Capricorns Lair / Terrible customer service!

I ordered incense from Capricorns Lair. I have been ordering the same thing for several years. They send emails to me with discount coupons. I waited almost a month for it only to get something totally wrong. (I ordered stick incense, they sent granules and of a different scent) I called to see what I needed to do. They told me I had to pay to ship it back although it was not my mistake. When I questioned that, they were rude and hung up on me. I called back and talked to Mike who supposedly was the boss, and he jumped down my throat before I could even make a point. He told me to never order form them again!!! MY my my. They won't be in business very much longer with that attitude. So here I sit with a 2 pound bag of incense granules that I don't even know how to use and I'm out 30 bucks. Hmmm.

    Awful just awful. I ordered from them and it took almost a month. No signature release even though I paid quite a bit for only 6lbs of items, I had to chase down DHL who left it at the wrong house, but then when I *FINALLY* received my order there was an item wrong - I got something else instead of what I paid for. Wonderful. Also they have another named yahoo store - Bossboy's Gift Emporium - I ordered ONE item, it's been over a month and no word from them, they can't even tell me what the status is (although of course them receiving my money part went fine). I called up regarding that order and got - Capricorn's Lair! Two different people on two different days could not help me. Just truly awful.

    Almost daily, I still get hits at my blog for the following article on this company:

    So today I put in the most common search term "Capricorns lair complaints" and was truly amazed at the hits I got on it. It really speaks for itself.

    They are probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have no idea how they can stay in business. I ordered a few things about six weeks ago. One item was backordered and I was promised a refund on the item I didn't receive. Not only have I not received the refund, they won't return my emails and now the emails just bounce back because their inbox is full. And they don't answer their phone.

    They're a real first-class outfit. I hope people see these comments before spending $ on their site. Creeps.

    I also recently had the misfortune to have dealt with these disreputable crooks. I would suggest that anyone having problems with Capricorns Lair file appropriate complaints. To date I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (via internet site), with the BBB Utah (via internet site), spoke to and sent a letter to VISA about the problem, and am mailing a complaint form (from the internet site) to:

    Utah Division of Consumer Protection
    Attention: Complaint Processor
    Heber M. Wells Building, Second Floor
    160 East 300 South, SM Box 146704
    Salt Lake City, UT 84114-6704

    Utah actually has a "Buyer Beware List" on their Consumer Protection site. I would like to see this business put on it. The more people who complain the better. If the company name keeps coming up with these agencies then some action is likely to be taken.

    They are refusing to refund me over $600 worth of products which have not been received, and then emailed to call me a liar! Reported to BBB, IC3 and Utah Dept. of Commerce for fraud.

    This place is horrible! I have ordered from them twice (deciding to give them a second chance because I ordered late in the shopping season) but each time it took more than a month for them to deliver my package. The first time I ordered from them they waited until three weeks before Christmas to call and tell me they did not have half the things I had ordered and instead of refunding any of my money I was told I would have to pick other items. This would not even have been so bad but after I had picked new items they called me again to tell me some of those items were unavailable. After picking new items yet again the man re-read my entire order to me and almost all of it was wrong. Finally everything was sorted out and after waiting almost two months (the package arrived two days before Christmas) the packaged arrived. The second time was not as dramatic but again it has been almost two months and I have seen head nor tail of my package. Save your money and buy from a reputable and honest vendor.

    I give this company a -10 score in customer service and -20 for prompt delivery.
    How do I get my money back is my next problem. I cannot believe this company is still
    in business.

    I've done business with Capricorn's Lair for several years. Past experiences were good. I spoke with people who were friendly, got quick email replies, and usually received items in a timely manner. Then, all of that changed, and I have no idea why. One recent example: I ordered an altar pentacle. Three weeks later I still didn't have it. I contacted C.L. to ask for shipping/tracking information, and was told "It will go out next Friday." I then asked why it took THREE WEEKS just to ship, asked if it had been out of stock or something (wanting to give them the benefit of doubt), and never got a reply. Maybe management changed, or someone bought the store and made bad decisions? Whatever happened, things with Capricorn's Lair are not good. I would hesitate to buy from them again.

    Unfortunately you guys are right. I used to order from them all of the time too. I also received my items in three weeks since I always ordered their 14k rings. I was always happy. On July 5th I ordered their 14k pentacle, which I was looking forward to getting. On August 6th, I was told my item was shipped. I asked for a tracking number several times, which I never received. A week went by, no tracking no. Or item. I said I would wait until the end of the week for the item and see what happened. They then cancelled my order and refunded me with no explanation as to what happened like I did something wrong. Now was it shipped? Maybe not. But their service has definitely gone downhill.

    After paying for priority mail for a case of incense from these rude people, 15 days saw no package. I contacted them and was admonished for asking if there was a problem. They immediately cancelled my order, called me rude in an email, and I happily received a refund. I would never do business with them again. Ever. I have never been treated so poorly by any customer service for just asking why the order hadn't arrived.

    Capricorn's Lair - Fradulent business practices: To date, fourteen attempts via email, three via phone voice messages, in an attempt to receive a definitive answer as to shipping status have been left unanswered.

    Has this order shipped?, If so, please provide tracking detail.

    Vague responses, when received, of which follow, such as, ”this will ship on Monday”.

    Reply inquiry email into status of order, resulted with ‘will let you know on Tuesday, when we are in office”.

    Month after month, patiently awaiting the arrival of the orders $19600., placing trust within Ty; Capricorn’s Lair contact, in that the orders would, arrive.

    Email correspondence totaling fourteen, to Capricorn’s Lair associate Ty reiterated assurances the orders had shipped. Reply upon status of order shall follow
    You asked about a sale we will never ship to you. Ty
    Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T
    Trust has since been breached.
    Unfortunate…sadness…Karma shall return to thee.
