Frank Faillace of West Linn, Oregon owns these dives. Security wants disgruntled customers to take their gripes up with him, “take it up with the owner, I’m just doing my job.”

My gripe is about requiring customers to submit to ID scans just to go inside. I had not been there in years and never thought I’d see the day when a strip club owner starts compiling a database on all his customers like the FBI. People often give their ID to security unsuspectingly thinking they’re just getting their age verified when in fact your ID is being put in a special scanner that extracts your picture and all your other information before inserting it into a database which is used by other strip clubs.

When confronted the staff admit doing it at other clubs as if that makes it alright. That just means other clubs are compiling information inappropriately as well. Nothing about that is alright. The end result of submitting to ID scans such as these is indistinguishable from registering as a sex offender.

Perhaps registering some customers like pedophiles might be alright if they do something wrong like touch a girl without her permission, get into a fight, etc. but the argument that they need to do this just in case you’re “a grabber” so that you can’t get into other clubs which share your information with one another has no merit. It amounts to treating you as guilty until you prove yourself innocent by not doing anything without her permission which in consensual cases girls often deny giving to avoid getting into trouble.

Often strippers sell private dances by telling guys they can do more than the law allows (ex: “sitting down next to you with her boobs up against your body and saying you can play with them if you buy a private dance” or rubbing your inner thigh at the bar before saying she’ll make it “extra special”). When girls get caught selling illicit favors they almost always try to blame the customer even though security footage, if it exists, almost always shows her being more than consensual. I’ve never been accused of being “a grabber” but I only buy private dances from girls who proposition me with more than just a standard dance. If you see me going back there it means she claims to be cool.

Then there are any number of other situations in which the staff will almost always blame you for their problems. You might stumble in drunk and have words when they refuse to sell to you or end up in a fight defending yourself from some random tweaker. Either way you were involved in something, they have your information, and those they share it with have it too. At least the life invaders at big tech companies have to get you to click a button stating you understand what you’re sharing with them, who they share it with, and agree to let them use your data for various things. These people take your identity often unsuspectingly, share it with God knows who, and do God knows what with it.

This invasion of privacy reminds me of articles written by Kashmir Hill in recent years exposing Clearview AI for their buggy facial recognition software. Like Clearview AI, Mr. Faillace seems to think your face belongs to him.

Devil’s Point is not the only sleazy strip club Faillace is involved with. According to media reports he also is co-owner of the Kit Kat Club, Star Theater, and Sassy’s. He is also the registered owner of Lucky Devil on Powell and Dante’s Inferno downtown. The latter is not a strip club but rather a popular bar with a satanic theme. This author was once a guest on a comedy show at Dante’s many years ago. I appreciated the hospitality, free drinks, and free advertising despite the jokes at my expense. Never once did anyone try to register me like sex offender.

Desired outcome: I want owner Frank Faillace to stop forcing every customer to consent to an ID scan before entering.
