My darling little Yorkie kept being bloated and lethargic. I had put him on a calorie reduced diet to help him lose weight. No matter what I did, he stayed bloated. Finally, his lethargy caused me to take him to Desert Dunes. The doc told me he was obese and I needed to stop giving him too many treats. I explained that I did not give him treats, but he did not lose weight anyway. He weight almost 14 pounds that day at the vet. Ultimately, my darling collapsed and I took him to the local emergency vet in the middle of the night. That vet took one look at him and said "congestive heart failure -- he is full of fluid". He died that night. I hate the vet at Desert Dunes for being so obtuse as to assume that my darling was just eating too much, and never tested him for anything else. He was not obese at all; he was full of fluid from congestive heart failure, which could have been treated!
