Star Motel at lakeside / Poor services and Fraudulent practices
The below mail was addressed to the Manager of Stat Motel by me this morning. I followed up with a visit to the hotel this evening and the hotel management refused to refund my USD 203. The environment was so charged that i have no option but to leave. I am demanding the hotel management to refund my money. My decision not to stay is based on poor qualtiy service especially in the sanitary condition of the hotel. I need your assistance to get the hotel to refund my money. They have cited a clause of non refund of payment. This was not explained to me and my attention was not drawn to it at the pont of signing. I paid money to the Hotel Management on trust - from the African brother - who lured me into paying and i did not inspect the sanitary condition of the hotel. It was only after checking in that i realised how dirty the hotel is. They allowed pets but do not clean the rooms. This is serious health hazard. I have video recording of some uncleanness of the hotel I will provide when requested
You promised to come down to the motel to discuss the issues affecting my stay in Star Motel. I have been expecting you to come but regrettably you did not come.
I checked out of the room this morning though my personal effects is still in the custody of the front desk lady attendant. However, It is imperative to let you know the following being the premise under which I agreed to stay:
1. We agreed that you will temporary book me in room 129 just to secure reservation but I will be moved to second floor when I am ready to check in. When I came in yesterday to check in, I was told that no room is available upstairs. I was shown room 214 which is stuffy and unkempt. You agreed that it is not ideal for stay.
2. We agreed that you will provide me a queen size bed but what was available yesterday was 2 single beds.
3. You promised that you will provide me a room where there is safe. Unfortunately, there was no safe in the room 129. Your supervisor brought in a mobile safe but I figured out that whoever gain entry to the room can as well pick the safe along since it is small and moveable. For me it did not serve the intended purpose.
Following my discussion with you, I was very willing to make several accommodation because of the professional way you talked to me and again that I am dealing with my own African brother.
When I moved in yesterday night about 9pm), I was stunned to discover that the room 129 was not only unclean but the bed sheets including the pillow cases were dirty. The floor carpet had some powder like substances on the floor, the bath and sanitary wares were very dirty with soap water splash on the taps. I called your attendant repeatedly but there was no response. About 11pm I moved out my things and demanded that I should get my money back. They persuaded me to move to room 125. I inspected the room and found that the bed sheets and especially the pillow cases had hairs on them. They explained that the hairs are from the lady that came to change the sheets. They went brought pillow cases(4) and changed for me.
As soon as I moved out of the room the room attendant started cleaning the room 129 and changing the pillow cases
This discovery convinced me that the bed sheets are un cleaned. I decided that I will not lie on the bed. I was on the chair thought the night. This is my worst experience in hotel accommodation.
I think, you should address this complaint carefully for the sake of future customers.
Nevertheless, from the note given to me at the point of checking out this morning, you will refund USD203.40 to me.
I understand that you will be around this evening and I will come over to pick the cash.
