Products All Wrong & Deadly
I ordered JELD-WEN windows & doors for new oceanfront house. All 88 products failed FL Building inspection.
These products will KILL people in a hurricane.

JELD-WEN (large global company) & Dealer refuse to correct their blunder. Lawsuit is in progress.
They don’t care how many people they kill.

I certainly agree about Jeld-Wen doors - we paid almost $1000 for a set of french doors with leaded glass inserts, that the contractor had a difficult time installing. Two years later the door will not close properly - bulges out at top and bottom and goes in in the middle. We had a top notch contractor look at it and he said the door had warped - it is fiberglass and it warped.
Jeld Wen sent a guy out who totally said it was the install so they would not honor their
warranty. Three people have now looked at this set of doors and agree it was in the manufacturing process - Jeld Wen disagrees - so much for their warranty.

I totally agree with the above post. I purchased a patio door from Home Depot. A top notch contractor installed the door, who has used and installed JW products for years and likes them. The door has leaked since the day it was installed. JW sent a guy out to look at the door. He told me that they have been having problems with this particular style of door. Had some problems in the manufacturing process. He put a few shims underneath the seals and caulked the threshold. All fina and dandy, except the door still leaks! I've been trying for two weeks to get someone at JW to listen to me. All they'll do is quote their tech's report. "Installation error." The seal on the stationery door does not go all the way to the top or bottom of the door. The seal on the moveable door has been crushed. It's an "installation error." Still fighting with some ### in Iowa trying to get a tech rep back out to fix the door. Horrible!! Horrible!!! customer relations. I would/will NEVER purchase another Jeld-Wen product.

I have beautiful ornate double doors ($9K)..WARPED in about 7 years and Jeld Wen offers no support. Just says "out of warranty". They didn't send anyone to look at doors as other writer states. I live in Michigan..guess they don't even care. I'm very disappointed in this company.

Installed front entry door, solid oak (?) in October 2011. March 2013 door starting to crack along side rails where they meet panels. Factory won't honor warranty stating door installation didn't meet some nonsense criteria there dealer never told us about. Will be starting lawsuit against JELD-WEN and dealer soon. Has anyone else had problems with JELD-WEN wood exterior doors?

I have four sets of 12' patio door units that were special ordered from Lowe's after Hurricane Katrina! ALL FOUR have wood rot on the rails in-between the fixed side lights and the swinging doors and rot in-between the steel clad doors at the bottom on the hinged side. Contacted Jeld-Wen as was instructed by Lowe's. Jeld-Wen denied the claim stating that proper care & maintenance was not observed. This is complete BALONEY! Proper care & maintenance was performed on these doors! The problem in a design flaw! The ridges molded into the aluminum sill cause water to pool at the bottom of the rails! It is wicked up by the wood and eventually rots the doors as well as the rails! These ridges should not be at the bottom of the sill. They are made there so that the screen door can roll back and forth in front of the open doors. These ridges are what caused the problem and it is an inherent design flaw. They should have been notched and inch or two from the rails so that water could easily drain with the pitch of the sill. There are two ridges in this sill and the higher-up one has the rails installed over it! There is no way the water can drain! Jeld-Wen refuses to do anything under warranty and just wants to ignore it. This will NOT be ignored.
