On July 2, 2015, I received an email from HomeStars ( that my review for Pest-o-Kill ( has been published. I was surprised because I haven't heard of HomeStars or Pest-o-Kill. Thinking this spam, I ignored the email. However on July 5, 2015, I opened the link. Reading the fake review published on HomeStars was a complete shock to my system. Not the least of which was the fact that Pest-o-Kill is located in Ontario and I have never lived in Ontario or used their services.

What is even more shocking is how HomeStars never bothered to verify the reviewers account who registered on their website and posted the review. Clearly, there are no checks and balances or account verification procedures on HomeStars.

July 5, 2015: I reset the password and requested HomeStars to immediately remove the fake review and investigate this matter. So far I haven't received any information from HomeStars as to who/how my email was used to signup for their website and, subsequently, used to post a review. Once again, I have never heard of HomeStars ( or Pest-o-Kill ( before this and I certainly never registered an account on their website or posted a review. In fact, I don't even live in Ontario which is where Pest-o-Kill operates.

Activity of the fake reviewer account that used my email to post the fake review:

A company like Pest-o-Kill ( which pays for fake reviews isn't trustworthy. Don't do business with them. I will certainly register a complaint against both companies, HomeStars ( and Pest-o-Kill (, with BBB soon.

Spoke with Mr. Yahya and the person who used his service and subsequently posted a review. He happens to have the same first name as mine, Fawad. Its a very common name. He verified that he made a mistake while making an account on HomeStars and mistyped his email "" to "", which is mine. He's a real person and I've had the opportunity to speak to him, as well as Mr. Yahya. I'm inclined to believe Mr. Yahya that this was indeed a mistake. I consider this an honest mistake rather than a malicious attempt to generate fake reviews. Best, Fawad.

This was a mistake made by one of our clients who shares the same name as the complainant. He accidentally left out one letter in his email which caused the registration at homestars to be sent to the complainant. An honest mistake and unfortunately the complainant did all that he could to bring harm to my company. It has been over over a full day and my listing is marred with a terrible banner saying the reviews are suspicious. I hope after reading my email the complainant clears up the issue with homestars.
