I received a coolection notice out of the blue, claiming i owed verizon $117. 09 for an address i lived in four years ago. The telephone number i supposedly had is an upstate ny telphone number and could not have possibly been connected in the area code i was in at the time. The woman claimed that the bil was from march 2003 through may 2003. While i lived at my old address (16 years) i did not have verizon as my home telphone company. She indicated they had sent numerous letters to my new address which is not true. I have a verizon home phone now but the numbner is not listed under my married name. I don't know how they got my old address, my name, or my current phone number. The whole thing reeks of a scam and from what i can tell others have dealt with these creeps. They are no longer using the westbury, ny address they have been using in the past. This woman told me this debt has been reported to "a credit age4ncy" but didn't seem to know which one. Any time i asked a question she told me i would have to wait 8 - 10 weeks for verizon to send me their documents so i could see all the information about this supposed debt. When i got my veriozn home phone number in august 08, nothing about a past due balance or being reported to a collection agency never was mentioned. I think this agency is fraudulent and the fact that they are now using a different address is telling. Further when i lived at my previous address (Which they have) i was in an 845 area code. The number connected to this debt is 518 (Albany area) . When i questioned the area code she said that verizon wouldn't be able to give me any information because the number had been "recycled. " this woman must think i am a complete idiot. In any case i am going to request my credit reports to see if it has been reported as she told it was. I am also going to send them a registered letter that they have to sign for and make them validate the debt. I wouold be interested in hearing from anyone who has had problems with this company.

Thanks

S.

These ###s do this on the regular to people and they have the most outdated ways of looking up information for addresses. I swear I believe they use Phone books that are 2 decades old to look up info for that address, then send the bills to whomever was there, not making a difference that you could've lived there 10 yrs ago or more. ###S!...We need civilian review boards to monitor firms like this!

I paid the settlement amount that was offered a couple of months late than the letter that was sent and when I spoke to the representative on the telephone to inquire if my account has been cleared of any further charges/fees, I was told that there were remaining monies on my account that need to be paid. No letters from collections agencies. They just keep billing us for unnecessary charges.

I RECEIVED A STATEMENT FROM DEBT RECOVERY SOLUTIONS SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND WAS UNABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THEM. I HAVE RECENETLY BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT THEM TO PAY THE SETTLEMENT AMOUNT AND GET THIS OFF MY CREDIT BUT EVERY TIME I CALL IT SAYS THERE OFFICES ARE CLOSED. I TRIED THE WEBSITE DBTSOLUTIONS.COM AND THE ONLY OPTIONS ARE TO MAKE A PAYMENT OR SUBMIT BANKRUPTCY INFORMATION. I WANT TO VIEW MY ACCOUNT AND MAKE SURE THAT WHAT I PAY IS GOING TO CLOSE THIS OUT. I JUST WISH THEY WOULD EITHER ANSWER THE PHONE OR ALLOW PEOPLE TO ACCESS THEIR ACCOUNT INFO ONLINE

I'm a bit confused as to what to do. I got a phone call from a different agency talking about an overdue phone bill that I had from an apartment over 8 years ago. I called Verizon's Billing and Financial department to check up on this, especially since I have a DSL line with them now (and had one from Verizon at the apartment I lived in in between the overdue one and my current place) they gave me *this* number as the people who had the account in debt collection, and it is on my credit report. So it does look like I had a bill that went to collections (never mind the fact that I never got an overdue bill or collection attempt from Verizon). Is it possible that this company sold off my account to someone else?

And it amazes me that since it seems legit, I never had a problem getting new phone lines set up for my moves with an outstanding bill hiding in the system.

They try to send mail requesting payment on debit which is totally false - by researching their address i find this company is a totally fraud.. This is the second time i received this garbage, why are they allowed to try to recover money from people who do not owe debit... This is a tragedy close this company down

I see I have a letter from these people in Informed Delivery. Glad I searched the addy. For anyone wanting to be sure of past phone numbers and whatnot, you can check all that (and remove it if you want because anyone can see it) at www.truepeoplesearch.com
