I rental for a couple years from Devonshire Apartments. I thought I was leaving across country so instead of renewing my lease. I give notice more than 30 days' notice I was ending my contract. I advised I would use my deposit and pay the remainder balance upon turning in my keys. The kept charging me fees late payment fees and some processing fees and I advised I knew my rights and we went back and forth via email, and they filed an eviction.
I clean out the apartment took pictures and video give them a copy with a money order for the remaining balance. I should up for court and the case was dismissed by them.
I am trying to get housing now and was declined because Devonshire is showing up on my credit report and it should have never been there.
Why am I being penalized for doing everything within my legal right?
This company do not have a process in place for people's right to end the contract within the rights of the consumer.
