Royal Palm Travel / False Advertising

1 Three Galleria TowerDallas, TX, United States Review updated:

I was called several times about attending a presentation and promised a $300.00 gas card and 3 days/2 night free vacation with air for just attending. Once the presentation was over I was given some paperwork to claim my gifts. After reading the details I found that it is nearly impossible to obtain your gifts. The gas card can only be obtained by purchasing $100.00 in gas per month at the same brand station, sending in receipts and they send you back a $25.00 gift card for gas. The minimum about you can receive is $25.00 per month. The vacation voucher was much worst. This is a complete waste of time.

It gets even worse than that when you sign up with their membership! I made that mistake and am now fighting to get my money back. Even cancelling the contract the next day, they have a history of only giving partial refunds saying that because we signed their contract that has a clause about a non-refundable 15% "restocking fee" and $399 "processing fee" that they are entitled to it. This will come to about $1300 for basically nothing! I say history because I have positive evidence that they are the same individuals that have been running this scheme for a while under different company names in different states. I have positively confirmed that Adrian Miller is always the primary manager whenever a new company is set up here in Texas to play their game. His companies include Royal Palms Travel, Phoenix Vacations, Viva Vacations, Beachcomber Vacations, and Babb & Miller. Royal Palms was establish July 1, 2008 and Phoenix was established May 28, 2008. From my research these two entities are currently actively running this charade. They have also recently created the company that handles the "memberships" called SeaLand Travel but this basically a new name for Castaways Vacation Club. Apparently they start getting a lot of heat for their sales tactics and poor business practices so they reinvent themselves under a different name and different least office space so if you look them up you don't find any history of what they have been up to. I could go on but basically it is clear that these people just want to get as much money from you up front and if you find out about them they do not refund any membership fee unless you figure it out within 3 days and even then they keep about 20% of the money they took from you. Also note that I found plenty of complaints from people that tried to use the membership to take advantage of the promised deep discounts that their travel dates were either unavailable or if available no cheaper than if they booked through Travelocity or such. If someone starts a class action lawsuit, please post it and I am there!

hey there!!! i was also being called up by this people offering free vacation, i used to refuse from their offer a lot of times, and to end all the calls, i agree on the condition of the free vacation, which is to attend a presentation in their office. Me and my husband was surprised when we found out that all they were saying on the phone are all correct, yes, they will definitely sell something on you, but as what they had promised, they won't oblige you to buy anything. Me, myself is a living proof to that, we never bought anything, yet, we recieved the free vacation that they promised. Not everyone can be pleased by these people, but just give it a shot and you'll definitely see it for your self!! Now, me and my hubby are all set for our vacation and take note, we save a lot of money because of their program.

I agree with you Natalie, I just recently attended their presentation and it was good!!! I actually bought their program because me and my husband are planning to have a vacation in Thailand later part of the year. Instead of spending thousands of dollars for our family's vacation, it cuts off almost half of our budget so we can have an extra money for us to buy souviners when we get there!!!I'm so excited on our vacation, thanks to their program!!!

For anyone that thinks it might be worth their while to go for the free gifts, they are worthless. The free gas is from freebeegas.com and the free travel is from Worldwide Travel Center. Research these for yourself and see all the complaints on them. Also note that they are not free. They require you to send money up front with the promise of getting it back in the end but they make you jump through so many hoops that 99% of people can't fulfill them all and they end up keeping your deposits.

Beware these charlatans and their false testimonials! I especailly like the one where they say they are saving a lot of money with their program but they didn't buy into it! Hmmm...

Royal Palm would like to congratulate and thank you for being one of the selected few to participate in this promotion. We find this is the most effective way to get our name to people who would like to hear about us. Royal Palm is grateful that you accepted this invitation. As one of the lucky few, you will receive some great complimentary gifts for your time. To clear the air and answer some frequently asked questions:
This is not a timeshare or land sales offer.
This is not a High pressure, one on one presentation.
THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO PURCHASE ANYTHING TO RECEIVE A GIFT!
All we ask is for your time and your attention, to show you what some people are calling the “innovation of the travel industry.” This is a group presentation so everyone sees the same thing at the same time. Our goal is that the next time you take a vacation you would want to book it through us. We find that by giving you a complimentary gift in exchange for your time, this is much more effective then standard advertisement (TV, radio, etc.). Just for attending, you are entitled to receive one of the following gifts:

Las Vegas, Nevada, or Cancun, Mexico, or Orlando, Florida

Travel to most major cities in the US, Canada or Mexico. It’s like travelling anywhere you have ever dreamed or wanted to go visit.

Plus a $300 gas coupons or a 5pcs of $20 dining certificates to selected steak houses or a $1000 internet shopping certificate where you will only pay for the shipping and handling fee of the items you have selected just for coming here 10-15mins earlier.
Obviously we cannot offer the gifts to everyone. Please confirm with the marketing company that invited you all of the terms, conditions, and qualifications. Royal Palm advises everyone to be fully informed about the guidelines, and would like you to make sure that you understand all the terms and conditions of the gift and the meeting. I hateto say it but I bought in to it and now I am out over $900.00. They are scam artist. They promis you trips like $650.00 round trip including air and hotel to London and say they can book it that night for the price. I used to work for an Airline so I wanted the benfits of travel for cheap prices and thought it would be great. After we got the price down from 8000.00 to 4000.00 including processing and annual dues we bought it. They do give you 3 days to get your money back however they charge you a 15% restocking fee and 399.00 for processing. What are they restocking? On the way home I came to my sences and thought this is to good to be true. I found a trip on travelocity and had them quote me the same trip the next day. What I found was cheaper than what they could book it for. They do not save you any money. They also promis you a password to get on a website to see prices and book travel for less, however you don't get this for seven days. This would ensure that your three days to get your money (part of your money) back has passed. They are scam artist in my eyes. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I have also found on other sites that there are other like us and are looking to file a class action lawsuite. I would like to get in on that if there is one going on. They are giving false information and you are not getting what you are promised

Lucky me! They were in a way responsible for saving me a trip down town, wasting a sat morning and all that by their mentioning that they like only people who are between 25 and 72 years old!!!. Their sales talk was great over a un id or a phone # 000 000 0000 as read of my phone. The they have a canvasser/a reservation supervisor and the comes resertvation manager and all that . So mlooks like they have identified young ppl as gullible and easily tempted. So I see how false advertising works. I have a confirmation number etc . Could be that they have a couple ppl they send out to OR MAY BE ONE OF THEIR STAFF COMES ON And claims in this blog that he got his great trip and thanks the com. ?

Only after i got mugged I just out of curiosity checked the trave on the internet when i came across the complaint. All these travel deals .ugh...

On the night my wife and I were at the Royal Palm Travel presentation, there was a guy in the back corner who recorded Bill Cate giving his presentation on the evening of August 5. Sir if you happen to be reading this, please email me a copy of that video recording. It would be very useful proof of their oral misrepresentations. Thanks!

I was called over and over by this company asking them to please put me on the "Do Not Call" list. The lady tonight told me they would send here back to the Phillipines if I didn't help her out. She said she is willing to break the law to not have to go back and that she and all her representatives would continuously call me regardless of what I asked. She said that they don't care about "Do Not Call" lists. She also said that if I reported them their company was so big there wouldn't be enough individuals to fight them legally because of how much money they make.

hi there!!!i would just like to comment in to this person named Mike, are you reading this things with comprehension? or maybe you are just merely reading this without any thoughts on your mind? Me and my hubby saved money because of their program, simply because we got a free vacation and yet, all we need to pay is the government-imposed taxes, now, instead of spending hundreds and thousands of dollars for our vacation, it was totally down into hundred dollars or so...and yes mike, we never bought their program!!!but we got the free vacation!!!it's not really free because we paid for the taxes!!!pls try to comprehend!!!thanx!!

Beware of freebeegas.com! I didn't think their rules were too hard to follow, so I registered and followed their rules to a tee. It's been four months now and they have not sent any coupons at all... Big waste of time and appears to be a scam! Plus I'm out their $5 handling fee.

Okay Natalie, congratulations on your cheap vacation! Wait a while to post until after you actually take your vacation. The travel voucher is a scam too. If you get anything at all, don't be surprised if you get sent to attend a timeshare presentation! All the best to you!

I totally agreed with Mike. Natalie got a vacation to hell town. Travel voucher is a big scam. 99% of the time you won't be able to use it because of the limitation on the date and time.

You may have read this posting elsewhere on the site but I wanted to make sure for anyone checking out Royal Palm Travel, Phoenix Vacations, or Sea Land Travel that they do not miss this. I wish we had read these postings before we went to their presentation -we got carried away and signed up for a membership. Now, we are in the process of trying to get a full refund and have put the charge into dispute on our credit card.

If anyone has any information about the legal names of the principals of this operation and/or contact information for them I would appreciate it if you could share it with me. We may find we have to file a claim in court and need that info in order to do that.

For anyone checking out this company, here is the information I have gleaned from several hours of Internet searching plus personal experience:
    - A password is required to access the company’s travel website, which is supposed to show specifics of the travel savings available. However, the password is not provided to buyers until after the legally required 3 day cancellation period has expired
    - The sales arm of the operation appears to have changed names and locations at least twice in the last three months in the Dallas area according to past buyers who say Royal Palm was previously operating as Phoenix Travel in a different Galleria Tower location
    - Numerous complaints have been lodged on the Internet by previous buyers against both Royal Palm and Phoenix and some are pursuing filings with the State of Texas Attorney General’s office and the Better Business Bureau. Several are looking to join a class action law suit against one of the two enterprises.
    - According to a quick Internet search, this firm or its affiliates appear to have operated under many names and in many locations over the past few years, including: Royal Palms Travel, Bon Voyage, Sea Land, Phoenix, Beachcombers, Via Vacations and Castaways. There does not seem to be any public record that Sealandtravelclub.com has actually existed as that entity for the number of years claimed in the sales presentation.
    - While a 3 day “cooling off period” is required by law, Royal Palm Travel tries to assess cancellation penalties that can run higher than $1000 based on a $399 “processing fee” and 15% of the purchase price as a “restocking fee”

Lastly, if you really want to go ahead and buy, be aware they are completely negotiable - so don't pay even close to their asking price. I have seen postings where people have purchased for one tenth of the $8995 starting price!

THIS IS A FAKE COMPANY " Natalie Graham" or whoever she is is an inside employee for the company along with any other people posting positive feedback about this ROYAL PALMS TRAVEL. THEY ARE FAKE AND SCAMMERS !!! FOX4 News is investigating them along with the Attorney General who is building a case against them. The Better Business Bureau as been informed several hundred times about them and are too investigating them as well. ITS ALL FAKE AND DONT GIVE IN... like that saying says... "IF ITS TOOOOOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" then you know its not !!! SO unless you want to be a mad mother [censored]ER and out $500-900 or even more then go right ahead.. but I rather just look on TRAVELOCITY OR ORBITZ you prolly find better deals on there and THEY ARE LEGIT AND REAL !!!

This is sooo funny. First of all, the owner of Royal Palm Travel is a man named Adrian Miller. Adrian has been a con man his entire life, if you dont believe me just do a background check on him and you shall see. Adrian has spent the last 8 years or so scamming people into buying travel club packages for various different companies such as, Sun country travel, Horizon travel, beachcombers vacations, Castaways vacation club and many more. Do some research on these companies and you shall see that all he has done is created a new corporation to sell the same old crap. All of these companies have had troubles not only with customer complaints but also with various Attorney Generals in Several States. Why would anybody believe that the new product he is selling is any different? He has found a legal way to scam people out of lots of money. TRAVEL CLUBS DO NOT WORK!!! They are all the same. You really can get much better deals on the internet with companies like expedia and orbitz. By the way, ANY AND ALL POSSITIVE REMARKS ON THIS PAGE ABOUT ROYAL PALM TRAVEL ARE THE WORK OF ADRIAN OR ONE OF HIS HENCHMEN. Oh By the way, The man with the Mullet who said his name was Ron, is really named Bill Cate and He is just as big a con artist as adrian if not bigger. Bill however is a traveling gypsy and is on the run from the irs, so his days are limited. If you want to try to get your money back from Adrian, he lives in Grapevine. The best way to get your money back from any travel club scam is to call your credit card company and tell them you did not recieve the product you were promised. Sorry to all that have been scammed by this rat ###.
