Drive Financial - Dallas TX / Keep away from this company!

1 United States Review updated:

I purchased a vehicle from Huston Motors, Lake Wales Fl.back in July'06. They organized the finance with Drive Financial, Dallas TX. We were rushed into signing the contract without reviewing it thoroughly. Only after we realized that a fee of $2500 was added to our loan. When I contacted Drive Financial I was told that those were fees to lend us the money. I told them that I was not aware of these fees when I purchased the vehicle and was not satisfied with the sale tactics of Huston Motors and their company. I was told that at that point they couldn't take back the vehicle and I was stuck with a loan costing more than the cost of the vehicle. I sent my first payment to Drive Financial by mail since they charge $10 to pay by phone or online. The check arrived on the 16th Aug. They repossessed the vehicle on Aug 15th claiming that they had not received the first installment and apart from that I didn't want the vehicle. After 1 week and many calls I was obligated to pay the storage fee to get back my vehicle and they paid the repossession fee. During the week I didn't have my vehicle I was not compensated by Drive Financial, only shouted at on many occasions. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

People who work for Drive and tell people at work other people's business are stupid and need to be fired. I wish employees at Drive were all on the same page but some of them like to take matters in their own hands and go against company policy. Their are many employees and they cannot handle them all at once. Deferments (extensions) are a touchy issue just because so many customers have abused them. I'm not in the department for them and I'm not allowed to offer them to customers. Usually deferments are offered to customers in extreme delinquency. Frankly, I am doing my best to get all of the employees to be at their best and make us better, but as long as there are people who don't give a crap about customers those problems will remain.

This company has ripped off my daughter and sister. Both have financed through them to only find out that the money they paid has not been applied to the car. They are currently trying to repossess my daughter's vehicle and she is up to date on her payments... BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!

My husband purchased a ford f-150 in 2003 and we made 51 payments. We owed 3500 dollars and wanted to pay it off before the due date. (9 months early) They told us after given the complete run around that if we pay it off today that it would still be 3500. I asked why would we still be responsible for the interest charges and finance charges till July if we wanted to pay it off in Nov! they said that you have to pay it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I stayed on hold for twenty mins and then hung up on. I call back and ask if I could get a copy of all the payments and where exactly my money was applied, they said that they couldn't do that. I hate this company and i hope they get what they deserve.

your group repossessed a car 2001 or 2000 Honda accord stating we were 6 mo behind, then returned the car 6 hours later and that was around June or July we have called numerous times and when we finally talked to someone we were told to go after 5 star and talk to all these entities in your organization,,the car was damaged 1800.00 worth by est of damage the car in question was in pristine condition.. we are being charged for this mistake with the damage and the towing fee, we are getting real sick of this not being addressed by any of the mushroom styled monkeys you have in this organization that is currently making your institution a place that has questionable business ethics,, we were told we owed 1054.00 and ignored on everything else so we paid 700.00 and now are told we owe 1600.00 we are going to pay one more payment and are going to file with the better business bureau, and we are going to paste the internet with the factual tales of your practices... do get in touch with us regarding this big issue to us and no issue to you...

Ok... I'm reading you complaints so that I can see a customers point of view. These stories sound horrible and I hope the best for all of you and your situations. I recently moved to another department so now I can offer deferments so I know how they work now. So here it goes. Usually deferments are offered to customers that are 40 or more days past due. Depending on pay history, NSF activity, recent deferments and the life of the loan you could be eligible. If a deferment is offered to you IT IS NOT GUARANTEE!!!! Lots and lots of account managers fail to mention this to customers. Deferments are on a first come first serve basis. We had a meeting last week and management stated that November deferments cannot be offered. Whenever we put in for a request for deferment, the account manager goes through the process and then submits it to our supervisor. They are supposed to keep up with your account and call you to tell you if have been approved or denied. They are not supposed to leave you in the dark waiting and then you are a month past due. I REALLY REALLY want to make customers happy. I know that some horrible situations can come up and put you behind. I am behind on CREDIT CARD payments as we speak! Someone Stole my account number and my account had to be closed. So I havent paid my bills in a month. I know it's not a car payment, but I have received collection calls before. If you know someone at Drive is breaking FDCPA laws don't be afraid to call and complain. The holding on the phone issue...being on hold for an un-Godly number of minutes I hear all the time. I don't know why that happens. Make sure you call the toll-free number instead of the number on caller ID, I guess. Most of the associates are on the Auto-Dialers so it might be a while. If you got questions feel free to ask me. I'll try to check on it as often as possible :) I'm the nice one. Please don't hate!

We purchase a Malibu 2006, at 25% interest rate. We received the car without being approved from any bank, able to drive off the lot before being approved. We didn't think it was unusual at the time because we couldn't get any bank to approve us for a loan. We were so elated to get the car, We had the car for a month before any bank would approve us, by that time it was too late, they had no choice either finance us or take back the car and resale it. We were not made aware of the interest rate. We understood that the interest rate would be included in the 734.04 monthly payments. Since then we ha11-17-07 we've come to know that the total price on the statement does not reflex the interest acquired, neither does it reflect the amount being paid toward the principal so it's like paying and paying large amount of money and the total never decreasing. I felt too that we have been duped and that We have been set up for failure. We were told by the auto dealer that after a year we should be able to ref9nance the car. We spoke to drive about 7 months concerning refinancing and we were told by the phone representative that Drive fin. doesn't refinance at all. We felt at that time that it was too late, that we were stuck with the car and the large car payment of $734.04. 11-17-07 Drive fin. was called because of continual difference, and disagreement in the monthly balance. I spoke with a representative named Kim, who was very rude and unprofessional she was not able to clarify or help me understand why the statement was the way it was. I inform the rep. that I wanted to speak to the Supervisor, I was put on hold the supervisor than picks up, her name Ivina Joseph, I explained to her why I was calling in concern of the disagreement in statement accuracy. She explains why, I still felt that it was not accurate and that I was not satisfied with what I felt was not right. She made a suggestion and ask whether I would like a financial statement sent to me, I told her yes and gave her a fax number. She was very polite and tried to help me. I called her back about 1:00, and requested to speak to Ms I. Joseph, I was put on hold for 10 min or more, no one bothered to pick up the line and tell me politely that the supervisor would be there to assist me in any manner. When the supervisor finally did pick up, it was no the supervisor that I requested, she said that she would assist me, I in turn told her that I had called earlier and spoke with ms Joseph and I insisted on speaking with her. The supervisor than got an aggressive unprofessional attitude and said that the supervisor Joseph was not available and that she could not allow me to hold for her, I insisted on holding for 5 min. after all I was kept on hold for at lease 10 min. The supervisor stated that I would have to call back. for the supervisor has left out for lunch. 2:10 I call back Representative Alexia Codonalis was professional and polite, I again requested to speak to ms Joseph, finally ms. Joseph picks up and again assist me, she had mention that she forgot to tell me the financial report takes 72 hours before I could receive it. The supervisor apologize for the actions of the staff. This day the light bulbs came on showed the reality of this company and how they value their clients. I agree with these other clients, we are being abuse financially and set up for failure from the beginning.

I just made arrangements to make my final payment of $1355 with the company. I also logged on for the first time to my online account and realize that I paid a LOT more than the vehicle was worth But you know, looking at it realistically, it was my fault.

    1. I was desperate for a nice vehicle. Instead of using the $2k I had to buy a cash car I could easily afford, I chose to get a very nice vehicle.
    2. I made many payments late due to legitimate and not-so-legitimate reasons (Christmas presents for others, etc...) and the last payment is penance for that.
    3. I did not fully understand the agreement that I signed or the amount of interest - I was an uneducated consumer and that is not their problem but mine. I will never get into a high interest loan again to save my life now that I know.

The bad part is they called me to tell me that I owed the $1355 and was 37 days past just after I made my final payment of $907 (yep, I doubled up on payments for that one) and they were still agreeable to let me make the payments as long as I made arrangements. Again, they were not perfect but even from the beginning this has been a manageable situation. I missed payments and got deferments twice over the life of the loan which was 5 years. I was late about 10 times a year over the life of the loan.

I cannot speak for everyone else. I can say that I am happy they gave me the loan. Happy they worked with me through the bad times. Happy this thing is over. And I will not buy another vehicle through them or anyone else without understanding the entire contract from what I pay, when they repo, how do I get deferments to the final payout possibilities. See, I have matured over the last 5 years and it is due to the high cost education I got through Drive.

Finally, I have printed out ALL of my information - payment history, interest, fees, payout amount... Once I get my title I will update the postings here. Wish me luck.

Drive Financial Services are a bunch of ###S. I got behind on my payments and was constantly harrassed by people who were complete [censored]. I sent in the defered amounts and they repo'ed my vehicle today. All this company does is bend you over and ram it in as far as they can. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, AT ALL COSTS!

I also am financed with Drive Financial. I got my car in June '07 and in December '07 I have yet to receive any payment book or statement. I have contacted them more than once on this matter, but no results. I make my payments, but really don't have any way of knowing if they are posting.

Pay Your Bills People!! Car loans are just like car insurance... you have an accident in your car you are considered a risk... miss paying a few bills you are a risk.. With risks comes higher rates... Drive would not harrass you or reposesses your vehicle if your payments were currnet.. GET A LIFE!!!

I won't EVEN tell all the problems we had with Drive. It started with us making the payments every single month 5 days before the due date and they claimed (SIX MONTHS LATER!!!!) that the payments were late. We fought with them for months showing faxed bank statements and everything that the payments were on time. They started calling my parents house trying to get them to make a payment for us. My mom had to threaten to sue them if they didn't stop. (They got their number from our references). It was OUT OF CONTROL. Only 2 people in the 2 years we had the car were nice. It was out of control. I have letters upon letters sent to drive about our payments trying to get everything straightened out. It was so out of control we finally had the car repo'd just so the stress of the company would stop.

The PAYMENTS WERE MADE ON TIME and they still harrassed us! They would call one week everyday for a week in advance of our due date to remind us we had a payment coming due. No kidding!

I purchased my 2006 Nissan Altima in May 2007. I had my hours decreased due to insurance cuts, I worked in surgery in a rural hospital. I kept Drive representatives well imformed and they were excellent. I never encountered anyone that was rude or that wasn't extremely kind and compassionate. I even spoke with the nicest people who were not fluent in the English language. Kindness is a universal attribute. I have nothing but kind words for the staff at Drive Servicing. It saddened my heart that others have had such unpleasant experiences with them.

Drive is the worst company to get a loan from. Time and time again they have lodged uncontracted fee's to my account. And talking to them about it is a kin to digging your own hair out with a butterknife. See drive at [redacted].com there is a list a mile long.

I had the same problems that I have read here. The first time they reposessed my car, 97 Ford Mustange it was in a bankruptcy. (Because like so many I had lost my job and didn't want to lose my house.) The repo guy told me it would be easier on my car if I just gave them the keys. It had never happened to me so I believed him. When I got that mess cleared up (which more than a week) and they infomed the repo man, he met me in a mall parking lot to return my car. It had 500 extra miles on it! And it had fast food trash in it!. I called Drive and told them and they said there was nothing they could do about because they contracted those kind of things out. Then the bankruptcy fell through and they came to repo it again without any notice. I only owed $1000 to pay it off. I had intended to pay it all. They never responded to my letters to get a payoff amount. It has been over 1 1/2 years since they repoed it and now I am getting toll tag bills and a Violation with the JP Court for parking in a prohibited area for that car. They never took it out of my name! What a business! How do I know who they sold it too! Don't know what to do about the mess!

Before I start I just want to say that I understand that there is a high intrest payment on my loan, I knew that when I signed the contract. I also understand that I will be paying on the intrest more money than what I am paying for the actual car. Now here is where everything goes kinda Blahhh. On June 2nd of 2007 I got an email saying that I could get financed on a new car, and seeings that I have very poor credit and in desperate need of a dependable car I jumped in. I have issues with the dealership that sold me the car because I feel that the worker there took advantage of me because he saw the word sucker plastered on my head, but that is a different topic. My main issue is with Drive Financial. My intrest is 24.9% over 5 years with a monthly payment of 422.00 a month. So I will be paying 30,000 for a 15000 dollar car by the end of my contract. I was told by the dealership that I can refinance after a year for a lower intrest and possibly lower car payment. When I spoke to a rep with Drive financial I was told they do not refinance. So I was mislead there. I told the rep that 422 dollars was a lot of money to come out of one paycheck so would it be possible to split my payment so that I am paying half of the payment bi-weekly, and I was told that I could do that. So I paid a months payment then called Drive two weeks later and was ready to make my first half payment and it was then that I was told that they do not accept half payments that will go towards the principle. They will take that money and put it towards the intrest but I still have to pay the full monthly amount of 422 each month. I was also told that if I have a due date of the 2nd of each month that even if they recieve the check on the 2nd of each month, I am still charged a daily intrest fee of 10.40 because it takes 5-7 days to process the check. Well just because someone does not want to get up and go the the bank does not mean that I should have to pay for them being lazy plain and simple. I make sure that my bank send out my payment so that it is recieved before or on the due date, so I should not have to pay any daily intrest fees. I was told that there are two ways I can avoid those daily intrest fees. One is doing a check, or debit card over the phone, but that is an additional 10.95 per transaction, or I can allow Drive to automatically deduct the payments out of my account each month. Well I do not know about you guys, but I do not want anyone having access to my checking account except me and maybe my wife (depending on if she lets me buy what I want :) ) I do not know the laws in Texas but I do know that here in Cleveland Ohio that is illegal for them to charge daily intrest fees when they have recieved my payment, just because they do not deposit it right away. When trying to dispute that with them, it resulted in them "hanging up on me" Now here is what REALLY gets me steamed. I was told that each day my payment is late I am charged 10.40 per day for each day that my payment is late. I am also charged an additional 10.40 if my payment is more than 30 days late which means that depending on how many days are in a certain month I can owe over 320 just in intrest alone for one month. Something about that did not seem right so I decided to look at the contract that I signed with the dealership, and on my contract it states that if my payment is MORE than 10 days late I am charged either $15 or %5 percent whichever is greater. Nowhere does it state what Drive mentioned to me. When I called Drive and explained that to them, the lady on the other end told me to hold on so that she could look at my contract. She came back and few minutes later and here is what she said. "Unfortunatly the daily service charge is not in your contract, but that is something that Drive Financial does" When I tried to dispute it with her and inform her that you can not have me pay something that I was not informed about, or that is not in my contract, the phone call somehow got disconnected. Now granted if you want to avoid the late charges then you need to make your paymenrs on time, but at least in my situation, my credit is bad and so I am high risk to begin with. Trust me I want to pay for this car because I want to rebuild my credit, but Drive knew I was high risk that is why I am paying 24.9 percent intrest. But trust me on this, had I known about the daily intrest fees, I would of walked to work and saved 400 dollars a month till I could afford to but a junker for a few grand. I have come across some rude reps, but I think what really gets me upset is the lack of knowledge the workers have. I am told so many different things by so many different employees, and none of them equal what I was told by the previous rep. But the one thing every single one of them gets correct is When can we expect payment, and how to hang up the phone when you want to dispute something with them. So whoever wants to do the class action lawsuit count me in. I do not know how you can reach me, but at least through here we can keep in contact. I would love to sue them, but unless I can find an lawyer who will take the case and not want money upfront I am screwed.

Thank You Roger Roger Cleveland-Strongsville, Ohio.

I really don't have much to complain about Drive. I was a first time buyer and was told that they were the only ones who would finance my first car, even though I gave a $2000 down payment. This was back in '05. We did try to refinance and got the same answer I've seen posted, but in '07 we traded in our car for a brand new one and had no problem at all with the pay off. Yesterday, I even got a check in the mail for an over payment I did when I had my other car. I did call Drive first tomake sure it wasn't a scam or anything.

I agree with everyone so far. I my self was trying to do things right with them and found out the hard way. I was accused of telling them one thing when I knew it wasn't true. I explain that I wasn't aware of what was going on and that a payment was on my credit report so how was I to know it didn't post as they say it didn't yet it came out of my account. I have my car and I don't plan to give it back until I can figure out a better way to handle this. I may not be doing this the right way but all I have seen from several sites is that they are a horrible company to be assoc. with... I have checked with local law and they law can not get involved in the repo of the car only the loan if they go after you for this. I my self am trying to get it refinanced through another company if anyone knows of a good company helping people with bad credit get a refin. feel free to let me know... This is a sad day when a company like this gets away with such horrible acts. I have tried calling in to talk to them and I get a getto attitude and it is very hard to understand them as well as they break the law by others listening in with out telling the caller. I hope if anything everyone who does go through them sooner or later bankrupts the company I am told they have been under several names due to this issue.. I wish everyone luck!!!

My husband and I purchased a Dodge Durango for $19995 in 2005. I wish I never would have purchased this now. We were not told about drive. We started rec'v phone calls 2 WEEKS before our first payment was due to tell us that we were late. WE PUT $4000.00 DOWN AND DIDN'T HAVE TO MAKE A PAYMENT UNTIL THE MID OF SEPTEMBER AND STARTED GETTING CALLS ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!!!! When we called them back and told them when we purchased the car and that our payments were to start on September 15th they said that they were reminding us that the payment was due. Well when you threaten to come and pick the car up that day that doesn't sound like a reminder. So we were ok. But then we were still making payments and they called my parents, my brother, my job, my friends, everyone telling them to make a payment for me or else. I asked about the payoff for the car after a year and I was told that my payoff was $29000.00 well hold on a second I only would have financed at most 22000.00 which is what my contract stated but no one could tell me what the extra money was for. I asked them why it was more than what I purchased the car for and they said I had to pay for all of the interest up front. WHICH IS ILLEGAL IN EVERY STATE IN THE UNION!!!!! You cannot charge interest first and then take money off of the principal. On top of it you cannot something that is not in the contract. So the $10.40 a day which I am reading about above is also ILLEGAL!! I have contacted some of the lawyers who do this type of thing and they would love to take care of these people. But to move ahead with my story I was just like ok I will continue paying because I have to have a car to go to work. So I waited another 6 months and I called to get the payoff of the truck and I was told that the payoff was $29500.00. When I asked why it was more than what it was 6 months earlier they stated that it was interest. Mind you the payments were made and made on time. I was so frustrated that I was just about over it. So this past august I called them and told them to come and pick up the truck because then I called for the payoff again I was told it was still 29000.00. We have pictures to document how the truck was when they picked it up. We received a demand letter stating that we owed them almost 22000.00 for the remaining balance on the truck.

I am now trying to purchase a new truck and I have been told that I need to pay off this amount or fight them. Well I still don't know how you can owe more than what you purchased the car for when you made 23 payments on time and 1 extra payment. And then you tell me I have to pay you another 22000.00. So I am calling the lawyers back and I am getting this taken off of my credit. SO many dealerships and banks know Drive that they feel sorry for people who use them. It is few and far between for good things to happen. There are different sites for class action lawsuits and everyone out here needs to go to them and start one up.
