Hello, my name is Edmund Loren Woods and I go by Loren. Back in June of last year I broke my right hand. I went to St Vincent's emergency room as I don't have health insurance. They did what I thought was a good job repairing the hand; they even cut it open and cleaned it fearing infection.

I followed up with the Indiana Hand and Shoulder clinic and upon review and consultation with the surgeon there, I was told that the scar tissue was tangled with the tendon and would heal unless I messaged it vigorously. I messaged it as vigorously as I could and made my appointment a month later.

At that meeting, looking at the x-rays, I determined that the surgeon at St Vincent’s didn’t repair it correctly in the first place and yes, the scar tissue was still tangled up with the tendon rendering it useless for working purposes.

When I asked the Doctor about it he seemed to get agitated and told me if he went back in to fix it properly there would be a 90% chance that it would come out worse than it was. Exasperated, I asked if he could at least cut it open and free the scar tissue from the tendon so I could get some kind of mobility and use of the hand. He hesitantly said that he would do that and that he would have “the girl” call me to schedule, which she did a couple of days later. She told me that the surgery would be $3, 000 and they would have to have $1, 500 up front before they would do it.

I feel as though I’ve been swindled to an extent. I haven’t been able to have consistent work since this happened because my hand is virtually unusable for the type(s) of work that I do. I am a painter, carpenter, drywaller and musician, all of which require heavy use of that hand. Therefore, I can not afford to get this done even though it’s imperative that I do it and I feel as thought the more time that passes, the more the tissue will grow into the tendon and will eventually become hopeless and I’ll have a deformed and lame right hand for the rest of my life.

Any and all advice you could give me would be much appreciated

Sincerely,

Edmund Loren Woods

on [protected] my wife went to saint vincents north in sherwood arkansas for mental healt issues she was asked for a urin sample which they lost and then told her that they were going to have to put a cath in her to get another sample when she refused they told her that they were not going to help her and she could leave there ER she was also told that if she got up from the chair that they told her to sit in that they would call the police and have her arrested is this the way that a person seeking help for mental health issues is treated in your hospital every time I called to check on her I was told yes she is here and she is sleeping but they told her that she was rude to the nurses and staff on the same note is this the first time that your staff has delt with a person with mental health issues threating and dismissing a paient is not the practice that I ever heard of and to say that person is just there seeking drugs is uncalled for when she was asking to stay in your hospital to get treatment she did not go in asking for pills to take home or a script to get filled she was asking to be admitted for treatment do you rate your paients on there ability to pay or what insurance they have just because she has state insurance dose that meen she dose not deserve the treatment she is asking for I thought you to a oth to do no harm on what pay scale dose that account for not if you are on state care your staff is rude and uncareing also they decided to take a blood sample from her wrist not from her arm doing so they struck the bone and told her that there was no reason for her to yell that it hurt when she ask what if she came back as a atempted susicide she was told that she would probly die

Firstly let me say im sorry to here of your horrendous experience. Lately doctors are seemingly under the delusional mindset that their better then their patients (god complex).
I suggest you immediately get an attorney! Like Right Now! your career is permanetely affected indefinetely, your mental anguish in not doing the thing you love (painting, carpentry, music) is ruined for life. you deserve significant compensation and this doctor should be reported and barred

I suggest contacting your local State Medical Board and formerly reporting him. they are generally amazing in helping the patients..its their job.

also, i would contact the Joint Commission; this organization is the epitome of everything doctor related and medical malpractice. they will help you tremendously, ive used them myself.

i hope this helps and i hope you find a therapy or procedure that restores your hand.
all the best!
