On June 23, 2018 at 14:00hr., I went to the Navy Lodge, located at the local NAS Pensacola (FL), to claim my two room reservation for the upcoming weekend. Once there, I approached the front desk and asked the clerk, Nick, if I could check in. Unceremoniously he told me that checking in was at 3 P.M.; therefore I had to wait for another hour. Consequently, I sat across the front desk. While waiting, I could not help seeing other patrons checking in, despite it still not being 15:00 hr. Obviously, I was a little perplexed, but not being sure of the facts, I did not say anything and continued waiting for about 35 more minutes. Meanwhile, I also noticed that Nick was on the phone for about 20 minutes thus assuming that he was communicating with the housekeepers about our room's availability. But once he left, giving me a dirty look, I finally realized that I was the target of his inexplicable hostility toward me. Therefore, I approached the other employee and asked her if I could check in. She said:" I do not know why not". Briefly, I explained to her what occurred with Nick and wondered why he made me wait for no plausible reason. I asked her if I could inform the manager about this absurd and bizarre abuse of power from Nick towards me.
The day after, around 6:00 A.M., I went down to the lobby to reset the key for one of my rooms since it was malfunctioning, and Nick happened to be working at this time behind the desk. While getting the key reset, Nick continued with his inexplicable hostile and derisive demeanor towards me. I then asked him why the day before he denied me access to my room while allowing others to check in, despite it again not being 15:00 hrs. Upon asking this question, Nick proceeded to intensify his behavior towards me by making ridiculing faces, rolling his eyes, repeating the word 'whatever', never addressing me in a formal manner, rolling his finger around his temple signifying that I was crazy, and directly laughing in my face. In addition, I guess he was trying to impress two other female workers, one at the front desk, while the other, a maintenance person named Francisca, was standing nearby laughing alongside him. It appeared that she was tasked with monitoring the breakfast quarters, but rather than perform her job, she assisted in ridiculing me along with Nick. I would like to stress at this point that I have never met either of these individuals, never had any past encounter with them, so their immediate expressions of hostility upon initially meeting me are bewildering. Outraged by their behavior, I asked them if they were mocking me but, as a response, the two of them continued laughing in my face.

Therefore, I told him that I wanted his complete name. As a response, he gave it to me and also saying: "would you like me to spell it for you?" At that point, I requested the manager's number because I was astonished about the boldness with which both Nick and Francisca were behaving. It is still unnerving that two hotel personnel would treat at patron in such a manner. And then, while pointing his finger at me he said that he was going to take care of me! This felt oddly unsettling as I perceived this to be some sort of threat against me, which prompted my immediate departure from the scene to not escalate matters and protect myself.
After returning to my quarters, I informed my husband and son about what had just transpired. Though all astonished, to not create any scenes, we decided to disregard the matter. Moments later, we all returned to the lobby to enjoy an early morning breakfast. Upon entry, immediately my family as well became victims of Nick and Francisca's aggression. He starred down each of them in a menacing and threatening way, which prompted them, in an act of perceived defense, to ask him why he was looking at them in such a manner. Again, he continued to act like a jerk along with the other maintenance person, Francisca who, uninvited, took part of the conversation, pointing her finger towards me in a threatening way, even to the point of using string profanity when shouting in front of minors the phrase: "What the F*** is your problem" to both my husband and son. Realizing now that we were going to continue to be treated in such an aggressive and confrontational manner, for again reasons unknown, we asked to use the lobby telephone to contact base security, as well as the Lodge manager, and have them address this bizarre state of affairs. In a vociferous tone, Nick firmly denied our request. Instead Nick then called security, and in the process of describing our physical features, and in particular, my husband's, he belittled his status as a Purple Heart combat veteran.
Realizing that my cell phone was in my room and needing it to call base security given Nick's denial, I went back to my room to retrieve it. Once in my room, I tried to use the room phone directory, but the police number was not listed. I resorted to use the Internet to locate the base police number. There were two, I called, but no one answered. So I decided to personally go to the nearest police station. While outside, I saw three police officers walking towards me. Unceremoniously, they told me to go back to my room, provide military ID's, driver's licenses, and Social Security numbers. Then I finally explained what happened while Nick was standing outside the room, listening to my side of the story, making faces, again rolling his finger next to his temple and ridiculing me while I was delivering my statement. His immediate presence while my family and I were reciting the events of the morning seems counterintuitive to police work, where at least from my knowledge, parties involved in civil disputes should be separated, unable to hear one another's versions of events, all the while law enforcement should mediate the situation.

This unfortunately did not happen as the police permitted him to listen to our statements, while once again, continuing his unprofessional conduct towards us, which became all the more inexplicable given that he was now doing this in the presence of base security. We honestly felt disrespected and disregarded by even the police as we still cannot explain why they would allow this to happen in their very presence.
To exacerbate matters, we were now asked to vacate the quarters at the manager's request following an alleged phone call placed to her by Nick where he apparently communicate to her the events of the morning. Though we asked to speak to her too, we were denied this opportunity as well. As a result, Nick deactivated our keys to the rooms where we still had our belongings, we were then required to spend a portion of the morning outside while delivering our statements under oppressive heat (I would like it to be known that my husband, again a combat veteran for the United Sates who served his country in all capacities, contracted numerous physical ailments as a result and that unnecessary exposure to the heat led to him feeling fatigued). Additionally, my husband was also prohibited from retrieving his cane in his automobile in the nearby parking lot, and he is a disabled veteran who relies upon it for mobility purposes.
We were totally shocked about this abuse of power, total negation of our basic rights, and the irony that we were asked to leave like we were criminals from the very base where my husband just years ago served his country honorably. Since we were unceremoniously dismissed from the property without any plausible justification, I asked if I could go back to my room and pack, reminding the officer that I paid for the room until check out time, which was still three hours away, but he explained that after Nick supposedly informed his manager of the morning's events, she directed him to have us leave the premises immediately. We were not even allowed to pack neither in a calm manner, nor in private as we remained under police surveillance until finally exiting the room. I would like to underscore the point that not only are we military servants of this nation, and that we committed no transgression in the entirety of this situation whereby even leaving to diffuse matters, we were disrespected, ignored, exposed to hostile social and environmental conditions, and we believe this treatment should not go unaddressed. Even the police, by allowing Nick to attend to our delivery of the statement, all the while continuing his derisive treatment of me, we believe did not behave in a very professional and courteous manner towards us. By allowing Nick to behave this way, it feels to us that they were partial to one side in this dispute. Still as of the writing of this letter, I have yet to be contacted by the Lodge manager, who we feel should have responded to having one of her paying, military careerist customers be treated thusly.
Despite our premature departure, we were still required to pay the full price for the one day! For the record, all of the episodes described above were recorded by a surveillance camera. These clips, if unedited and viewed by impartial parties, will testify to our version of the affairs. I repeatedly asked the officers to view the recordings, yet according to them, after asking Nick to have access to them, he denied them this as well.

P.S. The name of the manager is Carla Gutierrez - Navy Lodge, Pensacola (Florida)

THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO TREAT VETERANS AND COMBAT VETERANS, SHAME ON YOU! There is no justice anymore, is all a cover up. This is an ignominy!

UPDATES:
We did not hear from anyone for over a week. Today, July 18, 2018 did not hear anything.
On July 2nd a manager from NEXCOM [[protected]] called. She told us that she read our complaint letter, but did not do anything about it. In addition, she told us that she cannot fire anyone and that she never inquiry, with the Navy Lodge in Pensacola, about the matter. The lady was extremely arrogant, unwilling to cooperate, unapologetic.
We would like to know about the hiring criteria, and why are these people allowed to serve military people, veterans, or people in general. They are a true disgrace!

Its a shame in my day there would have been a serviceman around to set Nick straight. Obama gutted honor out of the military it seems. I'm 2k miles away and still can hardly contain myself from driving straight there!
