I needed a repair done to my septic system and I contacted Fins Environmental Services.

They said that they could have someone come out the same day.

I asked about payment. I spoke with a young lady named Candice. I was told that payment did not have to be made that day. I was told that the payment schedule would be $50.00 every 15 days or $100.00 a month.

I was pleased with this arrangement so I contracted with Fins Environmental Services to do the job. The total for the repair came to $410.00.

When I received my first bill from Fins Environmental Services there was a $5.00 "late Fee" added to the total. I called Fins Environmental Services about this and was told by Candice that there must have been a mistake made by the finance person who's name is Heather. Candice said she would speak with Heather and return my call.

I never received a return call but I did receive another bill with an additional "late Fee" added to the balance due and a note from Heather stating that I was told that 1/2 the total would have to be paid on the day the service was rendered. That is totally not true.

They are adding $5.00 to my bill every 15 days in violation of the agreement that Candice made with me on behalf of Fins Environmental Services.

This is a deceptive practice and businesses should not be allowed to lie to people and then extort money from honest, hard working Americans the way Fins Environmental Services is doing to me.

    This customer contacted our company in December 2010. We visited the property the same day they called, performed an evaluation, and gave an estimate for repair. Our technician performed the repair the following day and they were billed accordingly.
    We give all our customers 15-day invoicing and this is clearly stated on our invoices. If it is necessary for a customer to make payments, an arrangement must be made prior to any work taking place.
    This customer paid a portion of their bill within the 15 day with no further notice of when the next payment would be made. After the first 15 day period, a late fee of $5 was added, per our company policy. This is clearly stated on our invoices.
    It was only after this first late fee that we were made aware of the customer's need for a payment arrangement.
    Any and all late fees were removed from this customer's account. The account was paid in full after 4 months.
    Most companies in any sort of home repair field require payment at time of service. We offer 15-day invoicing as well as payment arrangements (provided they are made prior to the work taking place). This practice is hardly deceptive and far from extortion. We provide our customers with excellent service at fair prices.
