Hibu,Inc. Fraudulent

Our company made a nationwide buy from YellowBook. YellowBook states they distribute 100 million books a year. We bought 6+ Ads. Therefore, we should have had 600 million ads nationwide per year, yet, we ONLY received 18k leads, which is ONLY 18k phone calls per year! What is wrong with this picture?! Can someone tell me what the problem is here? Who distributes the book and how many books “actually” get delivered to a door within a year?

Hibu,Inc. wrong advertising

We own a small computer company in Texas.
I am a graphic artist.
A yellowbook rep. came out and sold us an ad (February 2011). He made a quick sketch on his laptop . . . it was supposed to just be a sketch.
I told him I'd re-design it and so I did. I sent him the artwork and he confirmed and supposedly gave it to yellowbook's art department.
A couple months later the book came out. I couldn't believe it, they put in his sketch instead of my design.
We were so pissed.
After a lot of complaining and back and forth, we stopped paying. Then we had 1 year of collection company calls, Clovis & Roche.
Very rude and stupid people. The last we heard was in January 2012 that we would be sued.
And then today a weird call from yellowbook, that woman had such a bad accent I do not know what she said. The caller ID said unavailable, so I called the number back and sure enough it was yellowbook.

So, now, after reading all the yellowbook complaints, I wondering what's going to happen.
We also went to a lawyer and she said we may have a case . . . but we no longer have the money for a lawyer, thanks to yellowbook our business has gone down the drain, since the book came out we got 1 stinking call.

Hibu,Inc. faulty advertising, Scam

Yellow book is a criminal enterprise, if they are successfull at having you sign a contract with them, they will hold you personally responsible no matter what corporate filing you have, first they will bankrupt your company with advertising that does not work and will not work no matter how big the ad is, and they will try to tell you the bigger the ad the more calls, not true if you use this advertiser you will go bankrupt because there advertising does not work internet or print, just look at how many times they have been sued or in court, there are over 500 court cases in cook county illinois alone(its free just punch in there name in court cases) where they have retained crooked lawyers and judges simpathetic to yellowbook and against small bussiness, they will then go after who ever signed there contract and your personal assets and house and put you in the street. they will make no concessions for there faulty advertising and pull every backstabbing trick in the book to take your money. including saying you are in the only book and then releasing another book in the same area to make more money. i know they bankrupted my company and now there trying to put me and my family in the street. I emplore you to reconsider and spare yourself heartache and dispair do not advertise with yellowbook youll only loose all your money and your bussiness!

Hibu,Inc. Sales

Yellowbook charged us for an ad that a 70 year old family member agreed for us to pay. They called the persons house and the family member stated they had authorization even though they did not and have never been paid any form of a salary. We never received a PO, proof sheet, or an invoice, just a note from the collection company. From my web search, I discovered we weren't the only ones that have had this experience.

I strongly feel this was a fishing expedition from the sales department. No written contracts, only a recording of an unauthorized person agreeing to spend someone else's money. If we would to have placed the ad, we would have used the company name and not a personal name. The information would have had up today information rather than outdated.

So basically, anyone can say they are authorized to make a decision and you have to pay according to this company. Scary thought isn't it?

Hibu,Inc. Yellowbook fraud

We have recieved an invoice from localonline yellow book for 549.95 that we didnt authorize.
We talked to them on the the phone. Its a scam i have read many other emails of the same problem. Something has to be done with these people.

yes yellowbook is taken me to court, for something i did not sign for.I tried to tell my lawyer he said do you have the money to fight
them. it will take a lot. they say that i ow them $12000.00 I did sign one time and paid for it in full. the next I tall ed the sales men that I
don't want to sign he made me sign on the page, the proof of the picture. I tall ed him that I did not want to sign he said its OK that
its not the contract. its just page proof. months later I found my name in the book. I called the sales men and tall ed him way did you do that he said you signed. I swear I did not they forged my signature. and I cant do any thing.

Yes we had the same problem. It's interesting how it seems to correlate with advertising that you have created with other yellow pages advertisers. hmmm... Same address here in Calfornia...

This piece of crap company created an alleged "website" that a six year old 1st grader could have made using any of the free website templates that are out there. Then when we told them how bad we thought it was, they offered a discount, which never materialized. We then tried to talk to customer service and got nothing but a run around. If you have these idiots in your state please do not use them, as they are terrible.

Hibu,Inc. Unauthorized and incorrect listings

The Yellowbook contains inaccurate and incomplete information. Yellowbook customer service is non-existent. The majority of the info (except for paid classifieds) in Yellowbook is obtained from public record data bases that our outdated and inaccurate.
As the CEO of a very large organizattion having our physicians home numbers and addresses listed in the Yellowbook has caused numerous problems that could result in liability for our organization. In addition, the book list physicians that have not been with our organization for years.
We did a line by line check of the PHYsicians/DO Section of the latest publication and the majority of the information listed is inaccurate, incorrect or outdated.
I have spoken with many of my collegues and we will never use this book personnally or professionally.

You are not the only hospital having this problem, actually... Our hospital is listed completely wrong in Yellowbook online and the hard copy. Instead of the listing saying "Department of Endocrinology, Phone Number XXX-XXX-XXXX", it just says, "Hospital Name, Phone Number XXX-XXX-XXXX" and doesn't specify department... so patients call the first number they see (which is my department, we're listed first for whatever reason..) assuming that it's the main switchboard and get pissed when they have to be transferred all around. It's definitely annoying, but it's nearly impossible to have corrected.

Hibu,Inc. Contract-Fraud

I just received a letter from Rauch-Milliken Internation, Inc. demanding I settle a debt or they are going to sue me. Unfortunately this is not my debt. Over 2 years ago I worked for a company which used Yellowbook for advertising, and because I signed off an an ad they are holding me personally liable for the debt that the company has bankrupted out of. This is the craziest thing I have ever heard and I am baffled that our legal system even allows this. I was under the impression that when you work for a corporation you are protected from personal liablity. The woman at the agency stated that even if I was a dishwasher and signed the paper I would be liable. I never knew I was signing a contract or anything of the sort. This type of practice should be illegal. I was tricked into signing something that has ultimately screwed me over. I have been unemployed for almost 2 years, and I have struggled to keep my credit in good standing and pay my bills but I am afraid this is going to put me in a position that I will have to ruin my credit. It is unfair and absolutely not right.

Hibu,Inc. Tried to cancel

I was convinced to advertise in the Yellowbook - I tried to cancel because everyone I spoke to told me that I was over paying but the sales rep Stuart Rock convinced me that "he was giving me a great deal and I had upset him because I was saying he charged me to much" so I felt bad and said ok. Then I called and told them I was going out of business I was an LLC - they said too bad talk to my sales rep - I tried he would not respond - (so much for his integrity - haha) any way 2 years later they are coming after me and my family - talking to my husband and telling him we have to pay - pretty much using scare tactics - I spoke to a lawyer they said that the wording they have in the contract means I probably will have to pay - PLEASE DON'T ADVERTISE in the YELLOWBOOK - they are a bad company!

Hibu,Inc. littering

I find it irresponsible that yellowbook hires drivers to deliver phone books to homes. But what is happening the drivers are delivering books to vacant addresses, delivering to smashed mail boxes, to no homes at all. They throw the books in the path of the mail carrier. They run over the book, gets wet. and destroyed. They advertise how green they are, yet there are hundreds of books with plastic wrap on them just lying on and in yards just polluting and littering our streets. Who's going to pick up all of those books? (NO ONE). This has been going on for a few years now. It needs to stop! Go back to letting the post office delivering the books. They know who's there and who is'nt.

Hibu,Inc. Cancellation

I signed up with Yellowbook to do some advertising for my small business. I wrote a check to the salesman and a few days later, I found my bank account in the negative. After further investigation, I found that Yellowbook electronically deposited my check, THEN cruised over to the bank and deposited the same check again! This caused me a ton of grief. Overdraft fee's galore. I contacted my salesman right away, and told him I wanted to cancel my advertising. He told me I couldn't cancel because it was a contract. (Even thought they breeched the contract by stealing money from me.) My salesman refused to return the overcharged monies back to my bank, OR pay the overdraft fee's. Instead they wanted to offer me credits in future advertising. Ummm, no? My salesman said he could cancel the internet portion of my contract, but not the book print because it was already being printed? Remember, this is only a few days after I signed up with Yellowbook. I tried to call my salesman the next day, and for over 20 days straight to insist on canceling. No answer. Left voicmails. No returned phone calls. I finally E-mailed a letter of cancellation to Yellowbook since I could not get ahold of my salesperson. I began getting bills from Yellowbook, not only for the printed section, but also for the internet advertising that my salesman said he cancled... I have all the paperwork my salesman gave me when he cancled the internet ad. I have copies of the cancellation E-mail, I also have telephone records showing the insane amount of phone calls I placed to my salesmans phone number. Yellowbook has sent my account to collections, and as of today, to an attorney. Wrongfully debited twice in the beginning, then charged every month for a full year for an ad that I canceled, and they are bringing me to court? Thanks to Yellowbook for supporting local small businesses!

I had an over pushy sales lady tell me that I could sign a contract and she would hold it till I got ready to make a deposit. I signed the contract so that I could get out of there, based on the fact that I never intended to pay the deposit to execute the contract. I told her I wasnt interested via text message and to cancel. Remember she told me that I could not be in contract with out a down payment of $39. Since she wanted her commission she disregaurded my text and paid my Dp for me and put the ad thru. In the wrong city no less. I am now being sued by yellowbook. I am going to file a lawsuit tomorrow for false reprenstation.

Hibu,Inc. Deceptive Sales

I am the former owner of Julian’s Home and Office Cleaning and Maintenance of Manawa, WI. In January 2009 I was contacted by the Yellowbook sales rep, Tim Calnin, regarding advertising in the 2009 directory. At the time I was awaiting the outcome of a pending real estate/business purchase in Maine which would result in my relocation and the closure or sale of Julian’s Home and Office. Hence, I told Tim over the phone that I was unable to make a decision regarding advertising at that time. He suggested that he could come out anyway in order to discuss advertising options in the event the Maine purchase did not transpire. At our meeting Tim assured me that I could call customer service and cancel anytime before April 1st as the directory would not be printed until May. With that assurance, I signed the contract for the advertising on January 8, 2009.

As it happened, in March the purchase of the Maine property was finalized. I contacted Yellowbook customer service as Tim suggested, but was informed that it was now too late to cancel the advertising. I then contacted Tim, and after speaking with his supervisor, he told me to write a formal letter to Yellowbook stating that I would no longer own Julian’s Home and Office. I sent the letter March 20th which Yellowbook received on March 23rd. On March 31, 2009 I sold Julian’s Home and Office and relocated to Caribou, Maine on April 13, 2009.

I thought the matter was settled until I received an invoice in June for the advertising . Again I contacted Tim who promised to look into the matter. For the past month I have been calling him for updates weekly as he continued to discuss the matter with his superiors. Finally, today he said there was nothing more that he could do for me. He told me that his manager said I should call customer service and open a claim. When I called I was told that I could not open a claim because the advertising was already in print.

Because of the uncertainty of my plans at the time, I would never have signed for the advertising if I had thought I would only have a week to cancel. It was only because of Tim’s assurance as Yellowbook’s company representative that I would have until April to cancel the advertising that I signed for it. However, Yellowbook has not been willing to do stand behind what Tim--their sales representative-- told me. Having exhausted all means to resolve this matter with YellowBook, I am now appealing to both the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General for assistance in this matter.
