I had my HP gas connection at Goa, at Dona Paula till October 2008. The service was very good and the employees very efficient and courteous. Since the HP service in Goa was so good I took a transfer voucher to Uttar Pradesh when I had to move to Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. Since Tyagi gas service is the nearest one at Nandgram (which is actually quite far from Indirapuram with autorickshaws charging anything between Rs. 150-200) I contacted them. I was in for a rude shock after the pleasent experience at Goa. Apart from being non-cooperative, they insisted on a tenant certificate as residence proof. On telling them that the flat I live in is owned by my family and that I don't pay a rent and am instead ready to give a bank statement from a nationalised bank as proof of my residence as well a letter by the person who owns the flat stating that I am a resident of the flat, in addition to my PAN card, they insisted that only a rent document drafted on a stamp paper is an acceptable proof. What do I do ... lie on a government authorised stamp paper that I am tenant when I pay no rent???
Since several multistorey apartments have come up in Indirapuram, it will be good if HP has agencies at Indirapuram. Above all regular customer feedback check should be used to renew franchisees. Also, the employees need to be updated of the alternative and acceptable identity proofs. If someone does not have a government job, does not have the house/flat in his/her name and need not pay rent, does not drive and therefore does not have a driving license - looks like the person does not exist at all for HP Gas Agency, Nandgram. I was most helpfully told, just get a rent affidavit done, it is a ten minute job ... of course the fact that it is not authentic does not matter at all. Maybe the folks are genuinely ignorant of alternative proofs.
The Tyagi gas service at Nandgram, Ghaziabad was as disappointing as the Dona Paula HP Gas service was wonderful at Goa.
