I first heard of Sondergeld Siberians after my husband had come back injured from Afghanistan and we had lost our dog shortly after his return. He had looked through pictures and had fallen in love with the 'dirty faced' darkness of her dogs and the Agouti phenotype. I emailed Scarlette Sondergeld and asked her if there were any slots available in her upcoming Demon/Chylo breeding and she said there was. Chylo had been bred twice in a 48 hour period and had produced 13 under developed puppies during this first pregnancy. She did not do well with her labor and required a C-Section. We were shown pictures of a little male and told that he could be ours. We accepted him and called him Oni. Oni later passed away with the rest of the litter (except one) and was told that the puppies were just too weak and under-developed to survive. s**t happens, so again, we waited for another breeding session with a different pairing. The next partnership was with Demon/Pandora, which we ended up getting a gorgeous male from. We lived out of state so Okami was flown to us and we just had to pay for the kennel he was in. The documents we received with him reeked of cigarettes, showing that they smoked in the home with the puppies (she brings the puppies in with her once they reach a certain age) but the health contract and AKC forms were all there so I let it go. We had had him for a few weeks and kept her updated with pictures of him both through her personal Facebook page and her Sondergeld Siberians Facebook page (Husky Whisperers). She made many comments about how he was more handsome than expected and how she wished that they had kept him for breeding purposes. We had had issues with him gulping his food, so we bought him a slow feed bowl and posted a video of him not being happy about it. She accused us of being abusive and that 'he never ate like that with her and therefore MUST feel scared in our home' (I have screenshots of this and will upload of given the chance). We tried to explain that he was still a puppy and like all children, must learn to eat in moderation. She took it as a personal attack on her business and acted like her dogs could never be so 'imperfect'.
A month later, one of her dogs died from bloat (a condition in which the stomach twists from eating too fast) but was offended when anyone mentioned her dogs eating too fast and replied that her dogs didn't gulp their food, they simply just had too much in their bowls at the time. Although this was all very frustrating, it is not the basis of this report. A year and a half later, I woke up one morning to let Okami go potty outside. Before letting him outside, I looked at his face and his eye was bright red and swollen. I immediately called the vet and was told to bring him in immediately because eye issues are rapid and serious. We took him in and was told that he had uviitis and that it was also starting in the other eye. We were given antibiotics and referred to a veterenary ophthalmologist. After seeing two veterinary ophthalmologists, we were told that our year and a half baby had developed a very aggressive form of cataracts and was running in to things merely a week after his diagnosis. I immediately contacted Scarlette, who proceeded to tell me that cataracts do not run in her lines and that she would need to see the vet documentation as proof. I offered to send the documents to her and her vet and she told me that her vet would be confused by it and to just send it to her. The next day, she contacted me saying that she and her husband had spoken and would refund what we paid for him and help us with his upcoming $4000 phacoemulsificarion surgery. All I had to do was send her documentation from a vet showing his diagnosis, which I did. She acknowledged receipt of those documents and that she and her husband Barry had decided to rehome Demon and Pandora so that no other puppy can be bred from that line. She told people on her Husky Whisperers Facebook page that Demon was rehomed due to him being too fluffy and that it was an undesirable trait. I just recently found out that the Dam (Pandora) was kept and continued to be bred.
Months and months passed with no refund and no contact with Scarlette. I sent her a message on Fb and received one back saying her mother had just died in her arms and that she wasn't doing okay at that time. I wished her well and waited a few more months. A year passed with nothing. All messages went unanswered from her, even though I could see that she had seen them, and she had removed us from her face book friends list as well as her Siberian group (Husky Whisperers) Two years later and still nothing. I went in to my Facebook messages and noticed that she has blocked me in an attempt to remove all messages between us, so thank goodness I have taken screenshots of the important ones. I have also recently been contacted by another owner whose 14 month old dog has inherited the cataracts defect (from another pairing) and who has also been ignored and removed by Scarlette Sondergeld in an attempt to prevent others from learning about the genetic defect within her AKC registered dog lines. Okami requires eye drops twice a day and will need them for the rest of his life. The bottle costs about $50/month and the opthamology appointments that he requires once a month runs about $150. We have not seen a dime. We love Okami and would/will pay this regardless, but I wanted everyone to know what they would be getting in to with this breeder. As long as your puppy is healthy, you will see nothing but the best from her. If you run in to any issues that may require her to lose money on you, you too will be ignored and made to feel like you yourself created the defect. This experience has tainted our view of breeders and will be going through the shelter from now on. She also continues to change the name of her breeding company due to negative backlash from people she has screwed over. If you Google Sondergeld Siberians, you will see various scam reports, yet her website www.sondergeldworkingsiberians.com has been shut down. I believe at this point, her website has changed, or she does all of her sales through Facebook. I have posted complaints to facebook and have found countless individuals who have either received a puppy with health issues and then been blocked, or who had their deposit stolen from them and then blocked by Scarlette Sondergeld.

She scammed me out of $1000. I purchased Demon from her and every time I arranged for pick up, she had another excuse as to why she wouldn't be available in that day. Eventually she told me I had waited too long and that because of that I forfeited my money! Lucky for me as I later found out the parents on his AKC registration are not his actual parents and on top of that he carries numerous genetic defects including eye and hip problems.

She scammed me out of $3000 I was cheated out of papers for the pup I recorded and lost out on money I put down for two other pups I'm glad I backed out on the other two pups as I found out later that the pup I had could have developed health problems. Thank or lucky stars she is happy and healthy no problems... Yet
