I took out a payday loan thru Little Loan Shoppe and was paying them as I was supposed to, in fact, I had three more payments for $50 each (1/2/09, 2/29/09 & 3/1/09). They had not done anything screwing since I started making payments 8/7/08.

So imagine my surprise when on 1/2/09, they debited $210 instead of the $50 that they were supposed to. I contacted them on several occassions via email and telephonically but they NEVER once responded to my emails and didn't answer the phone. So I thought I would call a different phone number and act like I was new customer.

I did talk to a lady name Megan who told me that she could see that they had made a mistake but that there wasn't anything she could do unless I sent her my full month of bank statement to prove that the money had been debited out of my account. I asked her what sense did that make because how would I know that money had been debited if it hadn't cleared my account already. I think they were just trying to get access to all the rest of my account information, why? I don't know but that just seemed like a strange request especially when she said that whe could see in my account that the wrong amount was debited.

So, I contacted my bank and they reversed the authorization, however, on 1/13, they debited my account again, this time for $200. Again, I tried to contact them all to no avail. My bank reversed the authorization again. Now, I need to find out how to make a formal complaint against them to the FTC or whomever else needs to know about this type of fraud.

Tony:

My name is Amy, and I am the Vice-President of Legal Affairs for Little Loan Shoppe.

It sounds like you have experienced some frustrations with LLS, and I wanted to let you know that I am here to help. I can certainly empathize with you during these tough economic times.

I can be reached at amyh@littleloanshoppe.com. If you contact me, I will personally assist you until your matter is fully resolved, and you are fully satisfied with the outcome.

I would like to address the issue as to why Megan told you that she needed a bank statement from you. If in fact a system error occurred, and money was debited, LLS has to confirm that the amount cleared your account via your bank statement. This expedites the process in refunding your account if in fact money is owed to you.

I think that it is important to note that LLS prides itself in complying with the law and providing excellent products and customer satisfaction. We take very serious all complaints and allegations against our practices and procedures, and in order to provide the best services available to our customers we comply with best practices including federal banking guidelines such as the Truth in Lending Act and Regulation Z disclosures.
I can assure you that the request for the bank statement is standard procedure, so that we can better assist you.

Please contact me if your matter has not yet been resolved.

Sincerely,

Amy

I took a loan out over a year and a half ago. I talked to a rep. and we agreed on $500 and they would send paperwork regarding the agreement. I worked on the road only being home on weekends. Honestly I had forgotten about it. Two weeks ago the hit my account for $800, original loan amount was $300. Two days later they hit again for $800. I called last week Monday and received a recording stating their office was closed and to leave a message and I would receive a call back the next business day. No call last week plus they hit my account again, which is closed except for a personal loan on it, for $915. I called again on Monday of this week and got the same recording. I left another message, not as nice as the first. I finally received a call yesterday from Stephanie. She stated the the person I talked to last JAN is no longer with company. She said that my account might be hit one or two more times and that she could not stop it. I talked to my bank today and my bank rep. said if she had a dollar everytime she heard that one she could retire. Over a year and a half ago and now I am being contacted. For those who need someone to talk to call Stephanie [protected] ext253. I talked to her 5/6/09.

I am also having the same problem with the Little Loan Shoppe. They have taken payments out at irregular times and when I thought I had my loan paid off in January, they went in a week ago and tried to take $615 from my account. I've tried to call them since October and have never once been able to get a hold of anyone, I even tried the new customer trick. There's something fishy about this company.

I am having the same problem, my husband took 0ut a loan which was satisfied June of 08. Strangely enough a few months ago
I noticed a debit of $800 then other random amounts...I emailed a Nikita at LLS and she said to fax her our bankstatement showing the debits...so we did w/our acct info blacked out. (We have placed a stop pymt and it has caught it and credited our acct the next day). Then more debits were attempted...today it was $650...the odd thing is that the loan that was taken out was only for $500 and it was an old bank acct which since has been closed. So my question is how did they get my new acct info and how can they legally be trying to debit random amounts especially when we have no loan w/them? I can't believe they doing this!
