the scientific community with negative reviews and complaints against them.
I read one very disheartening complaint against E-Cronicon one day that suggested how it successfully scammed one person of 10, 000 dollars! This author went through the loop several times before realizing that something was wrong. While my first instalment was for 50 dollars, his instalment was for 500 dollars!
E-Cronicon is a group of con publishers that is tarnishing the good name of the scientific community. It uses all the tools at its disposal to loot your money and keep you in the loop for a long period. I have raised a complaint with several online scientific communities to make sure that strict action is taking against this fraud as soon as possible. I would suggest my fellow researchers stay away from these predatory publishers known as E-Cronicon to save money as well as time.
