This company acts like they care about helping you resell your baby furniture on consignment at their store but beware because they will break your items, misplace parts, and blame you for it. They ruined a perfectly good piece of baby furniture that retails new for $2, 000.

One of their store employees told me to drop off the parts with instructions and they would have one another employee put the furniture together.

After I dropped off the dismantled piece of furniture, a company employee called me 2 weeks later and said that it was against the law for them to resell baby furniture with missing parts. What?

How could this be? I rechecked all the parts and pieces before dropping off the baby furniture with the store. The employ told me to come and pick up the furniture. I drove to the store to get the furniture and they showed me the two nuts that were missing after I questioned them for several minutes. There were supposed to be four nuts. I inspected the furniture and where one of the nuts was supposed to go; there was a big crack board right through the hole where a nut was supposed to go. The employee never said the furniture was cracked. They wanted me to believe that there was a missing part and that they did not bread the baby furniture by cracking the board.

I called and spoke with the owner about the matter. The owner denied that their employee lost the parts and denied that her employee broke the baby furniture. Granted, the furniture new retails for $2, 000 and I was going to accept $500 for it, but now due to the Newport Kid’s actions, the furniture was worth nothing.

I will never use this company again. The owner was very rude on the telephone to me and even said it was against store policy to accept furniture to put on consignment that was not put together. This goes completely against what we were told up front. I would have put the baby furniture together myself, if that was a requirement. If I new the store employee would have broken my $2, 000 piece of baby furniture I would never have done business with them up front. Shame on you Newport Kids!

Has the new store opened? I called the number and I got a busy signal. I, too, am concerned. I had a large store credit there and merchandise that was given to her to sell. I live in Calabasas and come down occasionally on weekends, so I can't check and see if they have opened at the other location. I have had good experiences with this company in the past, so I'm surprised to hear anything negative. Can someone fill me in on what's going on? Thanks.

I have been going to Newport Kids for years, and never had a bad experience. Every seller of baby items is suppose to tell the store when they want a check on items that were sold. Example, January you take 20 items in and 15 of them sold by April, you could tell the store you would like the money and by the 15th I believe they would send you a check or you could pick it up. If you did not request a check, your balance owed to you stayed on the books and you could buy items in the store against your credit. What I do not understand is how anyone that sold their items through Newport Kids, did not know this policy and did not go into the store to request their money and take back any unsold items, when you received the email notification that the store was selling? That is the first thing I would have done. I would also assume, any items left were infact sold to the new owner and will therefore be available to pick up or once sold, you get the money. The new location has been posted in an email

I doubt the new owner bought the store and did not assume possession of items within the store. What would the new owner then have to sell if she did not obtain “current” inventory? I am sorry a few of you have had issues, I had nothing but positive experiences!

I am in the same exact boat. Their website is down, their number just rings through, I believe in Karma...
she is waiting around the corner- sharpening her nails.

The owner of this store, Ashley, has sold the store to a new owner. The new owner did NOT assume any of Ashley's debt. So, this means that if you did not get your check or inventory before the end of March 2018, you are SOL. I am in the same position. Makes me SO mad because they had lots of my expensive baby equipment and daughter's designer clothing. If anyone wants to contact me, I have a lawyer willing to work on our behalf. She charges by the hour. May be worth it if >10 of us can get together. Let me know.

Hi! I would like to know how we can go about this I have over 300.00 owed to me very upsetting to me. I thought this was a honest and fair business WRONG! Before she closed her shop up she should of paid everybody back for what she rightfully owes them we need to take action and hold her accountable!

I didn't get a check for the expensive things I brought in, but I"m not sure it would be worth the cost of an attorney. This isn't fair; there's nothing the city of Newport can do?

I am in the same boat as well. Feel free to contact me, they sold my goods and stole my money, along with my remaining property.

They went out of business. Converted your consigned goods and sold them to another store as inventory for another store to open up and are bouncing checks all over town. It's time for Channel 5 or the District Attorney to go after Ashley Woolfson and her Mother Cynthia Rietmier. This is criminal conduct.

They have hundreds of dollars of my girls beautiful clothing and shoes. No call...no contact. All of it, just gone. This is so infuriating!

I agree. I have been a customer and consignor with newport kids and never once had any problem. The owner and her grandparents are delightful to work with. I have sent many of my mommy friends into Newport Kids and not ONCE has anyone of them had a problem. I will continue to do business with them until my kids have out grown the store. Thank you Newport Kids!

I have been a customer of Newport Kids for over 10 years. I have brought in everything from my Bellini & Custom Made Pali Cribs to strollers clothes and everything baby under the sun! I have never once in 10 years had any issue with Newport Kids. I started going to Newport Kids to sell my baby clothes and equipment and with the money I got from them we put into bank accounts for the kids. Ashley the Owner is amazing. My one son has autism so it's hard for me to come in for an appointment but Ashley always opens early or stays open late for me to come in. Recently my sister's daughter passed away and Newport Kids sent the most beautiful flower arrangment. With all the customers she has I couldn't belive that she took the time out to do that for me and my family. Every person I tell about Newport Kids has nothing but amazing things to say about them. Being a resident of Newport Coast and have the luxery of the most upscale baby items I trust Newport Kids with all of my children's high end items. Why would you want to try to reseal a crib with missing pieces to it! Shame on this couple for trying to resale something that was broken to begin with!
