I had an accident in July of 2007 and could not drive my van back home to Maine for it was not drivable. I did some research online for a reputable auto body shop and found Restivo. All I had to go by was what I read and it sounded great. I spoke with them many times and decided to have them tow my van from the yard to have them repair it.

The insurance adjuster had already been to see it and estimated that it would be repairable and sent me a check for approx. $8, 900. Restivo said that they could fix it for that amount and that it would be ready in 29 days. I sent the check to Restivo.

They had it for about two months before I decided to call and find out how they were doing. I had to call more than once to get and answer and the answer they gave was that it should be ready in another couple of weeks. September became October and so I called yet again for an update. Now, they said that they were waiting for a part. They would not tell me which part and so I waited another 3 weeks before calling them.

This time they said it was ready and that the owner would probably deliver it himself because he felt bad that it had taken so long. Christmas came and went and still no van. Just around January a called to find out what the holdup was and they then told me they were waiting for anothr $7, 000 from my insurance to cover the overrun.

When I spoke with my insurance agent he told me they had already sent them an extra $4, 000 and that an extra $7, 000 was totally outrageous. By this time the amount to fix the van is more than I actually paid for it.

After many calls from my insurance agent to Restivo and myself, my insurance is going to total my van and re-imburse me for it's worth, then reclaim it from Restivo. It is now May 14, 2008.

If you are even thinking of having them do work for you, think twice, you may never see your vehicle again. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever been through and I am still recovering from injuries incurred in the accident.

October 28, 2009 On October 7th my son and I purchased a used car. That same evening my son had the misfortune of striking a deer, a common occurence in this area where they are abundant. We took the car to Restivo on October 8th and the insurance adjuster was there the following day. The damage to the car was relatively minor requiring the replacement of the hood, the radiator and the fender. We were told last Monday that it would be ready on Wednesday then Wednesday we were told it would definately be ready by Thursday. On Thursday, it will definately be ready for pickup by 4:30 on Friday. Then on Friday, we'll call you by 11 am on Saturday with a status. Then on Monday, it will be ready on Tuesday and so on. Today, Wednesday a week later I was told that it would definately be ready this afternoon. When I followed up at 5:15, yes mam, we are still here getting the car put back together and we will deliver it to your home tonight. We'll call you when it's ready, well, guess what? It's almost 10:00 pm and they never called. I try to give my business to local companies but this was a grave mistake. Also, guess what, they won't take a credit card, they require payment by cash or check. I have half a mind to pay them with a rubber check! Don't trust your repairs with these jerks. They treat women with disrespect, they lie, they try to say all the right things but in the end, they just don't care. I'm off on Friday and if the car is not ready I plan to spend my entire day there making their lives miserable. Do your self a favor, don't entrust them with your repairs if you need your car anytime soon!

I have had an almost identical situation with Restivo Auto. I like to take work to local businesses. I had had a minor repair done 3 years ago by Restivo and it was fine. So when we needed repair on our CRV, we went to Restivo. What a mistake. Almost 6 months since our delayed repair work, we still are dealing with this company who said they would take care of car rental while our vehicle was being repaired, now to find out they never paid the rental company, who will be charging our credit card over $1000. They agreed the car had been in the shop longer than it should have (one month) so said they would pay for the additional rental our insurance did not cover. They had the car 3 months and when they said it was ready, I turned the key and every warning light on the dash lit up. This is a car with 24, 000 miles on it. If I let go of the wheel driving down the road, the vehicle would veer off the road. No body damage in the accident, two wheels on the passenger side were bent and the side airbag deployed.
Still, the owner has lied to our face about repair work, saying it was delayed on basis of the car being a "custom interior color" (how many "custom" colors does Honda use on their off-the-lot CRVs?). I will advise everyone I know to avoid this business.
