We bought a puppy from Michaele Atkinson of Golden Acres of Fallon, NV in early August. Two days after we got our Golden Retriever we took her to the vet for a check up to find out that she was ill with Coccidia and Giardia. Although these parasites are very common among puppies, there is no way she would have been showing symptoms (i.e. watery diarrhea) within the 2ND day we brought her home.. Michaele had sold us a sick puppy. She told us one of the puppies drank contaminated water and had Coccidia but was being treated. We didn't realize at the time that if one puppy in the litter gets Coccidia, most of the time all of the puppies will get it. Well, with all of that being said, we contacted Michaele and she informed us that she would reimburse us for any vet bills which was great because we thought she was being a very responsible breeder. It has now been 3 months and with multiple phone calls, emails, and a letter written to her we have not received anything. We realize now that once you purchase the puppy and if she never signed papers saying they are health guarantee that no action needs to be taken upon the breeder, it is just the fact of the matter that she told us she would pay for the vet bills. We are now $400 in vet bills, and $500 for the purchase of the puppy, we might as well of bought a puppy elsewhere for $1000 with health guarantee and papers.

Meanwhile, we have not seen our puppies papers either. Michaele did sign noting she would send us papers once she received them in the mail. After multiple phone calls, we have not acquired any papers from the AKC.

At this time, we have realized that our phone calls are not going to help get us what we want and we probably will never see her papers or the reimbursement money for her vet bills. We are okay with that. We love our puppy too much to give her up at this point but if we had known before hand that this breeder is not very reputable we would have decided to get a puppy elsewhere. I did research online before purchasing a puppy from Golden Acres and never saw any complaints or bad reviews so we figured she was a safe breeder.

I really wish we didn't have to come down to this as I am a very easygoing person, but do not appreciate being ripped off. The customer service we received from Michaele was great at the beginning but now that she received money from us she won't answer any of our phone calls. Just be aware before looking into getting a puppy at Golden Acres.

I am also having issues with my puppy now! This place needs to be shut down. Karma will come back to those "breeders".

I bought a female puppy 2yrs and 4months ago. She was very sick with giardia and a recessed vulva which has resulted in over four UTIs. Yesterday I received a call from her vet and she is now dieing from kidney disease and won't live passed 5 yrs. I'm devastated. Please don't buy from or support golden acres in Fallon nv. This disease is inherited from her parents, they are breeding sick dogs and need to be stopped!

I can't believe they are still in business either. The area where the dogs/puppies are kept is very dirty. There is dog feces everywhere. PLUS they claim to be a rescue. It is a shame that they are still selling puppies. My heart goes out to the puppies and the dogs. We lost our puppy the very next day to Parvo back in 2012. We also had to wait. We go to California for a breeder now. Please, everybody, please research before you purchase a puppy and know where you are purchasing the puppy.

I am so saddened to hear that Golden Acres is still forking out puppies to families. I got my golden puppy March 2012. I had picked Harvey out of his litter when he was 4 weeks old. I did mention to her that I was a little hesitant to choose one of her pups because, I did have a friend who got a little girl puppy a litter before me, and she had giardia. The breeder did assure me that she had a health guarantee and that if anything were to happen she would compensate. So, every Saturday from that day on I went to Golden Acres to check on him and make sure he wasn't lethargic or sick. On week 7, I thought it was kind of odd that the lady from Golden Acres wouldn't let me in to the barn where I had previously gone to see Harvey. But she brought him out and told me I could take him home early. The minute I brought Harvey home, he went to the bathroom and there was instant blood and mucous in his stool. To make a long story short, I called Klaich immediately and brought him in that following Monday. Sure enough Harvey was diagnosed with Giardia and Worms. For the first 10 days he was on medication he couldn't have any interaction with other dogs. I am very thankful after all the treatment Harvey was okay. He is now a healthy little boy. I am very sorry to the families who were not as fortunate as I. I would like to do anything I can to help get Golden Acres shut down. No one should have to go through such a delicate problem as loosing their new puppy.
