I had to sign-up with download-gate.com to be able to download a file. I thought I signed-up for a 3-day period for $1.95. My CC account shows a charge of $41.90 plus a foreign transaction charge. I have not been able to download the file. My attempts to do so result in being cycled through several other websites. I have received "confirming" e-mails from download-gate.com which also contain URLs for filesdelivery.com, myfiles-member-area.com. The charge on my CC account is from sky-bit.com. None of these websites have support phone numbers. One of the e-mails does contain two USA phone numbers. One does not work, the other asks for your CC number. An order number ID was provided but the websites did not recognize it.

Download-gate.com, or whatever name it also uses is a scam and is to be avoided.

What are you all talking about? I've downloaded so many files using Files Express and for quite low price, so I'm ready to shut my eyes to some inconveniences. Yeah, they are not fully custemer-oriented people and the refund procedure is not always what you expected, but show me the company which returns your money back with pleasure...if you weren't careful enough and got overcharged, fight for what's yours

Thanks Mike! It feels more encouraging now. At least I know that banks intimidate them rather than feeling desolute at no resolution to my favour.

If they do not refund me, I'm certainly taking it to my bank to dispute the charges. There's definitely something very fishy and dubious when they put the prices of membership fees in USD but to my horror they've charged me about 1060 Russian Rubles! Talk about charging the wrong amount.

Just wish word could get out more to warn more people to stay away from that site lest they get scammed too..
Meanwhile, I'll continue to try to pry my money from these awful scammers.

I've had success in obtaining a refund from these fraudsters and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be or maybe I just got lucky.

After repeated e-mail traffic with their so called customer support section and no clear resolution in sight I contacted my bank and explained my situation and they confirmed that download-gate.com was in their current list of the top ten scams and that in order to investigate them for a possible charge back I needed to send an email asking for a full refund.

I sent off the said email saying it was required by the bank for their investigations and within the hour I had a reply back saying I would receive a full refund within 5 working days.

I thought yeah, yeah this won't happen but in less than 5 days all the money was back in my account.

My advice for what it's worth, is firstly keep well away from this company but if like me you do unfortunately get stung, then involve your bank as apparently they do not like the bank asking too many questions, funny that!.

I also heard that US banks haven't had as much success as some overseas entities who are making download-gate.com's life hell, how true this is I'm not sure, just don't give up trying for what your'e owed.

If it makes you feel better Mike, I've got scammed too and I've made a request for my 3 day right of refund that so far has been pretty much been denied. Not because it's not within the 3 days, but because according to the support system, it's my fault.

What they'll do is pretend that you made no mention of the refund and just continue blaming you and saying you made a mistake it's your fault that you got charged that overcharged amount. And then they'll end it with a "I'll be glad to guide you to using the service"

Chances of getting a refund even within the 3 day period is less than 0% because in the first place, it's a scamming website that does not even adhere to it's own terms and conditions. People who actually get their refund are few and far inbetween, most of the time just lucky to get it back.

I'm still holding out to getting my refund back as I rightly deserve to, making sure to screenshot all conversations just in case they delete it and tell me my 3 day right to refund is over.

Still, chances are less than 0% when you're reasoning with a scam.

Thanks for the post. You just saved me a headache. I wanted to download a music application but it just seemed too good to be true. I figured if it didn't work at least I would only be out $1.95. Glad I took the time to scout around.

I also thought I was signing up for a three day trial at $1.95, then I get a Visa charge for $120.00 NZ, their explanation at customer support is that its my fault as I did not uncheck the options boxes and should have been more careful at the check out stage and that the 3-day right of refund is over.

All this is bad enough, but the real kicker is the damn thing wont work, it says that I haven't paid so I can't download anything and they won't give any of my money back.

My advice is this company is operating a reasonably clever scam and to keep well away from any dealings with it.
